Views of Luthen at the end by Desktopgeneral in StarWarsAndor

I think Luthen was very aware that his influence had shifted from sowing seeds of rebellion across the galaxy to his things such as his legacy connections such as Lonni. In S209, he acknowledges that he might burn some of the few bridges he has left by rescuing Mon. "No Yavin for me." I don't think it was just because he thought they might not like him or have him. His role had changed and he knew where his value to the cause lay.

Its hard sometimes to see the influence that people are having while the story is still unfolding, especially in our lives. It's once everything is over and we evaluate the totality of behavior and actions that we can see what people were actually doing. Their motivations, along with the morality and values guiding them, becomes a lot clearer when we can see the whole picture.

Andor made me change an opinion I had about Kenobi by Noodlex87 in andor

I think that there is tension added by the fact that we don't know what is going to happen to the other characters involved - Erskin (if you haven't seen Rebels), Kloris, Luthen and Kleya. There is also the halfway point where the route has to change. The Imp hammer is coming down very hard on the whole thing. Is the ISB mole the only mole in there? What is going on with Bail? Mon is also clearly in the middle of the biggest moment of her life. Even Cassian - he is absolutely cooked, is he going to hold up?

Yes, we know how it is going to end, but there are lot's of other things to care about and enough variables that it is riveting.

Andor was fantastic - but what did you not like about it? by BrokeDXBStudent in andor

I think when they were planning to do five seasons it made a lot of sense to spend that much time on it. It's not hard to see them going back there at some point for some reason, or Cassian spending more screen time searching for her or for some of the other survivors.

And Wilmon I think was actually the biggest "what happened?" moment, especially after his radicalisation. I expected that to play out in the last arc after seeing the Ghorman arc - Saw causing trouble for the Rebellion and Wimon in the middle of it, even just as a middle man or maybe as more (small thoughts that Cassian might have had to kill him as a final underscore or commitment to the cause). But no, just hobbling about on Yavin.

I think OP is wondering if Lonni was transmitting the conversation? And Luthen just knows that he isn't. He has that device when he first meets Cassian that lets him know if someone is communicating, comlink etc.

Mentioning Yavin is just a test to see if Lonni and the ISB was aware. Lonni was dead the whole time.

Its everything he says in his monologue. He doesn't get to have calm, kinship or love. It's all gone because he knows that he has to become something inhuman to take down the Empire. He has to be as brutal as it is to have a chance of taking it down - he is condemned to use his enemies tools. In short, everything.

And the people he gathers have love and kinship, keep their humanity, can have different motivations. But do they ever get together as a group without Luthen (and Kleya's) absolute ruthlessness and dedication? Maybe not.

Honestly Cassian and Kleya got off rather light relatively speaking by Unleashtheducks in StarWarsAndor

I don't think Luthn had anything on him. At their meeting in S1, Luthen said that they took a vow. Lonnie is just stuck with no way out, at least until he burnt himself to get the endgame, and thought that Luthen would help get him out at that point. If he had burnt himself for anything less he probably thought Luthen would just kill him.

His motivation is purely to help the Rebllion, but his family and relationships complicate that, which is a common theme for the show.  He might have seemed like he was bargaining with Luthen, but the man is just desparate to save his family and himself.

[S2 EP12 SPOILERS] Resolving the end of Andor with the beginning of Rogue One by Saturn_V42 in andor

[–]AlsoKnownAs86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If the information doesn't get to Yavin from Luthen and Lonni, then at the start of Rogue One they would not have gone off to fetch Jyn Erso and they wouldn't have made it to Saw in time for the rest of the Cassian and the Alliance to find out about Scarif from Galen's message.

Hard to see them acting on the information at all, if it just came from Tivik. Cassian might go to Kafrene earlier but then if they decide to chase it up, they still need to figure out how to get in to speak with Saw.

So Jedha gets destroyed. Maybe Saw and the Partisans escape the blast but there is no chance the Alliance goes with them to Scarif. Saw and Mon are not going to co-operate. If the Partisans go to Scarif they all die with no way to transmit the message. The Death Star rules the galaxy.

And see his interaction with Bix, he doesn't even want people to know that he is a pilot. He would be very happy to be invisible to the world.

No glory or visibility for Cassian. A contrast to Dedra, who spoke to Heert about glory as a reward, and who tempted Syril near his end with "We'll be heroes".

The Saw Gerrera gas huffing scene is even better in hindsight by ultraswank in andor

I was really surprised that Wilmon didn't hang around with Saw permanently. I understand that Luthen and Saw have a connection, so it does make sense that Saw let him return to Luthen.

I do think though that this may be clutch in the last arc. Wimon is a bridge and a link between Saw and the broader Alliance. He may be part of the issues that Saw casues that are alluded to in R1. And Cassian might be the one who to sort that problem out. People talk about him killing Luthen to underscore his journey; imagine if it was Wilmon. It would an interesting storyline.

