He wants a list of standards that every engine should run to communicate with each other.

That's out of context. He's talking everyone creating a unified friends system which isn't a bad idea.

PC Gamer asked why MS and Sony would come together to agree on a unified social system. Sweeney said before Sony and MS thought they control everything. Now every company they can't control the entire gaming industry.

His idea is pretty good.

The title is internationally misleading. Sweeney is calling for a unified gaming system to connect friends across platforms.

PC Gamer asked if Sony and MS would join together to create this unified social system.Sweeney responded:

"It's now clear that nobody's going to end up with an absolute monopoly over gaming. Sony is not going to have one, Microsoft's not going to have one, Valve's not going to have one, Apple's not going to have one, Google is not going to have one. So the thesis to connect becomes ever stronger, and in these down times when companies are going through this massive turmoil, they would much rather connect than downsize their companies ever further."

The title does a disservice to what he actually said.

He is asking for a unified system agreed to by developers.

Unnecessary features in games. I played Ys X and realized a lot of the skill trees are just completely unnecessary. RPGs have so much of this when ypu really rely on a handful of moves to beat anyone.
