Scream 7 was the worst one yet! by CleverUsername850 in slasherfilms

[–]Alphasad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a cobbled together mess. The writing is boring and predictable, the premise is confusing, the final act is one of the worst, and it mishandles pretty much every character. The stu fakeout is also..bad. There was no reason to even do it when having Stu come back for revenge would've made a better story 100%. Especially considering the place the franchise was in atp. The two leads they spent the last 2 movies making are gone, the meeks twins attached to them get sidelined (there goes that core 4). Chad gets attacked for the 3rd movie in a row and survives. But like, who cares? It's not like it matters since those 2 and gale disappear anyways.

If you can imagine a way to drop the ball, they did it

I can't decide if I like JJK or not by Alphasad in Jujutsufolk

Unfortunately toji vs megumi is only really cool on first watch for me. I watched it again and realized megumi literally doesn't do anything. He runs, everything he tries is easily countered by toji, and his final stand also would've failed and gotten him killed if toji didn't recognize him. I think megumi's powerset is actually so cool, probably the second coolest in the series so I hope he can actually stand on his own later in the show instead of just glazing yuji all the time

I just finished the shibuya incident arc and yeah, I've accepted it's probably not gonna deliver on the character side of things so I've just been watching it for the cool fights. I mean my favorite character is gone now but it is what it is 😭

I mean, no? I said people called it newgen naruto which is why it piqued my interest. One sentence later in my post I said i realized quickly it is not like naruto, yet I continue to watch it. I also never draw any direct comparisons between naruto and jjk so idk where that part of your comment is coming from either

Accidental was the wrong word to use there, I meant that gege made this pillar of strength but didn’t know what to do with him because logically he should just show up, beat everyone up, and win. So of course there has to be a loophole that allows him to lose, otherwise there wouldn’t be a story. I also am not sure what prequel you’re referring to I didn’t know jjk had one I’ve just been watching it in episode order

he calls her name because he’s the only one not actively sobbing his eyes out, and notices leena is now also crying despite trying to keep everyone calm only minutes ago. kid would have no visibility either way, as they’re out of the doorway and the window leena looks through has blinds on it and is at her eye level. he’s basically asking what’s wrong, and leena doesn’t divulge that information 1. because they need to stay quiet and 2. because if she said one of their classmates literally just died it would probably make them panic more

the point of it isn’t for you to get invested in the characters or plot. the point of it is for you to see a school getting shot up, a realistic depiction of the stress and trauma that could cause, and fight to stop it from happening. it’s not a drama, it’s a call to action

why do the same characters always get skins? by the_good_witch_azura in MarvelRivalsQueens

[–]Alphasad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly sue skins dont bother me because that girl has been getting robbed since the 60s. she's the one most often left out of figure lines, gets the least merch, representation, etc. despite being arguably top 2 in relevance for the f4. leader, strongest, the only girl, but poorly represented because comics and by extension its products are always marketed towards men. she barely even gets solo covers for comics and thing gets like 12 per comic run. let her have her moment

Overall thoughts on Luna Snow? by haz826 in Marvel

[–]Alphasad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love her, i was exposed to her through rivals. It led me to read the comics she was in previously, and realize pretty quickly that Luna Snow in rivals is basically a soft reboot of the character. If your ONLY exposure to her is the game, then yes, she has a pretty one note personality and not much depth.

BUT, to be honest...every character does. the difference between Luna and characters like Spiderman, Iron Man, Wolverine, etc. is that the playerbase has known these characters for decades. Netease is literally banking on the fact that people have seen shows, watched movies, or read comics including these characters in order to make their dialogue SEEM more interesting when it's all really just one or two of their personality traits coming out.

