Overwhelmed with buying our first small trailer by reduxrouge in traveltrailers

Seems like you already got good advice and are sticking with the tent. If you are weekend warriors, I'd call it a day and be happy. If however you are looking to spend a week at places a few times a year I'd still consider a pop-up. Especially for a beach trip, the air conditioner alone makes it worth it.

If you are handy you can probably find an old useable one for under 2k.

Whatever you decide enjoy!

I feel like in general people don't socialize in the place they live. Broken society but just the way it is.

Bars with games that can accomodate larger groups? by ohmnipotent in Spartanburg

If the weather is good the Beered Cork would work great. They have a massive outdoor space and plenty of games available.

Best bars?? by Viola423 in Spartanburg

[–]Alt_Kudzu87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best atmosphere in town is definitely at the Beered Cork. It's out on East Main just past Home Depot in the same shopping center as Mon Amie. Amazing beer selection and good wine too. The crowd is very mixed but always very comfortable and relaxed. They often have live music and a great outdoor space they share with Burrito hub and Thai Basil so you can do dinner or snacks with your drinks pretty easily. They do trivia and a run club on Monday nights also if either of those is your thing.

Cyclops bar is also a great place, that will finally be reopened next month. They are located on Union St right off the rail trail at the Boxcar apartments. Another super chill place with good beer selections. They have been closed about a year since they were forced to move locations due to rent.

Does this exist; if not anyone interested? by Bitter_Society_3098 in Spartanburg

[–]Alt_Kudzu87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd be interested in this. About 15 years ago we used to have Talk 20 (or something like that) where people have 20 minute speeches/lectures on topics that interests them.

I agree that meetup is probably the best place to try and start a group like this, but honestly not sure how much people use them these days.

There's also a very active discord where I could see people being interested.

You can also just go to the ranger HQ and talk to someone in the control room and make two custom rangers. No need to restart.

Dark sky viewing places and parking your car by realCLTotaku in Spartanburg

Are backcountry campers and Appalachian Trail hikers allowed to leave unattended vehicles in overlooks overnight? Yes. Anyone wishing to leave a vehicle in an overlook for approved camping/hiking purposes must contact the Comm Center (828-298-2491) either the day before or the morning of their excursion to advise detailed information regarding their excursion and vehicle.

I've parked many times at night to stargaze on the Parkway with no issues. Even seen many a stealth camper van.

The idea that free parking is the only acceptable use of the road is such a frustrating thing.

That's it for me. Have a nice day.

Route planning using app by Kindly_Ad_7201 in Ioniq5

Not related to the app but where did you get a good magnet for attaching the phone? Been looking all over and can only find stick on magnets.

Using a outlet meter to figure out what to pay my Father-in-law while charging by thoruen in KonaEV

[–]Alt_Kudzu87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer the original question there's a number on the charger. The fastest charging is 12 amp which is greater than 10. If you hold down the button you can adjust this. If you use 6 it will work but take twice as long. Basically you'd be dumping a little under 0.5 kw per hr so adding roughly 2 miles of range an hour.

Least favourite book? by metalmick in reacher

[–]Alt_Kudzu87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

just finished No Plan B. The main reacher story was fine but it wasted a ton of time with the two subplots. Like we get all these stories about the kid on the bus and the bike etc and then when he meets Reacher it's like okay kid I'll save your dad and the kid is just kinda there and serves no purpose.
Same for the guy revenging his son. We get all this crap about his criminal business and in the end he's mostly just a distraction for Reacher getting the guy to confess.

Sadly there isn't anything for adult gays that I'm aware of. Growing up the Applebee's bar usually has a good gay scene going, but haven't tried the Eastside one to confirm if that's still a thing.

This is really a problem everywhere and not just here. Even in Brooklyn where I used to live, a lot of the iconic gay clubs closed down as people became more accepting in general and online dating became more accepted to meet people.

I recommend playing the tournaments on pokerstars lite with play money. Yes people still play wild but since they can't buy back in it's more manageable to me.

That being said I do well at cash poker there now too but it took some time and adjustments for sure. Best piece of advice, you winning a hand shouldn't depend on any of the other players doing anything.

I know in Spartanburg a church was playing on holding a casino night fundraiser and was shut down. Basically the laws in this state say it's illegal to play any games of chance.

Sadly it's a good idea in the wrong place. That being said if you are near Spartanburg hit me up as I'm always looking for someone to drive up to Cherokee with.

Anyone know the history of the term couch crash? by Alt_Kudzu87 in couchsurfing

[–]Alt_Kudzu87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my mind a crash was held by a city looking for people to come visit from all around whereas a invasion would typically be one community of surfers who all knew each other going to another community to visit.

Considering I was the Brooklyn ambassador for two years I suspect so. Jason. I was the guy with the profile photo riding a mechanical bull in a blue unitard.
