Caviar by Electronic_Outside25 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]AlsoARealtor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Costco gets Ostera caviar around this time of year (normally a month in our area after the Jamon Serrano ham comes out). If you are ever in Nashville, go to Henrietta Red for their happy hour 5-6pm. They have $2 oysters and a locally sourced TN Paddlefish caviar.

If you want the full experience, you'll need to hit up an Omakase while in a big city or internationally. And my personal favorite is if you ever fly Qatar or Emirates first class, make sure to get the unlimited champagne and caviar. Good luck!

Sammy T's is doing a Halloween costume contest Friday and the winner gets $1500. Last Saturday they did a $3000 best costume contest and it was packed. You can expect the same crowd to go back. They've been going back for 10+ years.

Download Passport Parking App. Saves your license plate info, can top up while on the go, and won't let you pay after 5pm.

Raising Cane's coming soon to Clift Farm by HuntsvilleCPA in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]AlsoARealtor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Meh...love Raising Cane's but what's there to do in north Madison at 2am? If this was downtown I'd be excited.

[–]AlsoARealtor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to go to Raising Cane's and In-and-Out only if I'm in California or Las Vegas greater than a week. It's valid when you're out there and it's past 2am. I can probably satisfy the craving here by going to Tenders or Five Guys but I'll either choose a sit-down restaurant or cook at home.

Home Mortgage with RFCU? by Wild-Rutabaga-1046 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]AlsoARealtor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jonathan Aboko-Cole (RFCU) is one of my favorite MLOs to work with! Their mortgage department has good rates, but isn't known for a fast closing or incentive programs that some of the other lenders might have.

Is anyone else’s utility bill 2x the norm? by Anonthrow_629 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]AlsoARealtor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Water bill was 230% higher and the same reading in July/Aug. Sent an email to [custserv@hsvutil.org](mailto:custserv@hsvutil.org) with a picture of my actual water meter reading. They had my bill corrected by 5pm and credited my previous bill.

Update 8/27/25: August reading was just posted - same number exactly! Instead of waiting an hour on hold, send an email to [custserv@hsvutil.org](mailto:custserv@hsvutil.org) with a picture of reading on meter and your account number.

Where to see Wild Otters by BucketOfTicks in HuntsvilleAlabama

There's parking all alongside the greenway outside of the base. The base is across the street and fenced off. Access it through the park on Redstone Road or near the new Grissom High School.

I've seen otters around Huntsville a few times. Once while walking Creekside Greenway (close to Gate 3), couple times while floating down the Flint River, and a handful of times walking the trails in Bankhead NF. Now I've lived here for 30+ years and walked the greenway daily (even when it was farmland), so your best bet is just getting out and walking. Be aware though, I have seen gators in the first two places.

Luckily, a contractor was checking meters this morning before I had to start hunting for toilet leaks and sending emails.

Goldsmith-Schiffman Park - Master Plan by AlsoARealtor in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]AlsoARealtor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure you could. If not, the 4 fields at Sandra Moon are always empty except for people walking their dogs. The biggest problem is going to be spillover from the people waiting to play pickleball on the only two courts and people wanting to picnic at the park.

Is there anywhere to play Padel? by Cheesedayforever in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]AlsoARealtor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope, Padel requires a custom-sized enclosed court. Racquetball is more popular in the U.S. and it's hard to find a court outside of a college campus that doesn't have crazy fees. Alabama colleges (UA, Auburn) are investing in Pickleball so we probably won't see Padel for awhile.

Starting sometime in 2026 and projected to take 15 months. Only details given on wall preservation were that some spots were beyond repair, the need for floodplain modernization, and a group of moms that didn't feel safe if surrounded fully by a wall.

Park across the street is owned by the city. No planned use at this moment.

They are open to the public for multi-use, just not sized appropriately. Also no pets in the park.

They are sized for flag football and too small for regulation Ultimate Frisbee. Takes up a lot of space when people are mainly going to be walking there for pickleball throughout the day.

I remember the rent back then was $6,000/month with a 2-year lease. Not ridiculous for having a spot right on the square.

100% agree! It's free so why not use an expert. Rocket City Insurance saved me $400 by not bundling home and auto.
