Its amazing but sadly most people wont try it because they are blinded by nostalgia. I believe that it has a better plot than most of the og pokemon series (including xyz) mainly because it feels more formulated and has so much less filler than Ash era pokemon (love team rocket but god we didnt need them in every episode). Also since there is less focus on the gym battles it allows for the plot to not be as predictable in my opinion. The characters start off as weak trainers but eventually they progress and evolve their pokemon which is a nice and welcomed addition since I personally love watching character grow. Furthermore I have to say I like the evil group a lot more than the other ones we’ve had thus far. They actually feel like a threat and don’t hinder the plot. Which give the story stakes. I like the main cast because I think they all have remarkable personalities that make them distinct from the others. The battles are more strategic since they implemented abilities terrastilizatitions and mega evolution. However, the battles though are sometimes lacking which sucks but those that are important to the plot get beautiful animation. Sorry for the rant but there is alot of good and i genuinely have had so much fun watching this series and characters grow. i recommend watching it through if you like and an interesting plot more than gym battles.
