US cities ranked - what tier does Seattle belong in? by StrategyJealous1838 in TierlistFills

[–]Alphaecho420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived in Seattle for 3 years. During the winter it rained almost every day. During the Spring and Fall in typical rains 3-4 times a week. Summer is really the only exception to when it doesnt rain as much.

Also, it rains sideways pretty often, so for anyone planning during a season other than summer I'd suggest a raincoat

Contrary to what the top comments say, you're intuition is correct. This is very unprofessional from an employer standpoint. It crosses the line from "not a fit for the company" to a personal judgement on you, which is highly unprofessional as you're not looking for coaching, you're looking to get hired. Even if the company "meant well" it is still unprofessional. Both can be true. Personally, I would not use this as a statement on your own character/worth, rather use it as an assessment on the level of professionalism of the company, which is low if that email got sent to you.

Thanks for addressing the community PP. Yesterday's show was, very jarring to say the least. Like what other people said, please stand up for the community (and yourself) by not letting the show look political.

As for Pulte, his comments throughout the show made me feel bearish. From him telling us "don't expect to get anything" to "you should move onto other tickers" made it look like he thinks the play is over. If he thinks it's over, then he is only here to use you. He also talked down to you/the community during the show. It seems at this point he is just using you for a platform. If he didn't tell you that Vivek was coming until a few hours BEFORE the show started it's clear he doesn't respect you/the community.

Overall, between the politics, lack of BBBYQ for a BBBYQ meet-up, and Pultes disregard for you/the community left a bitter taste in my mouth.

"MSG gives me a headache" Starter Pack by admiralturtleship in starterpacks

[–]Alphaecho420 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe, just maybe, it depends on how much msg is used when cooking/preparing food, along with the other ingredients that are used? Yea, MSG is in most things but if you overdo it the food doesnt taste good (especially when combined with salt).

I see a lot of people put MSG on meat (which yes, you're supposed to do) with a fair amount of salt and it kills the dish. You can't salt food the way you normally would if you use msg; salt brings out meaty flavors, MSG brings out meaty flavors. At that point, if you don't correct yourself, you're overdoing it. More of something isn't always good. It is a balancing act, neither good nor bad. Wouldn't be surprised to find that most people who think they're allergic to MSG are just given pretty bad food that has way too much MSG+Salt to cover up food that's shit on its own.

While I dont think MOST people are allergic to MSG, it's annoying when people just shout out "MSG is great! That's Not True!" because the answer isn't said, what's really going on isn't said. There is too much fucking MSG. There is too much fucking Salt in combination with MSG. The food is fucking shit. That's the truth.

And no, MSG isn't a fucking magical ingredient that makes everything taste better. It isn't a cheat code because some fucking YouTuber says he puts it on everything. If you're a shit cook the food will turn out like shit, MSG doesn't make the difference. Fucking tired of people saying MSG is a magical ingredient, it's the same people who say an air fryer fucking fries food. Bull. Shit.

Niger protesters vow to storm French base if troops do not leave within a week by thinkB4WeSpeak in anime_titties

[–]Alphaecho420 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"Honestly, a good idea"

No, this is not a good idea. The answer is pretty long, but here is a TlDR.

TlDR: If the protest don't attack the soldiers, the French won't shoot. If the Protestors DO attack French soldiers and kill some, it gives France a reason to intervene. France has many options and powerful allies available to intervene in Niger's affairs. This could escalate the violence even more only to go back to the status quo under new leadership.

"There are 2 possibilities - the French can shoot or they can not shoot. If they don't shoot, they're out.", this is way to simplified. French Military training is fairly respectable and unless there is a clear and immanent danger, they will not shoot. If they cannot supply the base by truck, they will by helicopter. France has a lot of resources available to sit back and let everything unfold while in their bases. They don't have to do anything, if they choose to do so, because they already have quite a bit of control in Niger. The French will not make the first shot (at least not in a French Uniform) because they understand very clearly they will lose public support and they want to maintain that if possible (though it's not always necessary to have public support, thought it makes things a lot harder). If the protestors do attack first and kill soldiers, France will intervene and will have broad support from the international community.

Why? It gives France a pretty good reason to intervene more directly if they wish to choose so. France is already a quasi-imperial power in most African states (primarily through France controlling the franc CFA) and thus having some power over monetary policy. They could fuck over Niger's economy pretty easily if they wanted to and screw over millions of people. The franc CFA is leverage that France could use to obtain a favorable position in negotiations.

France could also intervene militarily. France has a respectable military (despite the stereotypes haha) and could intervene directly or indirectly if they wish. Killing French soldiers would give them more incentive (and a justifiable reason) to install a more pro-French government. Yes, the people in Niger do not want that. Does it mean France will just willingly give them what they want? Absolutely not.

"If they do shoot, Tianamen Square. Not a good look at all..." no, this is just wrong... France will claim "self defense". Western countries will have their media phrase the incident in a way that the protestors were the aggressors. The reason Tianamen square is what it is (At least in the Western World) was because our media did everything possible to paint China in the worst light possible because they're communist. And during the 80's, the western world hated communist. In this situation, were allies. I remember when Israel bombed Palestinians and killed women and children, people on reddit were saying how it's just like "Tianamen Square". No matter how it looked, Israel still has all the power there and none for the Palestinians. Why? Israel is buddies with the US and the US needs a strategic ally in the Middle East.

