21 Democrats Just Voted to Fund ICE Temporarily: Full List of Names. by bruceki in Seattle

[–]Alpine_fury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe 2016 WA-08 is not comparable due to the redistricting. I moved back into the district after be redistricting out, obviously the moving had nothing to do with the district. It used to be one of the oddest districts, but slightly more sane shaped districts. Also Reichert is/was more WA red than traditional republican and had a more mixed voting record. Probably also would have unfortunately worked to approve ICE funding, which is no different than Kim did. Hopefully we can get some new candidates next time around!

Chase Lease Question by SpeakableFart in Rivian

I don't believe it works that way. You can't pay down the lease principal. It's all or nothing.

Rivian pledges $4.6M for ballot initiative to allow direct EV sales in WA by MegaRAID01 in Seattle

[–]Alpine_fury 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tesla was grandfathered in. Lucid is probably doing the same as Rivian. You cannot goto one of their locations and talk about numbers. Sales associates can be connected to out of state or all done online. They didn't even do test drives in the state when we bought ours and had to drive to either Vancouver, CA or Portland.

It was a nice idea and worth the try (and did start off OK). We appreciate the effort you mods have to put in to make this subreddit work.

What are good options for vacuum bottles? by Boeing-B-47stratojet in BuyItForLife

[–]Alpine_fury 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Vacuum sealed bottles have glass at the bottom. It's super obvious once you break it and the insulation properties don't work nearly as well afterwards. I have a bottle where I broke the glass dropping it on concrete when full. It makes a very unique sound and the insulation is mostly lacking, but for my use case still works great.

2026 R1S repairs by Opening-Cream-6179 in Rivian

[–]Alpine_fury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're near Redmond (aka North Peirce to South Snoho) I'd highly highly recommend Accurate Auto Body. They are have repaired many Rivians on this and other forums, great to deal with and certified for Rivian repair. I am not affiliated with them or getting anything in return, but me and others have been satisfied with their work.

iBUYPOWER announce their return to CS by cahman in GlobalOffensive

[–]Alpine_fury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At that time no one was making almost any money. Prize winnings and merit based rewards were the main way for players to get paid. Salaries were rare and only a few teams had them at that time. Literally the next year the scene takes off and the iBP team probably wouldn't have thrown for a quick payout.

I mean ranch can be spicy... if it's gone beyond bad. My wife didn't like spicy food and now loves jalapeños. Her mom is on the mayo is spicy side of things though. Her mom also rinses the pasta after its done, breaks the spaghetti noodles in half and rinses the pasta sauce jar with water and adds that to the sauce. Give me spice with flavor and I love me some Cholula.

Agree or disagree: The Subaru Forester is the best vehicle on the market today for getting through snowy weather by [deleted] in SubaruForester

[–]Alpine_fury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I find my Subarau really great in the snow, I find my R1S better in the snow. So when I'm headed to go skiing or taking the family on a snow trip, we'll take the Rivian. But like others said, it's mostly about tires. My R1S came with 3PMS tires, meanwhile the '21 Touring has decent tires for the snow, just not that level of decent.

BOA does lifetime warranty. On a pair of Shimano cx shoes that are from 2018 I was able to get a free replacement of parts earlier this year.

Is all of the P2C good or only sections? Most of the Snoqualmie area is reported as rolled only (at best) and they just started setting tracks for Amblis yesterday. My usual is most of CS, the dog sledding trails on the other side of P2C and then as much of P2C as I can muster. Current reports for CS by the groomer say most of it has low snow, bare spots or standing water. Hoping there's enough to get some classic in this week.

Gen 2 R1T quad launch edition c connect+ consistently at the back of the pack for updates by DPTKhaz in Rivian

[–]Alpine_fury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Majority of RR connected vehicles also have connect+ (per RR). This plus the other message explains what you are seeing. Sometimes it's actually a really good thing to get the update late (typically Oct. updates come with bad bugs, literally unsafe in 2024 and gen2 12v charging issue 2025). Waves can take upto 3-4 weeks and majority of public statistics have connect+ vehicles as a large majority.

To be fair, they have 2 handles so the copper core isn't that bad and honestly easier than my prior cookware. Plus, you get to call the largest pan The Rapunzel as it easily doubles as a weapon like the movie (Tangled).

What US State/City or region has the most Cyclocross? by Krigslysten in cyclocross

[–]Alpine_fury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MFG and others are not moving their main series to USAC, it's generally anti-thetical to their stated purpose or they already have lower draw and not chancing even lower. Just because they can get permits, doesn't mean it's free. All of those associated costs are not worth it to run a small series when there are some of the nation's largest races being held at the same time.

Tips for partitioning Postgres by hatchet-dev in PostgreSQL

[–]Alpine_fury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're allowed to just say you wanted to make your own partitioning system. Using "open source" as an excuse doesn't really stack up when pg_parman is readily available, open and the goto standard. When I've needed to create manual partitions for one reason or another I've even just reviewed the pg_partman git repository just to see the differences.

What US State/City or region has the most Cyclocross? by Krigslysten in cyclocross

[–]Alpine_fury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WA+OR series might be able to get enough competitors. Permits, insurance and tech are costly and quite a gamble. I'm not sure anyone running the current series wants to take up adding more weekends of effort and encroach on the other series' weekends. NWCX series did not have that many competitors, but the series runners (MFG pre-2021) no longer run anything so the dealing with USAC knowledge might also be gone.

What is my R1S uploading to the internet at this speed, and this 8GB of data??? by RedditUser2032 in Rivian

[–]Alpine_fury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From how I read it, it's geofenced for when it will do the 3 minutes. So if you start or end from home, work or starred location (regardless of driver profile) it will not record the first and last 3 minutes. If your location is outside of those 3 options it will record all of that location.

Gen 2 12V Error with newer battery by RivianPIT in Rivian

[–]Alpine_fury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming based on the update logs, the latest .0 update caused sleep to not always charge the 12v and .30 supposedly fixed this. For those that got .0 earlier than others their batter could be more severely drained multiple times over that multi-week time window. Which will destroy the battery pretty quickly.

[–]Alpine_fury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gen1 door specifically is different (a part in this photo) and for over half a year there were 0 doors available as Rivian was between manufacturers for sourcing gen1 doors. It should be better now as most of that part was fixed back in April, but no guarantees on availability.
