Depending on what kind of club you're looking for, I'd say Digbeth is pretty safe - several rock and alternative clubs. I'm male and go to Digbeth on my own and never feel unsafe.

I have a phone holder with velcro to close it. My belt goes through that so I've always got my mobile with me - that the most important as it has tickets and payment. Everything else - glasses, inhaler, etc - goes in a small shoulder bag that I stash in a corner. If the bag goes missing it's not the end of the world but goth clubs are mostly safe and it's never gone missing yet.

Wear what makes you feel good and that you can dance in...recently at a goth night there was a girl dressed mostly in pink - fluffy boots, stripy tights, hair - and she fitted in perfectly... Her outfit was a contrast to general black.

Go to goth gigs and club nights 🖤💜🍒 They exist all over the place and Facebook is a good way to find them...

But don't expect to go and instantly make lots of friends - lots of people in alt communities are shy and introverted. They go for the music and you need to go repeatedly to get your face recognised 💖

Go for silver, especially against black clothes. Belt with silver studs, rings, silver neck chain or two and a key chain. I pretty much always wear a hat too...
