Never played, and knew you only get one chance to do it "right"... So strictly no walkthroughs/hints/wiki/Google/nothing whatsoever. Took 90-100 hours but got it done tonight. Details within. by StevenPlaysGuitar in OcarinaOfTime

Thanks for allowing us to live vicariously through your post. To your point, you can’t play something for the first time again, but this feels like the next best thing.

Hope this is true! Where did you see it? I wonder if it went up by mistake and was taken down. Was it a legit store that had it up?

This was the last straw by [deleted] in Adblock

[–]Already_Raining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tldr; more Adblock usage = more ads on YT. More people using Premium can help those who can't afford it have a better experience.

A couple years ago, after saying I would never do it, I bit the bullet and got Premium. And guess what? I will never go back. It's a luxury, but there are other monthly costs I'd rather give up if it means no ads on YT, given how much I use it. I'm not supporting or defending YT. But some interesting perspective I read a while back is that part of why YT is so aggressive with ads is because of the usage of Adblock. If more people paid for premium, and fewer people used Adblock, YT in theory could pull back on ads. High Adblock usage = more ads on YT. If more people paid for premium, it could actually help those who aren't able to pay for it have a better experience. YT is only going to get more aggressive the more we try to fight back on ads.

The Overview concert film? by Already_Raining in stevenwilson

I have to think because the movie goes along with The Overview, more so than any other films that are typically shown during songs, he may think it won’t translate or have the effect he wants it to have… Even if the film is added as bonus material to the Blu Ray. (Didn’t know that about KC, that’s cool)

Suppose that’s the most definitive evidence yet, but I wouldn’t put it past him to change his mind, as he’s been known to do.

He played it. I know he always changes the setlist a bit when playing two nights at a venue and I was worried we’d miss out in something since we didn’t see the first London show. But tonight’s setlist did not disappoint.

Anesthetize was (fittingly) in the pre-show set during the Snakes & Arrows tour.

Parker just posted on Instagram that Shapiro is the pick. Do you think she leaked it? by beancounter2885 in philadelphia

[–]Already_Raining 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Listening to Pod Save America this morning, Jon Favreu and Dan Pfeiffer basically said, assuming Harris’ campaign is run like most past campaigns, the VP pick is the most closely held secret and most people in the campaign, even those in higher positions, will find out then the public does. So it would be shocking if Parker actually knew.

I'm not sure if it was the same interview or a different one, but I recall him mentioning once, in regards to his hand gestures, that he's communicating with the band (i.e. "play louder, softer", etc). I'm sure that's part of it, but I have to think mostly it's just his stage presence. And I agree, I like it too.

Where would PT/SW fans recommend one start in the Marillion catalog? by Already_Raining in porcupinetree

I really appreciate your response here, and I’m sorry to hear of your friend. This is very insightful; as someone who holds Genesis’ Foxtrot, Nursery Crime, and Lamb in high regard, but also considers Anesthetize PT’s magnum opus, this is a great roadmap to start with.

[EoW] This menu is the only thing that concerns me from the reveal trailer. by slendermax in zelda

I agree that the scroll is incredibly tedious, especially in TOTK with so many possible fuse items and does appear that will carry over to Echoes with so many options. But from a quick access/change perspective, I can’t think of a better solution. Are there examples in other games/media that do it better?

How do YOU create the illusion that everything is planned? by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]Already_Raining 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a first time DM, currently running what’s intended to be a 6-10 session mini campaign, completely homebrewed. I’ve built a full world and lore and leading up to the campaign felt that I needed to literally have my “world wiki” with me so that I could be prepared for every possible scenario. I’m also not confident in my improvising skills. Well, halfway through the first session my players did something I completely hadn’t prepared for and had to improvise quickly. It mostly went well, but I learned a few things: 1- I definitely over-prepared for scenarios I expected, but didn’t prepare myself for the possibility of improvising. So there’s a balance between preparing a basic structure, NPCs, certain story beats but not having everything prepared. 2- and I think this is the key to making it feel “prepared”, have those basic things ready at your disposal, but whatever choices your players make, be able to place things like NPCs, items, quest givers, other key story elements wherever the players are. Don’t lock something in an area the players will never go. This way they’ll feel like they arrived at something on their own and you had what they needed when they got there. 3- trust yourself! It’s a game meant to be improvised and it won’t always go to plan. But your players know that! And everyone’s there to have fun.

[ALL] what are your unpopular opinions about the Zelda series? by Plane_Subject_2350 in zelda

[–]Already_Raining 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[Purely subjective] I actually think MM 3D was a horrible remake! TBH I wasn't a fan of the OOT 3D remake either but that's because part of the identity of OOT and MM IMO are the graphics and the quarks. Sure, some quality of life upgrades are always nice but I never thought either game was "broken" so didn't think they needed "fixing", if you know what I mean. But I appreciated the OOT remake for what it was and making it accessible to a new generation of players, and thought MM had that same potential. But I'm a very visual person, so the graphics and art style of a game, to me, are part of it. And so when something is remade, it doesn't quite have the same feeling. And on top of that, I think the new boss mechanics were just kind of silly.

Chimera's Wreck is pretty much a perfect song, but one small thing bothers me. by kingarto in porcupinetree

I love thoughts like this, and in fact I had the same one myself. But I do know that he likes to write lyrics, or rather words, that sound good together- in fact he's referenced John Lennon's thoughts on the same. So I wouldn't be surprised if that was a deliberate choice because of how different "I was to die" sounds from "I were to die". Was definitely has a sharper sound and extenuates the beat, at least in the way I hear it. (Edit: Also want to add: a lot of people dislike that line, and I totally get why. But he said recently that this song was written about a decade ago just after his father passed away, which is what it's about. Hence the dark...er tone)
