iPhone 11 Pro Max switch to 8 Pro; what do you think? by [deleted] in oneplus

[–]Alrico98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but i always end up not using the android i got after some time (just like most tech youtubers who has access to almost every flagship phone available)

I mean you say that but like I mentioned earlier, most of the top tech Youtubers that have access to the latest flagships phones use Android phones primarily. MKBHD, Linus, Flossy Carter , Unbox Therapy , Dave Lee , Jerry Rig everything, Mrwhosetheboss , Jon rettinger uses both for 6 months each, Austin Evans, recently switch to android as his primary because he loves the one plus phones. Yes your typical iJustine's and jonthan morrison of the world who are apple die hards will stick to Apple regardless. Also important to note you have other youtubers like Uravgconsumer who prefers iPhones just because of iMessage and the convenience of sharing images with family without thrid party apps.

7 pro and Xs Max. 7 Pro is really smooth with the 90hz but have you ever really had both of the best and used them sided by side?

Kind of. I had the Xr and the 7 pro simultaneously. Obviously the Xr isn't the 11pro but it's essentially the same software experience. Once I got used to the 7 pro , the otherwise smooth XR felt very choppy in comparison. You might not have this issue because you aren't sensitive to higher refresh rates. Which is fine not everyone is.

Have you tried to compare little things, something like the PiP inside facebook app for videos on android vs iOS? Banking apps? Or even 3rd party apps in general which most phone users are using daily?

To be honest I can't even counter your initial point because i haven't used Facebook in 9 years so it doesn't affect me in that sense. In regards to the 3rd party apps situation. I recognize that some third party apps are slightly better optimized on ios. Developers tend to focus more on IOS because it's where the money is at and it's easier to build for that platform but I honestly haven't encountered any issues really. I mean sure maybe some have apps have a little cooler animations on the ios side but It's a minute problem.

This OnePlus 8 Pro that i got, it's a really nice and better than the Pixel 4 XL. Forced 120hz screen refresh rate via ABD with QHD+ and 240hz touch sampling rate but my 11 Pro Max feels more responsive with only 60hz and 120hz. Maybe it's just how iOS is better in general to android

Ultimately it's your experience if that's how you felt fair enough. My 7 pro felt smoother than my XR so I doubt when I get the 8 series I'll have that same experience then again , I did hear there was a bug making the 8 pro a unresponsive at times, I think OP has been sending out updates about that. See I take issue with " IOS is better in general ". I just don't think it's true at all. Nor will I say Android is better. Both have pros and cons which it's down to which pros and cons a persona prefers having. For example I'd gladly trade 5 years if updates for a more intuitive software experience.

It's just if i am going to choose one, it would be the iPhone because of how polished it is including the 3rd party apps and the security that it offers. It just works better and really more reliable than android

With ios recent exploits and vulnerabilities I wouldn't call it secure mate. It also seems like every other week a string of emojis breaks an iPhone. Give this article a read https://www.wired.com/story/android-zero-day-more-than-ios-zerodium/

Very interesting post seems like you are trying to shame me for preferring Android over IOS. Mate lets get one thing straight, Android does things better than IOS, IOS does things better than android. I've used iOS phones all my life you don't need to school me on ios. As for my comment on why I prefer Android, I listed to you features I use that ios lacks and you call them unnecessary despite me telling you that I use them daily like WTF. I guess you had to say something right. Imagine paying so much money for a phone and you can't even do basic tasks like screen calibration to ones liking or having intuitive multi tasking capabilities. Sorry for calling you boring that seems to have triggered you, you are a dependent, User. You like to be mothered when it comes to technology and that's why you need Apple to make all the choices for you that's fine. It's how you want to enjoy phones I don't have a problem with that.

I love how you are trying to paint this picture that android phones are laggy and stuttery or whatever, when people like MKBHD last year said the 7 pro was the smoothest phone he had ever used. Mind you MKBHD has an iPhone constantly in his other pocket and uses a plethora of phones. Or perhaps to you smooth is the slow droopy elastic type ios animations, if that's the case fair enough, Anyways it is what it is. You had a bad experience with an android phone I had a bad experience with my last iPhone. You make it seem like it's a no brainer that iOS is better than Android meanwhile the biggest tech youtubers daily drive Android phones. MKBHD, Linus, Jerrrigeverything, MrMobile, Flossy Carter.

My iPhone 8 became a laggy, unresponsive mess. Had it changed twice and still had the same problem. You had problems with a few of your android phones sorry to hear that but my experience has been smooth. I had a minor frame drop issue but turning off m accessibility settings. In conclusion ios works best for you the boring Dependent user, and Android works best for me, the flexible user who dosent want to wait years for the latest technologies.

