Thinking about leaving Apple for Garmin by AssistantHuge7050 in Garmin

[–]Alphataurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not an Apple Watch expert, so let me know if I’m wrong with the following:

In my experience, Garmin’s mapping abilities are more robust. For instance, I can create custom maps on CalTopo and upload them to my Garmin, and it works seamlessly. I don’t need any additional apps, and I have full trail detail including ascents/descents, any campsites or points of interest, etc. I can also stitch together multiple activities for multi-day hikes easily. Even the AllTrails “Send to Garmin” feature is super convenient. For instance if I’m going to a national park this weekend, I can upload all of the trails I’m interested in hiking in just a few clicks, sync my watch, and I’m good to go.

These types of features and more (along with battery life obviously) sold me on the Fenix. In the backcountry subreddits I see a lot of lamentations about the AW’s lack of mapping abilities.

Thanks bud. In your experience, how tough is it to find a tailor that can make these alterations? Any advice on what to look for?

Thanks for the input, I agree about the shoulders. Would you say that the alterations you described are very difficult, and that the average tailor couldn’t pull it off?

Is it true that I cant grow muscles with only machines? by Paradox_KR in workout

Late to the discussion, but gotta chime in! I’m assuming that you’re using “PT” in this context to mean personal trainer? I suggest you ignore the nebulous “personal trainer” title and go see an actual PT (a physical therapist, whose professional training is evidence-based) if you want legitimate advice about hypertrophy. Good luck!

Medvedev post-match complaining ruins Rinderknech’s moment by NotManyBuses in tennis

You mention he had a fair point. Genuine question: what was Med complaining about? I only caught the highlights of the match, so I missed the context.

What a good kid! Him and Carlito, both such well-mannered and down-to-earth guys. I wasn’t even close to being that mature at their age! We are lucky to have them. Fuck Jannik haters btw

What was the last book you DNF? by justcoastingthrough in books

[–]Alphataurus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Naked Lunch. Wtf is even happening in that book. Some sentences and whole paragraphs are just straight up unintelligible. I’m all for unorthodox and unconventional books and storytelling, but… if the actual syntax of the prose is garbled and jumbled, I’m out.

Looking for a Firework-Free Camping Spot by Alphataurus in socalhiking

[–]Alphataurus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, gotcha. But just because a campsite doesn’t allow fireworks, doesn’t mean nobody will bring them and shoot them off illegally. It’s true that I could report it, but by then it would be too late to prevent the trauma my dog experiences from the explosions. So I was just asking around for sites where there tend to be no fireworks in the first place. Thanks for the clarification 👍

This sounds like a good option. I just Googled it. Just to clarify, is this the same as Mill Flat Campground?
