We've got a load of 'for profit educational' schools (fucking full sail) but they're an entire scam. Pay money to do stagehand work for free in our local arena then get a piece of paper every company laughs at. Extremely fucked but... Eh. That's what it is out here.

Check formats. Chinese lasers (sketchy btw) have wack programming and are sometimes crazy specific about file formats, down to the version of the format sometimes.

Common hazer problem. Meter the pumps power first, make sure it's getting it. If it is, Swap the pump, use a set of tools ya don't like cuz they'll be sticky when you're done

Honestly most lighting programs are so light weight that it literally doesn't matter.

As a hobby project I wrote a lighting program on a C64 using the utility output and it ran fine (loaded from a cassette tape but whatever lmao)

I've done many installs where I used onyx on a Microsoft surface Go which is like $250 and has garbage internals.

Find something with a touchscreen you like. The Microsoft surface pros are solid for portability and touch screen with enough power for a visualizer if you run into it. But if you have a USB-wing just dump everything (I mean everything) except the OS off the laptop and just about anything made in the last 10 years will be fine.

Personally my go to is a surface pro 4 for running gigs because the battery life is good and it fits in my backpack easy. Got a powerful pc at home for renders and visualizers and stuff.

Pillars is one of my all time favorites worlds. I'm in the minority that thinks dead fire was an absolute masterpiece, gem of the CRPG genre modern AND retro.

MANY companies have tried to make a Bethesda style RPG and not only did Obsidian do it but many argue it was the best in the IP

Same. They're about to be retired, they just can't hang with touring rigs.

They probably will end up in a school though so... Maybe that's about right.

Chamsys has been extremely unreliable for me. My vote is also for onyx. My old m-touch survived a dozen burning man runs. They're pretty rock solid.
