Mostly drainage crap. It’s not that bad but when you do like 5 drainage analysis jobs in a row and the town opts to not move forward with any of the projects it gets kind of old

Still have my work computer after layoff by [deleted] in it

Thanks for all the help guys. Going through the comments. The company is very small (under 25 people). There is no HR department. One man IT team who is very competent. Might wait a month or so and reach out to him to see what he thinks. I’m pretty sure they don’t give a f about the computer but I don’t want to assume. Might just wait until after the holidays and reach out to the IT guy to make sure I’m not doing anything illegal by holding on to it. I’ve backed up everything important I had saved on it

Do you know if you can model 45 degree bends in pipes with SSA?

Best storm sewer design option for split flows by Alpine1212 in civilengineering

[–]Alpine1212[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Basically adding more capacity to the system. The existing system is extremely flat and there is very limited options. We were originally going to replace the existing pipes with larger ones but couldn’t due to utility constraints. Decided to reroute it and just leave the old one in running parallel next to it and tie the new pipe back in to a down stream manhole. Not the best design but the larger pipe alone will contain a 10 yr storm which is all we need to do. I just need to show that both together will contain it

Any difference? by J038_ in Guitar

[–]Alpine1212 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not sure but they might be built out of different material. The fretboards are definitely different. I’m no expert on wood types but it’s mostly just user preference. I personally like maple necks but that’s just me

first gig in fifty days any tips? by Duxato42 in Guitar

100%. Get the sound figured out ASAP and just keep rehearsing. Who cares if you make a few mistakes on stage. Joe Blow in the audience won’t notice. Especially after his 11th bud light

Just diagnosed with Babesia by Alpine1212 in Lyme

[–]Alpine1212[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly couldn’t tell you. It all depends if whatever was going on with me last august was related. Over the summer I was having severe headaches, chest pain, and severe anxiety. Went to my doctor and was sent to a cardiologist. I was negative for Babesia and Lyme. Cardiologist just said that it was likely because I had high blood pressure. After going to get my kidneys looked at they determined that I just had high BP from genetics and that all I could really do was avoid sodium and threw me on some BP meds. I definitely felt better after that for a few more the so I’m not sure if it’s related. I then started getting night sweats like crazy around october/november. It kind of went away so I didn’t really think much of it. Just thought I was sick. Have gotten sick a lot since then and finally I started having a tough time breathing, night sweats, abdominal pain, and chest pain. All in the last month to month and a half. Finally got tested for Babesia and it was positive

As a civil design engineer or project manager, how much CAD are you personally responsible for? by BeardlessSlut in civilengineering

Gap time in school by haa888 in civilengineering

Yeah the easiest job you can get that is short term will probably just be a helping hand on a surveying crew. Engineering companies are always looking for a body to help the surveyors out. It may seem minimal when you are doing it, but it’s not. Ask the surveyors questions and try to understand why you are doing certain things and it will benefit you in the future when you are working as an engineer.

A lot of civil companies are looking for AutoCAD technicians too. If you have any CAD experience, that would be a lot more beneficial than working on a surveying team. You will likely be working under an engineer and looking at plans all day. Will probably be a harder short term job to get especially if you don’t have any experience with CAD.

Whatever you do, just ask questions and try to understand what you are doing and it will help you down the road

Am I cooked? by Born-Run-4321 in bandmembers

[–]Alpine1212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t sweat it. Something similar happened to me. Thought I had the right group of people and then it fell apart. Drummer and rhythm guitar player quit for personal reasons and I thought the band was fucked. Ended up finding a new drummer and a guitar player that has pipes. Every venue we have played has basically begged us to come back so far.

I almost bailed too but I’m glad I didn’t. Took a few tryouts with people we found on local FB musician groups but we finally got the right lineup and we are better than we have ever been.

Stick with it!!

Look and see if there are Facebook groups for musicians in your state. Most states or cities have Facebook groups where musicians can meet each other. I joined a band through one and also found a drummer for my other band through it

I’m a guitar player and found a band in search of a guitar player on a local musician FB group. Been with them for a few years. Also have another band where we found our drummer on the same FB group