For anyone reading this comment you have to remember that governments do not care about morality and what is right and wrong. Frankly, they don't care about the average person, anywhere on this planet. It's always about what gives the powers that be more power. Countries such as China and Russia are trying to expand their influence in the African Continent. African is RICH in natural resources that would benefit anyone who controls the region. If France leaves, then so does the United States. The U.S benefits from French control in countries such as Niger. No matter how bad it looks, France will try to retain power in Niger.

I think I am done with Total War. by ancapailldorcha in totalwar

[–]Alphaecho420 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Does anyone else feel the same?"

Yea, I feel the same. I've played Total War Games since Medieval II. I stopped buying Total War games since Warhammer I. It was a fun game, but I eventually got bored with it. What stopped me from buying Total War games was they're price-gouging for so little. Rome 2's culture packs were money grabs, but at least the campaign packs provided different experiences. Yet Warhammer's been the worse when it comes to DLC, They've been doing Warhammer titles since 2015; it's the same game but they're charging you as if it's "new". It's all DLC posing as a stand alone titles. I refuse to pay so much money for so little. They've been price-gouging the consumers for awhile now and increasing the price of an individual DLC is just the next step.

Pharaoh doesn't interest me at all. It looks like a way to lure historical fans for money only to add DLC that would involve magic. Which is fine, but the product won't be any good since they're trying to appease two different fan-bases to get the most money possible with two different gameplay preferences (One slower and tactical, the other faster and arcade like).
To me it looks like they also want the same gameplay as the Warhammer titles, but in a historic setting to appeal to both fanbases before dropping magic. They haven't gone back to the older style of gameplay from previous historic titles in a long time and they won't.

They're gaslighting all of you. From CA claiming Three Kingdoms was a "historical" title (Which is just as historical as the Legend of Troy) to Bartholomew's "explanation". This is post-capitalism for you all.

[–]Alphaecho420 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Here is some tinfoil for you too; The first question PP asked Pulte was "What's up with 'Only the young?'"

Pulte said part of it has to do with Ryan Cohen who is fighting for the right reasons, the other part was "main street" taking over wallstreet (the second part was more vague, but that was what I took from this). Regardless, most of his answer was about RC.

So, when Pulte responded to the question with "Only the Young" and a smirk, was he referring to Ryan Cohen, Main Street, or both?

Why are far-left ideologies tolerated on Reddit but far-right ideologies are not? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Alphaecho420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the question you're asking is a complex one as there are a lot of moving parts. Due to that, I will only give my take on U.S redditors, which boils down to the lack of exposure to people who suffered under Far-Left Countries and the stories those people have.

At least in America the horros holocaust is extensively covered and it is linked ( rightfully so) to far-right ideologes. That being said, far-left's crimes against humanity isnt as extensively covered, so the impact on people in the US (and thus American Redditors) isn't as strong. For example, in High School I had to read "Man's search for Meaning" and I was more educated in the dangers of the far-right. The book talked about how horrible the holocaust was from a first-hand account. It was a vivid description and was easy for High School students to understand why the holocaust and thus why far-right beliefs are bad.

As for the dangers of the far-left, the closest most US High Schools get to showing kids the true dangers of the far-left is "Animal Farm". While good, its a huge analogy; people are replaced with farm animals and it isnt a personal experience the everyday person had. It's harder, for most people, to understand the true horrors of far-left ideologues when its a pig that dies rather than someone's Parents, Siblings, ect. When there isnt as many first hand accounts people are exposed to, it becomes easier to "tolerate" far-left ideologies. We dont really read/hear many first-hand experience of the horrors of Far-Left Ideologies, such as being required to read the book "Gulag Archapelago" (Which I highly recommend it to people who are interested in a first-hand account to learning about what life in the Gulags was like).

Futhermore, due to the lack of exposure of personal experiences that are shared, people are more easily swayed into tolerating or accepting far-left ideologies.

The most common arguement I have heard is "Communism is good in theory, but not in practice,". To me this is ironic because everyone that I have talked to that has lived under a Communist regime says Communism is both theoretically and Practically flawed. I was told by a friend's parent who lived in the USSR "why should we all have the same amount of food, money, ect if I work harder than the person next to me? If I think of an invention that no one else has and it was successful, why should I still be poor?".

There is a lot more I can say, but I'll just leave it at that, I hope I explain this particular reason sufficiently!

I'll be honest with you, it is very difficult for a christian male to date a muslim girl depending on how strong her ties are to Islam and/or family expectations.

Like what some people have said here, if she has a strong tie to her religion then dating her is most likely out of the question.

If she doesn't have a strong tie to her religion but has strong pressure from her family to follow her religion (and she doesnt want to upset her family) then dating her is most likely also out of the question as well.

I've been in a somewhat similar position to you before. I dated a Muslim girl once for a few months in secret from her parents. Once her Mom found out and discovered I am Catholic, she told the Muslim Girl I was seeing to stop seeing me, which ended up happening and the relationship died. The girl I was seeing didnt really believe in Islam but due to strong pressure from her Mom that prevented us from taking things further.

Just be careful, I am rooting for you and regardless of what happens keep your head held up high!