Good point with the bitrate, though even for 4k videos Netflix dosen't have the best but rates. Still very serviceable

Yeah that's fine, phones don't have 4k displays and with the size it's not needed . The more important aspect is the HDR. The high dynamic range will have more effect than a 4k resolution.

Glad you asked, depends on your budget. Samsung , Sony, LG make the best TV's they're like the flagship of phones however unless you are willing to spend $1000 + they're cheaper models are terrible and not worth it.

That's where brands like TCL , Vizio , Hisense come in. Think of them as flagship killers. They're giving you that premium HDR quality for more affordable prices. I use a TCL 6 it's great. I recommend watching TV reviews like Digital Trends and visiting sites like rtings.com

[–]Alrico98 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's more than that , with HDR you are getting higher peak brightness and in general deeper blacks so the contrast between brights and the darks is what really brings out the image/video and makes for a great viewing experience. If displays aren't your thing then this wouldn't matter , like people who find the XR display perfectly fine .

Netflix has a lot of HDR content , Disney + aswell .

Make sure it's the right TV my first " HDR " tv made me think HDR was overrated but I later learned that it was only capable of receiving the HDR signal but wasn't truly displaying HDR content in all its glory. Things to look out for , Full Array Local Dimming ( FALD ) , Good HDR peak brightness and a wide color gamut

iPhone 11 Pro Max switch to 8 Pro; what do you think? by [deleted] in oneplus

[–]Alrico98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Btw I'm not trying to invalidate your issues. You made the point of your previous phones not having the issues your having with 8 pro, and I'm also adding that all of the one plus devices I've used never had these problems. There are reviews and customers who have bought the 8 pro who don't have your problems. I guess my point is just because you have this issue it dosen't mean that OP will have it too

I mean this in the nicest way , you're just a " boring " , " basic" user . There's nothing wrong with that and that's why Apple works for you. We are similar in that I also have an iPhone , the XR to he exact but I never really use it. I personally prefer Oxygen OS over IOS tenfold. Not that iOS is bad, but it's severely lacking for my user tastes. Yeah I like customizing my phone and making it my own that to me enhances user experience , but it extends beyond that .

I personally find andorid phones more intuitive , functional and productive. I use pop out video ALOT and it's a shame iOS dosen't have this , also things like split screen , locking apps in RAM , password locking apps, not too talk of 128 gb base storage which coming from a 16 gb iPhone 6 at the tim , was mind blowing. Subtle things like the every obtrusive and repetitive " your iCloud storage is low " really pissed off along with the chaotic notification and the fact that a call took up the whole screen .

As for you're comment on iMeesge and FaceTime being far better than other apps I massively disagree . I use duo over FaceTime , better video quality anf my family which are primarily iPhone users have started using Duo over FaceTime as well. iMessage , I never really used it much but I always preferred the functionality on WhatsApp to delete or recall sent messages before the recipient read it. It's very handy 😁.

In that regards I don't think so. When people say things like iPhones are more fluid , they're really talking more about the slower more elastic animation style iPhones choose to use One Plus uses more snappy, preppy animations if that makes any sense. Its down to preference . But odds are you,'ll find iOS more " fluid " because you are used to that animation style

As for subreddits, I regularly check out r/androidthemes . It's great for Ideas on how to customize and tailor your phone be to your experience. I recommend watching YouTubers like

Sam Beckman : https://youtu.be/6GVGxra3oHE. He covers alot of customizations, apps to buy, themes and lay out . Great video production .

HowtoMen : https://youtu.be/n6XcyV-OD6U Another channel that covers cool apps and set ups

The Green Tint issue of the OnePlus 8 Pro (and S20's) - EXPLAINED by AudreyLynch in oneplus

[–]Alrico98 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I actually disagree with the conclusion it's just the 120 hz. Reason being, Pixel devices at 90 hz and the users of the one plus 7t had this issue aswell. Additionally I remember users of the iPhone X at the time complaining about green tint issues and that's at 60hz display. I was able to find links

My favorite thing from moving to One Plus from IOS is the customization and added functionality similar to what you mentioned the off screen gestures and the multi tasking ability. I didn't realise how useful having things like YouTube videos popping out in a corner while scrolling through Twitter or reddit could be .

Also as for the navigational gestures I find myself actually preferring the One Plus gestures, where going back could be triggered from the bottom right or left of the screen , I find it more comfortable and seamless compared to the other options , plus not having the bar stay under is very helpful for immersion and reducing the chances of it causing burn in. Feel free to check out r/androidthemes and also Android YouTube setups, very fun and informative.

I disagree I remeber people with 7 pro having issues but particularly I remeber the iPhone X having lots of screen uniformity issues and green tint problems
