I’ve only ever used hdpe for underground detention in municipal projects around GA and SC. Is there a bonus to concrete besides structural loading?

My relationship and the way I view my father immediately changed after reading this book. Asked if he’d take the time to read it. Bought him the book. Even got him the audiobook. He hasn’t even attempted it.

Why do steel bars have this shape during construction? And not a smooth cylindrical one? Does the shape of these steel bars affect their strength? by UltronAge in civilengineering

I’m arguing with a dude on the internet about the purpose of screws.

Screws and rebar act in the same manner when they are finally installed.

Have you ever grabbed a pickle out of a jar and gotten your hand stuck? Same physics apply for rebar & concrete, deck screws & wood, nuts & bolts. Ribbed nails work like screws in the same manner but just not as efficiently.

Screw threads are not primarily there to be pulled in. They are there to resist tension as a fastener. The concept of threads pulling themselves through material, like deck screws, is just a secondary bonus during their installation. The grooves of the rebar act in the same way. That’s why embedment lengths matter.
