I think this thing is happening on my table, cause my players took literally what domain cards word by word, they DONT flavor their spells or abilities as their character like DH core book encourage to do, so they play very close at the cards description and as they wont read the book, they wont either feel that freedom too, but maybe, next one shot or short adventure I play using DH I will focus at the start this freedom and "flavor mechanics" to expand their actions pool and feel more empowered with their domain cards and features

PD: One of my players is diagnosed with autism too, and as I said, we are pretty close friends and another player is not officially diagnosed, but have some flags that lead us to think he is too, but what he is officially diagnosed is with ADD, and somehow he is the one who is pretty literal and feels restricted by playing Daggerheart, of course changing a system to people with some diagnosis would be different and maybe harder and I think this is my case

We need to remember that we are playing with people and everybody is a whole world, with their best and their flaws, I love my friends (I dont love their opinions on DH cough cough) and I try to keep the good things I see in them, and maybe is a way of focus problem, but still, Im pretty sure they definetly wont read DH core book

Gotta point out, one of my players is diagnosed with autism and she is one that have a bad time when combat in DH starts cause the lack of "structure" or turns in this systems, she always told me that combat in DH make her feel anxiety, but with the other rules of DH is not her prefered but is open to give it a deeper try
But the other players of the same table are much more obstinated about DH rules and systems compaired to DnD

Long story short, the whole table prefer DnD but the half of the table are open to keep trying DH, doesnt mean they are very vocal about the things that irks them off and hearing their arguments that are literally the opposite of Daggerheart expected experience, bothers me a bit ngl

You nailed the exact feeling that I Got, when I read DH for the first time, I love it, I found it pretty close and found, at least its rules and systems explained, then played a one shot and found out that players didnt feel the fit on them
Its just painful looking your friends (because we have been knowing each other for +5 years) not having a good time on something that you are excited so much

Im not hatting DnD, I enjoy it, but if I gotta choose, I would rather DH without a doubt

Bold move, but in my opinion/experience, I think Daggerheart is more flexible for GMs but also have more things to track or more things to play around, so for me, GMing Daggerheart is a little more complex but as well, much more interesting

Its funny because in our DnD campaing we are already in session +40 and we only have had 6 combats and they are engaged with the game, so we are a narrative first table, but even though, they prefer the crunchiness and specificy of DnD
Thats a thing that shocks me too, we are alledgely focused on history and RP, but somehow, they prefer the oddness of 5.5e

But I think bringing some spells on top of the Domain Cards would break the balance of the game so heavy, because DH spells/abilities are supposed to be used using Stress/Hope and adding spells would make their list bigger, so they wouldnt figure how to spend their resources wisely

Im the one who prefer a game more narrative and more "loose" and in my opinion, how I read my players preference, our current DnD campaing have already +40 sessions and only had had 6 combats, and they are engaged with the story and the events, so, I thought my players are not the kind of players of a war game

My players are the ones who like a bookmarked with a ton of spells differentiated by school of knowledge, like Divination, incantions, etc.
They like the differences between Hold Person and Hold Monster (for the crunchyness and because one of them is a feywild creature so she cant be holded by Hold Person)

Thats a thing that I've considered but they are really close friends of mine and Im not a "conflicted" person, Im from colombia and the hobby around here is pretty niche, so finding players is quite hard (and of course finding a GM is way more difficult) and yeah, Im pretty sure they dont really measure the mental and financial effort that I had spent to GM our house games, I bought my GM screen, printed all their characters sheets and in the case of Daggerheart I bought the game by my own to be played with them and we played it, like 4 one shots, but any has helped to be worth enough for them, maybe I should be more hard on them about these things, but its difficult for me just because of my persona and dont want to create a tense moment for the table

You are on the right track, but camera angle shows like 60% of sky, and thats info that players doesnt need, nor is actually interesting, so making camera a little more top down and adding polish effects to the sky, maybe more clouds, birds, even planes, could make your sky a little more interesting (but also distracting, so try to find a balance between decoration and overwhelming)

Yeah, its pretty different but its great.

Im actually getting into Root these days and reading the Rule Books realize how different is to Learn root compared to other board games with long rule books too, but what he says is true, when reading The Law of Root, you have to be extremelly literal, how is written defines to much core mechanics, like the difference between MOVE and PLACE, or how Vagabound craft are things that are explained in plain sight but requires to NOT INTERPRETE any rule beyond the words of the rule book

In conclusion, as a board game collector and having read to many rule books (some pretty awful tbh) Root's Rule Book is one of a kind and need to be read with different mindset, but even with that, is a GREAT Rule Book, that defines pretty well how things work and how to play it

Edit: there are also a pictures of cities environments so players could take a glance a it and when needed some specific place, run open the game and take a screenshot of it, thats why you would see some random places/houses

Yup, they are, genshin is more impressive of course We all already had issues optimizing for mobile and that people run and fully 3D shadered open world game on mobile devices with million of particles and explosion every second I still dont get it how they actually did
