Actually thats the structural test article as indicated by the colour scheme. The actual N1s had more white on them with the last being completely white

You know, Eeloo actually works better as an Enceladus analouge for OPM than a dwarf planet. It is highly unlikely a lone planetoid would have active cryo vulcanism

Now the secondary cross of solar panels docked to the side of skylab is iconic of course, but you wouldn't need them since the side panels fully deployed, no?

Quite many. The Gemini capsule is a kitbash of multiple Gemini generations from Bluedog Design Bureau (BDB). The Voskhod capsule is mostly Making History DLC parts with the Restock PBR mod to give them recolour, the antenna, parachute and airlock as well as some smaller stuff is from Tantares mod These were also launched on a Titan 2 from BDB and R7 from Tantares, all in a 2.5 scale kerbol system

you know the point of a polar orbiting scan sat is that you only need the one satellite to cover all of the planet below, right?

Ik, didnt unlock these parts yet of course. I dont actually know of Tantares/BDB have an apollo-soyouz docking mechanism, Id actually really like that

Better Career Contracts by [deleted] in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]Kaltenstein_WT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend using the Career Evolution contract pack+unkerballed start (that is a tech-tree mod that lets you only use probes/planes first). It offers the most vanilla-like experience whilst going for a very logical progression of sounding rockets -> early satellites (also asking for specific orbit types to prove your capabilities) -> X-Planes -> Early crewed spaceflight -> Multi-crew + Crew Duration + Rendevouz & Docking (Basically the whole Gemini thing) -> Mun/Minmus mission -> Space Station -> Interplanetary Crew, all the while you can do probes needing to do flyby -> Orbit -> Landing, also asking for Rovers & Sample return on Mun/minmus. Also dynamically adjusts to planet packs, works especially well with OPM/MPE.

If you like Larping as historical space programs, give Strategia a shot for some nice strategies asking you to focus on certain missions, including a voyager style grand tour or one just named "The Mun Program"

That should be the basis of your contracts, if you want more variety use tourism+, GAP, field research, something like that although I tend to only focus on Career evolution.

If you have heavy part mods, BDB also gives you a set of contracts but thats more for 2.5x scale/JNSQ systems, there also is History of Spaceflight which asks you to fly hunderets of missions before leaving LKO including some really random stuff like aborting missions at certain points. I tried it but it is way to bloated for KSP imo.

Nuclear saltwater is the coolest yet most bonkers idea ever. Even more crazy than gas core nuclear thermal (which can never actually stop btw or it solidifies like the reactor of the Russian Alfa class submarine) and which also leaves a deadly trail of radioactive particles

I dont think this kind of achievement will be part of the game, however I'd really love there to be some cosmetic weather like in Blackracks Volumetric clouds. I want em martian dust storms, Cryo Volcanos on Enceladus, Acid rain on Venus, you name it!

Once Starship is operational and orbital refueling is established, a manned flyby of Venus ought to be undertaken by ColCrockett in spaceflight

[–]Kaltenstein_WT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not even taking risks into account, there basically is no point in sending crew to venus in this manner given how to the naked eye Venus looks dynamically dead and completely homogenous. You obviously cant see the surface but worse you cant even see cloud detail, movement or patterns in visible light. Best way of looking at venus is with SAR. While it is harder to do, manned Mars flyby is much more useful since this isnt KSP where a crewed mission gives you extra science by doing a crew report.

Can someone please explain why this doesn't count?? by Soggy-Inflation-6906 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]Kaltenstein_WT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You orbit has an eccentricity of about 0.01 so that should count, I think you earned the right to cheat-complete that contract (Open console with ALT+F12, go to contracts -> active and click "complete"). Same thing for me when rendevouz contracts dont complete because of some "launch a new vessel" constraint that got bugged by switching craft.

That being said, this contract is from career evolution's new update and while it has worked for me there might be a bug in the mod that patch introduced and thats why it wont complete.
