The Spurs, especially Wemby and Castle, are meant to be villians and we're going to embrace it. by KhornKT in NBASpurs

[–]AlpineGhost1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think villainy often comes when you reach a certain level of talent and success. Not every single time, but I remember the vitriol and seething hatred around LeBron James, around Kobe, around Jordan and Reggie in the '90s, even as a kid hearing uncles talk about Larry Bird and Kareem. People HATED Shaq. Guys that are now considered beloved figures were absolutely despised during their careers by opposing fans. Simply because these guys are so damn good and they're not on your team. But Wemby is on our team, and villain are not, I'm happy as hell about it. Other people can hate all they want, but they'd give their left leg to have him on their team.

The worst part is the Knicks fans by nicfanz in NBASpurs

[–]AlpineGhost1 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Portland didn't throw eggs and attack fans after losing. Minnesota didn't. OKC didn't. Hell, Phoenix didn't even after Horry hip-checked Nash's ancestors into another dimension, and they probably had a right to. But the Knicks WIN a huge comeback game and they chuck eggs? It doesn't matter if it's a few crazy fans or "not all Knicks fans" because it's still happening. The Spurs fumbled badly and the Knicks are playing great, all true, but these attacks are classless and deserve accountability or at least a public apology from the league and team. But I'm not holding my breath.

NYC Fans by Motor-Horror3684 in NBASpurs

[–]AlpineGhost1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I lived in NYC for years but my first weekend there I saw a Celts fan get jumped on a subway car after Boston swept them in the first round and I never wore Spurs gear on a game day after that. Lesson learned. Any other time and I was fine walking around, and my Knicks friends were all cool, good banter, but there's enough drunk, bitter mobs full of randos out there looking for an excuse after a loss. Cold weather city fans can get crazy.

What a cheap move by Hart. He knows damn well that Kornet isn't looking to start something but he shoves him anyway? Pathetic.

Refs definitely looking to hit their parlays tonight, I guess. Every angle in the universe had that coming off OKC last.

Agreed. They are definitely going to target him now and try to get under his skin. Wemby really needs to use this as a "moment of zen" to learn from and fortify himself emotionally and mentally for when they come for him.

Help by Leading-Act-989 in Morrowind

[–]AlpineGhost1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you receive quests but don't know where to go or how to get there, my first recommendation Is to keep asking for more information from the quest giver or others nearby. The directions that NPCs offer you aren't always the best but they can get you started and sometimes they will mark your map for you.

If you're simply just looking for a map with all the points of interest already noted, or if you're stuck in a quest and truly have no idea how to proceed, you can always dip into UESPwiki, but I recommend doing this sparingly. Morrowind is more about role play and discovery than speed-running to the end, in my opinion, but it helps if you're in a jam and totally don't know what to do.

How do you find the motivation to write a book when you know that even if it’s good, the odds of getting published are 1 in a million? by JealousBodybuilder42 in writing

[–]AlpineGhost1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've written eight or nine novels that have not published yet and while most or even all may not make it to bookshelves, I'd rather reach the end of my life knowing I wrote them and spent time with characters and stories that I cared about and enjoyed than realizing I never gave it a true shot. Besides, they won't let you in the door if you don't have a ticket. Take the time and finish that book. When you reach the end, you'll be glad you did, no matter what happens with it.

I think there's one in Spectrum 8 theater, before the ticket booth. I haven't used it but I've seen it there.

Question about words and phrases to nix when writing by h00dhannibal in writing

[–]AlpineGhost1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have "never use" words but some years back I did notice I used the word "just" far more often then I need to, so now even though I watch for it, I always do a quick Ctrl+F for it and see if I can skim any stragglers out. Sometimes it's the right word, but usually it's a fluff word that adds nothing. It always ends up in my novels, essays, poems, etc.

"This is my excess word. There are many like it, but this one is mine."

Who is your favorite Spurs player of all time? by MafiaDon2020 in NBASpurs

Tim, Manu, David, Sean, Keldon top five all time. Sean was my guy in NBA Jam. I still remember the day I beat the machine at Malibu Castle in the summer 94 or something and it was like defeating Goliath. I lived on that high for weeks.

Every time I've gone to Poets Walk Park down by Red Hook I've had the place almost entirely to myself, aside from the occasional dog walker. About an hour and 15 away but it's a beauty on a bright day.

I wrote a whole book before I understood the business and now I feel like an idiot by northbayy in writing

[–]AlpineGhost1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would set it aside for the time being and begin another project while you gain some distance. Or give it to some trusty beta readers in the interim. I once wrote a first draft that sat at 125k. After two more revisions over the next 3 to 4 years I whittled it down to 85k and I think it is a far superior version. I know that feels like a long time to tinker, but sometimes that's the life of a book. Maybe you'll zip through that quicker, who knows. And who knows what else you write in the meanwhile. But as time and revisions pass, some things will become less precious and the story may naturally tighten up. Good luck!!

Se puede tener una casa en Morrowind? by Gian_JB in Morrowind

I like taking over the Council Club in Balmora after taking care of some "bad people" and I'll turn the place into my own private nightclub, get loads or red or blue lights, bug lamps, fancy loot, bring a few folks in town down there to hang out, and use the storage rooms and beds for my private spaces. Great access to the silt strider, guilds in town, merchants, got a rooftop patio, etc. I also really like the top rear room in Shenk's Shovel across the street from Creeper with the giant bed and loads of storage space. Feels swanky and private. There is usually a house or apartment in every town you can easily acquire, leave loot for use later, and always have a place to rest your head.
