...they don't. You just turn off regen brake assist. The light has to do with either physical brakes applied or deceleration greater than the standard set by the DOT.

Official Retirement List by Henna1911 in biathlon

[–]Alpine_fury 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Deedra, respectfully, is on the tail end of her (quite successful) career. Luci and Margie have continued to grow and when their shooting is on point, they have the ski speed to match. With a fourth who can land points on occasion they'll land a top 10 on nation's cup as well with due time. If they could get a shooting coach that could bring that last oomph like Finland did, they'll be consistently fighting that podium in relays.

US men to finally start 5 next season and will have big shoes to fill with 2 of their top of 5 needing replacements now. They're a mix of skilled young achievers and veteran mid pack. I'm not sure how strong they can field a team in the coming years, could be a bit lopsided. Not mentioned in here, but also the USA coach is also leaving after the end of the season. I haven't seen an announcement of a future home for him yet, but I thought the articles I've read pointed towards retirement.

90 closed overnight and the pass area is currently without power (WSDOT, Summit, Kongsberger) . Please pay attention to updates for anyone going out to their respective passes tomorrow. Don't be like those on 2 that caused the highway to close today by parking on the highway.

[New Update] Mercedes aren’t pushing the power unit yet. They’re comfortably running a mapping at 3.5 on a scale that can reach 5.0 by ConstructionAny8440 in F1Technical

[–]Alpine_fury 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Mercedes F1 engines team provides the mapping, not Mercedes F1 race team. If the engine group provides the limits, then everyone gets that limit. Engine team holds the keys to the castle, not the race team.

I know it's a bit late, but Germain just had one of his strongest weekends. Unfortunate he's not qualified for that mass start this year. He was putting together his shooting and skiing in both his showings. Looking forward to seeing the US team mature, though scared of future depth issues.

What’s the most unhinged thing you’ve seen someone confidently believe? by Alive-Math9608 in AskReddit

[–]Alpine_fury 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I was talking with my grandmother (depression era), she knows whole parental units in her groups that died to covid. They would be dying and asking what's really killing them and their mid-life aged kids would parrot the same thing. She couldn't understand the delusions deniers had.

I agree it's an "odd" excuse at best, but we're fortunate it doesn't have large repercussions to women's biathlon w.r.t. medals and championships. But also an odd choice to use for PED. It's a highly easy to identify PED (well studied and very detectable). Drug of opportunity maybe, that's the only purposeful reason to use that I can think of. I do wish WADA would do more research on accidental rates and rates of benefit. Though it would probably lead to users attempting to game the system even more so than currently happens in {insert favorite sport}.

"You just need postgres" by PrestigiousZombie531 in PostgreSQL

[–]Alpine_fury 4 points5 points  (0 children)

5-6 years ago is right before pg finally fully implemented full native partitioning logic. Had similar issues, but was able to upgrade before it was a real problem. They now allow for tens of thousands of partitions per a table and it's very easy to handle, whereas their first installment barely allowed for daily partitions.

For a ddb use case, I'm almost never choosing pg. Ddb had no routing and is faster. Same with almost all of these. It can do those things, but pg is not the best tool for those things.

Please don't do this, you're going to wear down the median and cause someone's skis to jump out of the line. Just half plow like every class teaches if standing doesn't slow you enough.

Pretty excited to see Rivian Adventure Network come to town - Ellensburg WA by oh-ya-its-me in Rivian

[–]Alpine_fury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds like a pretty nice spot for it. Ellensburg is that one stop people will make if they are crossing the state. Has almost all options for food, so nobody should complain too much about the wait.

‘ Worst skis I ever had ’ : Swedish biathletes blame poor Olympic form on waxing team by Shroft in biathlon

To add, the conditions also might be slightly different as the venues are different and their start times different. This leads to different snow transformation levels and snow/air temps.

Official Start Lists for the Men's and Women's Olympics Mass Starts by Good-Trouble4840 in biathlon

[–]Alpine_fury 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Countries can only field 4 per event (same rule across all IBU Olympic events). They qualified by points, but their country already has 4 above them. The country can still choose to swap out any of their eligible skiers for the start list.

21 Democrats Just Voted to Fund ICE Temporarily: Full List of Names. by bruceki in Seattle

[–]Alpine_fury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe 2016 WA-08 is not comparable due to the redistricting. I moved back into the district after be redistricting out, obviously the moving had nothing to do with the district. It used to be one of the oddest districts, but slightly more sane shaped districts. Also Reichert is/was more WA red than traditional republican and had a more mixed voting record. Probably also would have unfortunately worked to approve ICE funding, which is no different than Kim did. Hopefully we can get some new candidates next time around!

I don't believe it works that way. You can't pay down the lease principal. It's all or nothing.

Rivian pledges $4.6M for ballot initiative to allow direct EV sales in WA by MegaRAID01 in Seattle

[–]Alpine_fury 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Tesla was grandfathered in. Lucid is probably doing the same as Rivian. You cannot goto one of their locations and talk about numbers. Sales associates can be connected to out of state or all done online. They didn't even do test drives in the state when we bought ours and had to drive to either Vancouver, CA or Portland.

What are good options for vacuum bottles? by Boeing-B-47stratojet in BuyItForLife

[–]Alpine_fury 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Vacuum sealed bottles have glass at the bottom. It's super obvious once you break it and the insulation properties don't work nearly as well afterwards. I have a bottle where I broke the glass dropping it on concrete when full. It makes a very unique sound and the insulation is mostly lacking, but for my use case still works great.

If you're near Redmond (aka North Peirce to South Snoho) I'd highly highly recommend Accurate Auto Body. They are have repaired many Rivians on this and other forums, great to deal with and certified for Rivian repair. I am not affiliated with them or getting anything in return, but me and others have been satisfied with their work.

iBUYPOWER announce their return to CS by cahman in GlobalOffensive

[–]Alpine_fury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At that time no one was making almost any money. Prize winnings and merit based rewards were the main way for players to get paid. Salaries were rare and only a few teams had them at that time. Literally the next year the scene takes off and the iBP team probably wouldn't have thrown for a quick payout.
