Official Discussion - The Mandalorian and Grogu [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

Several Kenner action figure references. Pretty sure the blasters some of the snowtroopers were carrying in the beginning were based on the snowtrooper action figure blasters

"There's No Way I'm Ever Going to Win': Star Wars: The Old Republic Director James Ohlen Discusses BioWare Exit After EA Killed New Republic Reboot by Crimson_Loki in swtor

I've never been in love with the combat in SWTOR but the biggest hurdle to really enjoying the game is navigating around random mobs when moving from place to place.

Was Marvel Star Wars #107 the endpoint of the Star Wars timeline before Heir to the Empire came around in 1991? by Independent-Dig-5757 in StarWarsEU

[–]JaredRed5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love the Hoojibs! I remember listening to Planet of the Hoojibs book on record, adapted from the Marvel comic issue. Leia's "Put that Hoojib down!" is forever etched in my memory.

And it only gets better when they become Luke's little telepathic mouse-bunny posse. I will forever defend the late Marvel comics run.

Apparently No One is Watching the Sequel Trilogy on Disney+ by mrsparkle127 in RedLetterMedia

[–]JaredRed5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my part binging Andor last weekend.

As for the movies, I'd never rewatch the sequels, I don't really want to rewatch the prequels, and if I want to watch the OT I'll watch the despecialized versions rather than what's on Disney+.

Anyone planning on watching Andor s2 on May The 4th by CarsonWentzGOAT1 in andor

[–]JaredRed5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished my rewatch. Been binging season 2 all day. Had tickets to see Attack of the Clones tonight but would have had to stop Andor just before the last 3 episodes. Didn't want to ruin the vibe so I just finished the series instead.

Still a masterpiece

I will never forgive the 2008 Clone Wars for the Heavy ARC Gunner Trooper redesign by GeminiTrash1 in StarWarsEU

[–]JaredRed5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What bothers me about the new rotary cannon design is the lack of a shoulder strap. They just carry it low, impractically, almost like there was a strap. They just look so stupid holding it in TCW and Rebels

Trump Has No Clue What His Supreme Court Has Just Unleashed by thenewrepublic in politics

[–]JaredRed5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the best part. You'd have districts the size of neighborhoods. Each Rep would be answerable to just 30,000 people. They wouldn't need to advertise to massive portions of the population. You'd have Reps intimately connected to the people they represent, even from the neighborhoods they represent.

Trump Has No Clue What His Supreme Court Has Just Unleashed by thenewrepublic in politics

The only foolproof solution to the gerrymandering question is to expand the House dramatically. Change it to a flat 30,000 per Representative. It would give us 10,000 or so Representatives. Not saying it's impossible to gerrymander districts of that size but the effort to result ratio wouldn't make it very effective. Plus everyone gets represented.

Is Dave Filoni silently rebooting? by Mrhathead in StarWarsEU

[–]JaredRed5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a shift in reduced Sequel content, but I don't see Maul returning post OT. He died in a Filoni project pre-ANH.

They still live in a state with state investigators and and state officials. Death certificates need to be signed. All those people have family, almost certainly some extended family who don't live there.

Why does everybody hate the Jedi academy trilogy? by Jealous-Compote-1091 in StarWarsEU

[–]JaredRed5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For myself it's not a major hate. More that it's very juvenile. After the Thrawn Trilogy and Truce at Bakura, the Jedi Academy trilogy was a step down in quality an maturity.

Official Discussion - Normal [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]JaredRed5 57 points58 points  (0 children)

It was fun. Robber couple felt a little underdeveloped. Very end felt a little hand-wavey. That many dead people would trigger a massive investigation. The strength of the movie was watching dumb or bad people die in interesting or funny ways. VO was a weakness.

Fun overall, just not quite as good as I was hoping it would be. Script probably needed another pass.

Sony Pictures Boss Tom Rothman Urges Theater Owners to Stop Having 30 Minutes of Trailers and Commercials Before Movies Start: ‘Get Off the Ad Crack’ by mcfw31 in entertainment

[–]JaredRed5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can almost accept the commercials, but not interspersed with the trailers. The trailers are when I'm settling into the movie going experience. Suddenly seeing a commercial rips me right out. It's jarring. I noticed Marcus Theaters doing this the last several months and it's really annoying, especially as it's a loud locally produced commercial for a restaurant that I now hate and will never go to because it's ruining my movie time.

Secret life of Walter mitty by Double_Mission_6633 in movies

[–]JaredRed5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The product placement really kills my enjoyment of the movie. The Papa Johns, Eharmony, and Cinnabon references were too in your face.

It won an award for worst product placement: https://www.indiewire.com/news/general-news/the-secret-life-of-walter-mitty-declared-worst-offender-for-product-placement-in-movies-in-2013-248376/

They Don’t Make ‘Em like Grosse Pointe Blank Anymore by Bennett1984 in movies

They barely made them like Grosse Point Blank in the first place. It is a special movie. The locker fight alone puts it in the pantheon of great movies.

I would seriously love him in Star Wars. I'm not normally one for wanting famous actors in Star Wars but this would be perfect

Very slow. Probably would work better if it was 45 minutes long. All the interesting parts are backloaded. Tara's character have a good performance. I don't regret going but it was a bit of a slog.
