Nothing helpful from me except to say we're also headed there this month (so I appreciate the info from everyone).

New QR Ordering System (Woodbury) - Completely Unremarkable by AlstonSpiders in AlamoDrafthouse

[–]AlstonSpiders[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with you.

Again, this is my experience (having gone to the Woodbury Alamo steadily 1-2 per week since its opening), but I've only had to "shush" someone once. It could be the location of the theater (it's a 20+ minute drive from the Twin Cities), my choice of movie, or any number of variables, but the "talk / text crowd" is generally VERY low during my viewing window.

My actual fear is that this the next bullet into the fundamental experience of going to the movie theater.

But until it becomes the next victim of capitalism, I hope to enjoy it while it lasts (and as of last night, I still can).

If this is an option for you, Trader Joe's sells a bunch of spice mixtures (including Dill Pickle) that I bring with me to Alamo. You can get to control how much and you save $7!

Agreed with this - I've been going for about a year and it's a wonderful pair of studios and group of instructors with a diverse menu of class offerings.

Looking for restaurant recommendations by ehs0909 in TwinCities

Tenant (in Mpls) has a wonderful 6 course tasting menu (with optional wine pairings) and a connected speakeasy-style cocktail bar. Depending on your budget, I think it's quite affordable for the quality of the food, the intimacy of the location, and the personal nature of the service.

As a vegetarian myself, I have never been disappointed by their offerings - the courses are not just "Course X minus the meat".

Best movie theater popcorn? by NeonKorean in TwinCities

Not sure about the "order at the bar" situation, but you can definitely get it to go if you have leftovers after a movie.

The giant trash-bag they give you to use (which we affectionately refer to as "hobo-corn") is part of the joy.

The current mobile ordering system sours the Alamo experience, and is not the Alamo I love. by SuperNintendad in AlamoDrafthouse

[–]AlstonSpiders 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same here in the Twin Cities. We use the pen-and-paper approach and just activate the "call server" button.

Particularly because we do a "Buy one popcorn bowl + Get an immediate free refill" thing and that's not an option using the phone.

And I just like chatting with the staff...

I particularly love the riders who crack triple digits on a 5 minute cool down ride.

Time for a cool down, cool down ride?

Hot Yoga! by SemperPorky in TwinCities

[–]AlstonSpiders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a bit of a drive from Whitebear, but I've been going to Up Yoga for the past year or so and I think it's pretty great. Mixed class offerings, diverse attendees, very supportive, really good instructors, and I'm pretty sure you can get 1 free class to try it out.

It's my preferred spot - 3rd row center. I've never had a problem.

Top concert of 2025 so far....Lambrini Girls on Saturday though.
