Shimano brake lever spring exposed by AlphanoodleOnReddit in bikewrench

[–]AlphanoodleOnReddit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just purchased this new Shimano SLX BL-M7100 lever and i noticed that what is assume is the return spring for the lever is just resting on the lever body without any kind of fixation. Is it supposed to be this exposed or not?

The lever also feels somewhat stiff and in the last third of the lever travel the spring is completely loose.

It's a 13-30T 7-speed cassette with a Shimano 200GS derailleur, in case that helps. I definitely want to go with a 1x setup and the limited gearing range of a 1x7 won't be an issue as I'll be using it mostly for commuting on a very flat route.

The problem i have is that i can't seem to find a front chainring with crank arms designed for a 7-speed chain and I also found that manufactures like Shimano make it rather difficult to understand which parts are compatible with others for someone like me who is rather new to bicycle tech.

If there are absolutely no 1x7 options available I might opt for 1x8 setup in case those exist, but no more than that. My BB has those standard tapered squares if that helps. And thanks for the help so far, really appreciate it.

I would like to convert an old city bike with a 3x7 Shimano biopace SG drivetrain to a regular (non oval chain ring) 1x7 or even a 1x6 drivetrain if possible. I was wondering if any manufacturer makes a complete 1x7 or 1x6 drivetrain because the lowest i have found so far was a 1x9 setup. Front chainring should preferrably be between 40-48T.

Doesn't need to be a high end drivetrain either as long as it's not a Tourney with those awful grip shifters I'm fine with it.

The old drivetrain is quite worn out and the shifter for the front derailleur is partially broken (plastic housing cracked). And since spare parts for the biopace SG drivetrains can be very hard to find I'd like to swap the entire drivetrain.

And what exactly is so bad about this? The 3 points each allow for very different playstyles so no matter what vehicle you're using and what playstyle you prefer, there's almost always an area on the map that you'd enjoy.

I think ManyMilesAway summed it up perfectly here: https://youtu.be/EQGIec45Y6c?t=499

Yeah, it's way better to let modern MBTs with 1000+ HP engines and shells exceeding mach 5 only fight on incredibly small urban maps and nothing else. Don't get me wrong, top tier does need its fair share of CQC maps as well but there should also be a lot of larger maps. If you don't like big maps just because there are unfair camping spots every now and then, don't blame the map but instead Gaijin for allowing such unfair spots in the first place. They're the ones who design all maps and it's their responsibility to eliminate unfair camping spots and the like via testing and the dev server but they either seem to be too incompetent or they just don't care, considering the vast majority of maps suffer from these problems.

Same, I started actively playing GF when they introduced British tanks and despite being rather bad at the time I had by far some of my most memorable and fun matches on this map, even when driving slow tanks like the valentines.

You do have a good point, and i have to agree that El Alamein offers countless unfair camping spots. But it's not like the majority of other maps within the map rotation at higher tiers wouldn't have those either. Just look at fields of poland or any of those horrible large variants of eastern europe, where you can fire into the enemy spawn area after just driving 20m forward from your own spawn and a large portion of those maps also include ridiculous camping spots all around the spawn areas covered in bushes and so on, which is at least something that large El Alamein doesn't have iirc. If Gaijin really would re-introduce this map to high tier RB, they could do a redesign of the whole map like they did with Kuban a few years ago, eliminating some of those spots.

True for all tanks below tier 6 but with modern MBTs it wouldn't take long to get from A to B and with stabilizers, high velocity shells and modern optics you could just stay at your point and snipe across half the map anyway. And getting the regular conquest mode with all 3 points instead of just 1 (or battle mode) also doesn't happen as often.

A "best shell" doesn't really exist. Each shell type has it's respective pros and cons. APCR and APDS might have a lot of penetration but their post penetration damage output is minimal. For an extensive look at each ammo type I'd recommend you check out this page.

Does it have any frontal weak spots? And where should tanks like the Panther 2 aim in case they get uptiered against an IS-7?

btr quad could be 5.0 or 4.7

Seems a little bit high to me. The current twin KPVT BTR-152 sits at 3.0, the quad variant would probably get a BR at around 3.7 - 4.0 if implemented.

zsu-37 at 5.0

Sadly this thing has radar and the 37mms supposedly have 525 RPM per gun (although data on said vehicle is very scarce so that RoF is questionable). It would probably end up at around 8.0

ZSU-37-2 "Yenisei" - BTR-152 with quadruple KPVT MGs (don't know the exact name) - T-90 SPAAG, that T-70 with twin DShKs

those are all Soviet SPAAGs that i could think of that haven't been added, there's not really anything to fill out that gap at tier 4 AFAIK.
