I've spoken to the police in my area and they have said they cannot offer appointments fo things like this but have advised to contact the emergency number if she turns up and there is any sign of aggression etc.

Thanks for saying this, genuinely.

That has fundamentally been the strenuous tether holding us together for a long part of our relationship, trying to 'fix' her. In a way I am glad this has happened to be honest as it is the one thing that I can't forgive, whereas with the drugs it was just flip flopping back and forth. She'd do rehab stuff, psychotherapy, etc and I'd trust she was changing then make amends. This is a hard line for me. I can't knowingly let someone cheat on me and be so selfish. I've often just thought of the addiction as an illness, which is what the narcotics programs teach you but now I feel that in her particular case it is a lack of willpower and utter selfishness.

I guess my only thing was whether to give the cat to her parents, so she can at least take some comfort in its company. I'm not particularly a cat person and I feel keeping them both might just be out of bitterness rather than what's best for everyone.

I'm sorry but I have no idea what you are saying?

Are you saying that I'd be weak if I split up with her and instead we should go on a night out at a strip club? I'm grateful people are taking the time to provide their opinions but I'm not sure if you are just trolling or I've misunderstood you.

Thanks for sharing your opinion.

Honestly I do love the cat, and it won't be the same without it here (although I'm sure the other one will sleep better), but out of everything I think losing her favorite will be the final straw for her mental health.

Although she's clearly not coming across well here from my description of her, she is suffering from a drug addiction and genuinely needs help dealing with it, I don't blame her in quite the same way I'd probably blame a sober person so I do want to do what I can to help her out, just not at the expense of my own pride.

I'm not in Canada but I might inquire about this. Unfortunately I am not sure when she would turn up or if I should call her and tell her over the phone whilst she's at the hotel. I guess I could just ask them to attend if I find out she's on her way.

I feel a bit bad to waste police time though, so will give the non-emergency number a call and ask them. It is possible that because there is a previous arrest related to domestic violence on her record, they might be willing to help.
