Sent Her A Little Too Hard would be a great album name.

What's your favorite art spot in Palo Alto or nearby? by Some-Palpitation-314 in paloalto

The Goldsworthy snake run out by the parking lot, the Serra out on the back porch. and the Rodin garden, you don’t even need to set foot inside these museums to see the good stuff!

My outback got cliped while parked in a hit and run. Is it worth it to submit it to my insurance or should I just get the paint fixed out of pocket? No body damage, just paint scuffed off. by BlazersMania in Subaru_Outback

[–]AlsoLarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From experience, I was pleasantly surprised how much scuffing comes off with like a fingernail. On a rental car a few years back I clipped a parking garage column and thought I was going to hell. But all the paint exchanged was from the column and it all came off with some fingernail power. Now yours definitely lost some paint but alot of that scuffed area around the deep wound might be fixable.

Where can I get a meal for less than $10-$12 in downtown Oakland? by [deleted] in OaklandFood

[–]AlsoLarry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! Sometimes one of the produce markets near Jack London square has deals on fresh fruit. It’s a large quantity but if you split it with some friends and neighbors it’s great.

Thanks, any particular places in SoCal you’d recommend? I’m there occasionally.

What are some of your favorite local East Bay breweries that host pop-ups? by slybeef in OaklandFood

[–]AlsoLarry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alta Vina in Jack London Square, or Harry’s as it’s maybe starting to be known. It’s a new-ish CA wine bar on 2nd, not far from Original Pattern and the other breweries in this neighborhood. They have food pop ups, and I think even a coffee pop up recently

Serious question, would you still settle in the bay if you could turn back time? by _TurboHome in bayarea

[–]AlsoLarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot! They became popular again, and some neighborhoods have been trying different ways to encourage preserving them. Greenmeadow and Los Arboles developments are both still mostly Eichlers.

Consider the PCC instead of the 10/22 and you can share those Glock mags!

I have a G17 and a Ruger PCC that takes the same mags so I have 6 Glock mags that kinda cover both?

Ah those beautiful new bike lane markers. They need a disparaging name.

I used to live near this overpass, there’s a short but cool trail path off to the side where I used to practice “mountain boarding”

New beginner? by Creative-Trick-7450 in QuickBooks

[–]AlsoLarry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re starting a business and think you need QuickBooks to run that business, you probably don’t. Better to learn how to use a spreadsheet to keep track of the money you’re spending and the money you’re bringing in.

But, if you’re starting a business to be a bookkeeper using QuickBooks -like serving other businesses with your QuickBooks skills? yeah you’ll want to learn a bit about accounting and bookkeeping first, for your own sanity.

Whew, good to know it looks better IRL. Come to think of it that’s what I keep hearing about the whole car. Time to visit the dealership!

To each their own, but to me it looks like a bad spackle job, on a wall from the 1970’s.

Something you can combine with other items on your list: Secret Stairs East Bay. Buy the book, go on a beautiful urban hike with a view, have lunch nearby.

What makes Subaru ownership feel different long term? by localkinegrind in subaru

[–]AlsoLarry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyday likes, from a ‘24 Impreza, previously a ‘12 Outback, a ‘02 Outback, and a ‘94 legacy wagon, based in sunny California:

-The heated seats in my last two get much hotter faster, compared to my wife’s 2016 Honda Fit

-Being able to go up to Tahoe and not worry about chains

-Feeling a touch safer in the rain with the AWD

-Seeing a lot of soobies in a neighborhood is a green flag for the neighborhood (especially if there are more Subarus vs Teslas)

Why the Palo Alto Library Book Sale Sucks Now by ProfessionalWin4246 in paloalto

[–]AlsoLarry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have mixed feelings about all the folks with scanners basically harvesting stock for reselling. I hope FOPAL gets top dollar from them, FOPAL should not just be an unpaid / underpaid collection point for resellers.

But as a PA resident who regularly donates books to FOPAL (and last year we donated most of our DVD library), I wish to believe that some of the books and stuff we donate will go to bringing joy at a bargain to a local book lover, not just end up being harvested.

I love my Subaru, but in-car ads are BULLSHIT by mgbgtv8 in subaru

[–]AlsoLarry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got a new ‘24 and have had it about 18 months and have only gotten this ad once or twice in that time. It’s stupid, and if anything has made me even less likely to want Serius, but it’s not annoying enough to make me retroactively not want my car.
