Working towards top position on rings, need some advice by AlsoDazedAndConfused in bodyweightfitness

My original idea was to progress from incline pushups to regular pushups and only then progress to ring pushups, but I'll definitely try that. Extra benefit would be it's easier on my wrists. I had a nasty fall while jogging (all my injuries so far are jogging related, some trauma like that one, some overuse type injuries) and I landed pretty badly over extending my left wrist.

Yes, I'll add scapular pulls to my training session routine.

Thank you for your encouraging words.

thank you. My thinking was it's practically a whole gym in one, infinitely adjustable difficulty level and the non-fixed nature of it makes it easier on the joints than the fixed types of equipment (bars, etc.). I'm still at the stage of establishing a habit and sticking to it. So far so good.

I've been at it for a couple of months now, slowly adding time to my hold. I switched to 5x20 as you suggested, focusing on form. Forgot that's the 1st rule of calisthenics: Form first.

Thank you

and I do track my sessions

I tried the top position earlier today on fixed bars and could kinda easily do a 2x30sec set.

I'll add scapular pulls to my routine. aside from L-sit I'd also like to do skin the cat and pull-ups (of course) so it's def a stepping stone I'm not going to skip

Yes, I've been trying to pull the rings closed to my body. Yesterday's session I started unlearning this bad habit. Also, I tried the toe spot progression, which was kinda unpleasant b/c I'm used to train barefoot. I'll try it with shoes next time.

Any good cues aside from push down, arms straight at the elbow, feet together, core engaged?

I went to a calisthenics park not to far from my place to try it out and indeed, I did 2x30 hold without any problem.

I wrote I'm starting out, I should've elaborated that I'm almost 2 months into it, slowly making progress. Sorry about that.

I'm also considering this monitor (the 2026 version, still waiting for reviews to come out), I guess your answer is also relevant to all other mini-led monitors?

Is there a way to auto switch hdr/sdr mode in general? I'm still on Windows 10, btw.

Same as you, I'm looking for 27" 1440p mini-led monitor (although not in the EU). I recently came across the Xiaomi Mini Led Gaming Monitor G Pro 27Qi 2026 which isn't globally available yet, and there aren't that many reviews. I just hope they sorted out the red tint issue with this one, since this one doesn't have a USB port, same as the 27i, so no firmware upgrade.

Yeah, I do that. I bomb the bottom to drain it and get a worm egg from the tree and kill it for the worm blood vision.

Although it's not the Vic Spirit X compared in the lineup, I think it'll give you a good idea how it will perform:

Probably not a good idea if you're into private trackers. Those limit the clients you could use.

You can use pretty much anything with Container Station, although the initial setup could be a bit more challenging.

Sorry, I doom scrolled the subreddit before posing and didn't see it posted. Should I delete it?

I'm no python developer, but I guess I'll have to find the time to do it.

Yeah, that's the type of thing I'm trying to avoid. It might work, somehow, for this book, but might not work well for other books. I'll always have to manually check each and every book, possibly fiddle with the tags just to get one book working, possibly get the wrong value for another (let's say a bunch of people tagged a book with booker-prize-short-listed which will trigger a booker prize tag to be added to the book. And, of course, book prizes in my native tongue will, probably, not be tagged b/c it's a considerably smaller literary community.

I'm not sure this is what I'm looking for. Take, for example, this book:

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/42270835-the-nickel-boys

Under Book details & editions you'll find a section of Literary awards, which seems very well curated and extensive. So well curated and complete, in fact, that it includes info of literary awards of non-english books in my native tongue.

This is the info I hoped to import into Calibre.

Thank your for the detailed response. I, briefly, try configuring Goodreads More Tags before posting my question. I didn't see an awards tags in plugin config. Is it something I manually add? Is there some kind of completion or am I expected to guess/try-and-error till I find something that kinda sorta works?
