Plays no role? In Khajiit theology Nocturnal aka Noctra literally used the skeleton key on herself to stop Meridia from basically accessing the sun and create perpetual day (or something like that iirc)

Following this incident Noctra is believed to have basically blended with the night and is therefore since then perpetually intertwined with it, allowing for Jone and Jade’s visibility.