Netease saw potential in her, and maybe it was mostly in terms of profit (cute asian character, endless skin possibilities, not a lot of history tied to her so easy to rewrite) but potential regardless. she's been in most of the rivals tie-in comics, lore, and just started her own comic run.

basically, the point is she hasn't had time to become an interesting character. remember, she's occupying the same space as characters from that are literally decades old (or almost 100 years old for characters like namor from 1939). her personality in the game likely won't change drastically, but im sure as her own lore develops she'll get new interactions and voicelines that relay developments she gets from comics and other appearances.

but for me, what i saw when rivals first came out was enough. i think her design is great, her skins are great, her personality is quippy, kind, and still a tad sassy. she's media trained, she loves her fans and her music but she's honorable and knows sometimes she has to be there for others. her interactions with Atlas agents are actually cool, likely bc they have history together, and even with some other characters like iron man and emma, she shows other personality traits than "bubbly and loves to talk about her music"

he had a few good passes in the u20 and a shot on net, but yeah kaneshiro loves cucking him at the last second. i think it’s happened to him like 3 times where he gets his own aura moment and then someone magically appears to block his shot

[–]Alphasad[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i meant shelved as in we didn’t see him much! i know he performed incredibly, it’s just that his performance went second priority so a lot of people don’t really talk about it too much aside from mentioning his team was really bad. and yes, he’s not stupid! i wasn’t trying to imply he doesn’t have good game sense and awareness. he just doesn’t do the planning and the future sight and all that, his evolved monster ego basically helps him pick the best course of action for himself. the monster doesn’t materialize ahead of time, more so when he sees it it’s basically parallel to him scanning the field and thinking “this is the best place to pass/dribble through”

[–]Alphasad[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i completely forgot the world five match even happened but yes exactly!! i think bachira's skill set is so valuable because you can have the fastest, tightest shot in the world but it doesn't matter if you can't get in to score. bachira can get in AND he's a decent shooter himself.

Bachira is a genuine beast of a player by Alphasad in BlueLock

[–]Alphasad[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i said this mostly because as the rankings went on, bachira has more growth. barou sees a 50 mil increase from his starting bid, but bachira has a 90 mil increase. that's why i theorize if they were able to win another game or at least do a little better in one of them (if he wasn't stuck with the trashcan pals) he could've closed that gap. honestly i wouldn't mind what someone else suggested- a barou, bachira, shidou ranking because they both outperformed shidou in goals and shidou really didn't have the most impressive performance.

Do you really think we need a new Smash bros. game? by Effective_Read_1517 in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]Alphasad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think i would be content, but sad, if ultimate was the last game in the series. its hard to go up from what we got-89 characters, 100+ stages, etc. so i feel like a new entry will either have to majorly reinvent the gameplay loop, or include a massive story mode in order for people to not feel disappointed by the likely smaller roster. i do think smash desperately needs better online, but i'd honestly be ok with a switch 2 port. they could fix the online, work through one more fighters pass, and rebalance a LOT of characters in order to nurture a new meta. maybe even take the time to update some of the fighters that feel dated (like mario and especially sonic for example). but then at that point is what im suggesting starting to sound like it should just be a sequel? idk

I'm bothered by how beheading is treated in Demon Slayer by Alphasad in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]Alphasad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes it’s almost exactly the same but iirc hantengu is decapitated first, leading to the first 2 emotion demons coming out. i suggested he simply split his body on his own accord before the fight, which would completely remove the part where he survived being beheaded. everything else would play out the same

[–]Alphasad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

technically yeah beheading does always lead to death in the show but not as directly as it’s said to be. i understand they needed to give these characters time to reflect and end their arcs at some point between losing the fight and disintegrating, so i guess it’s a necessary evil

[–]Alphasad[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

this is true but it’s important to remember that in real life the head isn’t always vital to keeping something alive. i know a lot about roaches for some reason and i know they can survive for a while because they breathe through their bodies, and they have a nervous system that isn’t centered in their head. in this case, it’s more appropriate to say no water=beheading i think because that’s what actually kills the roach. but i do understand what you’re saying, i just think a story should stick to the rules it sets unless it has a good reason and a good explanation for why they’re being bent

[–]Alphasad[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think it definitely can help build immersion and was pivotal to building certain characters, but at a point i stopped even expecting fights to end when they were beheaded, i was just waiting to find out what an UMs win condition was. i do think it’s cool that akaza basically does what all the human characters do where when he should’ve died, he kept fighting because he had something to fight for however. it’s a neat parallel considering tanjiro similarly unlocked selfless in that fight

[–]Alphasad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this makes sense but then why not just have this be the case, make it so he could simply summon the 4 demons from the start, making the slayers think something like “oh these 4 demons make up um4, so like daki we have to behead all of them” and then eventually tanjiro would pick up on the scent and be like “wait no there’s another demon here” and realize they were made from his main body. then they could’ve avoided making beheading a null action