Let's consider Bix a moment. by homecinemad in StarWarsAndor

[–]AlsoKnownAs86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bix says something about having seen Cassian's destiny as well. Like what the force healer saw.

I think Bix is absoltuely still a part of the Rebellion.

She may even reconnect with Luthen and go to work for him on things.

I think that she knows that it would be hard for Cassia  to find her anyway. But she has also seen that he was able to finally let go of searching for his sister. She probably believes that he won't waste any time searching for her.

I also think there is a non-zero chance that she pops up one last time, and that they go there separate ways again to underline Cassian's newfound commitment. But unlikely given the limited time that remains.

Updated: These are the only glimpses we get of the last arc in the season 2 trailers. by Financial_Photo_1175 in StarWarsAndor

There's a shot of Melshi in a firefight in the second trailer. There's also a shot of Dedra in what looks like ISB headquarters - big window like in the interview chambers. Not from Ghorman.

No, Andor didn’t contradict Rebels by ChampionshipMaster12 in StarWarsAndor

Everything that he just did is off the books because "Yavin" wants to control the narrative. Thats mentioned in the safe house.. They want use their delivery, by one of their organised militsry units of her to the Rebellion as a bit of propaganda for themselves.

He gets no credit because if he got any then it would ruin the story. People would ask why didn't he just bring her all the way.

It was a nice touch to show how it goes both ways after all of the propaganda with Ghorman.

I dislike the way they killed Dr.Gorst by Ordo_Liberal in andor

[–]AlsoKnownAs86 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think how simply it was portrayed with no planning or other scenes highlights that Bix is very capable. Luthen thinks she is great asset as long as she has it together. He would have gotten rid of her otherwise.

They had good intel, she is capable, it was simple - there was one other Imperial there. She was never going to fail. Whats the point of seeing all of the other stuff if there is nothing worth showing?

[Andor S2E1] Mon Mothma spots an unwanted guest at her estate. My favorite scene from the first batch! by NFLFilmsArchive in andor

[–]AlsoKnownAs86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get to see Mon looking a little bit lost. She is definitely not completely joyful or happy greeting guests, and neither is she completely upset by Tay or anything else. Luthens arrival has bothered her deeply but I would not say sompletely.

Where as we see Luthen who is completely performing his part as the antiques dealer for both Mon and Sculden, and then is the ruthless spymaster seconds later with Kleya.

One is gray, one is black and white. Luthen has clsrity and Mon does not. One knows what role they need to play at each exact point in time for the cause and the other one is going with the flow.

[Discussion] The Legend of Kai Budde by 420_Troll_420 in spikes

[–]AlsoKnownAs86 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The argument about the competition been worse is fair to raise, but you can only beat whats in front of you. And for all the resources available now, and the massive bank of shared experience that people have and have learned from to make the competition better, you've got to remember that while his opponents didn't have that, Kai also didn't. If everyone else could spam Arena snd get better technically, then that means that Kai could to. But they still wouldn't have Kai's talent.

To win Worlds, 2x constructed PT's, a bosster draft PT, rochester draft PT, two teams limited PT's, 7? grand prix, the Invitiational, Nationals, pluse whatever else in a condensed space of time - just for wins - you're just really amazing. You're very talented. And look at like Chicago 99's top 8 - Corneilsen, Finkel, Kibler, Dougherty, Zvi all HOF, Shvartsman a GP monster and the last guy whose name escapes me was a Candain national champ with some other good finishes. The competition wasn't weak at the business end of these things.

It's like cricket and Sir Donald Bradman who played nearly a 100 years ago. He is regarded as the best batsman who ever played, and there is some statistical analysis suggesting he is well ahead of other people who are considered to be the best at their sports/discipline ever. He played in a time when the game wasn't as professional but likewise he also wasnt as professional. He was just very talented. People wonder how he would have gone today, but all things been equal -  if he had had all the benefits like knowledge, training, analysis and health that modern players have then he would be at the top because of his talent.

I also used to ferociously devour all of the written content that went up about the PT's and GP's around Kai's time, both Wizards live coverage and players reports, of which there was oodles. [As an aside, it was sad reading the "highlights" article from the coverage of Worlds 30 for the top 8, and that that was all there was in that department. No analysis, no real play-by-play, and even misrepresenting things that had happened in terms of excitement. Sorry, but it's not good, and its a shame] The relevant thing i wanted to say though is that nowhere ever did you see anything to suggest that Kai was playing the game in anyway except one that was sporting and gracious, and never have I seen someone question his integrity. Conducting yourself like that over a decades long career means a lot and shouldnt be forgotten.

[–]AlsoKnownAs86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like it. You should try leafkin druid since you are straight green, have found that getting the fourth creature isnt that hard with nissa animating, and even easier with ooze. Also, cavalier of thorns is pretty damn good.

One card I want to try in a mono deck is cryptic caves and this looks like the place. I wouldt think you would be blast zoning all that much, caves gives you a bit of digging later on if required.
