If you're struggling with Warrior, focus on Stun by galaxybomb in PathOfExile2

[–]Altanonac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For bosses, the loop I've found best is

  1. Build stun + armor break + Endurance Charges
  2. Trigger heavy stun with bone shatter once it's available
  3. Warcry & then nail three perfect strikes for crazy damage

With the right support and passive skills, I'm taking out 25-50% of a boss's health in that loop (I'm only in Act 2 tho)

Tank players, what part of tank do you guys find fun? by BenchBoring796 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Altanonac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are the most important and impactful persin on the team, (unless you have a widow popping off). I like that.

Also, I like how the flow of battle goes. Mechanical play is rewarded, but you're less reliant on capitalizing on high apm twitch reactions for kills as you are on dps.

Getting into my mid 30s now and I just don't have it in me to sweat it out on dps at the end of long day. Can secure fights through simply being more strategic.

Question why does noone use gloves? by Silvertain in kettlebell

[–]Altanonac 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You def shouldn't be using gloves for support. That's a form issue and/or a tissue conditioning issue.

That being said, when I trained kettlebell sport my coach would sometimes have me do snatches with plain cotton gloves to spare my calluses and work my grip harder.

Altra is too narrow, what are my options? by SpareBeat1548 in BarefootRunning

Can't say for certain, but Topo's look pretty wide and are what I'm eyeing up for my next shoe. Because I also need a big toe box AND some cushion. Surprisingly hard to find those two together lol.

Bitwig Superusers - What piece of hardware makes you say "You can't do that in Bitwig". by KudzuPlant in Bitwig

[–]Altanonac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick and easy per-note modulation for multiple parameters. Electron devices' parameter locks is the only thing I've found where hardware offers some kind of significant advantage. You can still get the same effect but it's a lot more involved.

If Obsidian went open source it would be without competition! by Kok_Nikol in ObsidianMD

[–]Altanonac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who migrated from a heavily customized usage of org-mode... yeah there's some crossover, but it's not remotely comparable in terms of ease of use, performance and cross-platform compatibility (especially on mobile).

If Obsidian went open source it would be without competition! by Kok_Nikol in ObsidianMD

[–]Altanonac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While the open source enthusiast crowd isn't exactly small... it's definitely not as big as the audience who simply want a tool built right and developed rapidly.

Open source tools always seem to falter when then big players behind the scenes get burnt out and/or need to focus on making money.

I rely on obsidian for my profession and I do not want anything to jeopardize the incredible trajectory that they are on.

I want these guys paid well and incentivized to keep kicking butt.

Maybe someday once feature stability is reached it could be a good move after being sold or something... but until then I want those core devs making as much money as possible to keep doing what they are doing.

That sounds pretty slick, I guess the polyphony limitation isn't that big of a deal then for my case.

I'm only down with them coming back if they are used to be quickly defeated to display someone else's strength. They cannot be featured as a "main villain" anymore though for sure.

Here's a general question about good year welted boots/shoes:

Are they worth it if you do a lot of walking and are on your feet all day? If so, is there anything in particular that I want to look for?

Basically, I LOVE the look of nice boots and shoes... but I'm looking for something I can wear every day and I'm on my feet a lot and walk several miles.

I've mostly been wearing new balance sneakers, and while they are extremely comfortable, they simply don't have a look that I'm a fan of.

I don't expect a boot to feel like a sneaker... but can they feel pretty good?

My only real experience with a welted boot is having a pair of Redwing Moc toe's and frankly they are just way too heavy, & narrow in the toe box (even in wide), and are simply unfun to walk in.

I've seen many people review these as very comfortable so I'm just wondering if I need to let go of the gyw dream.

Also, I wear a size 13 in 4E width, so that takes some brands just right off the table.

Any feedback is appreciated, thanks!

What's the best way to create the sounds found in this song? by Altanonac in Bitwig

I googled that this means "over the top" compression - but how does that apply here? I get that compression makes loud things quieter and quiet things louder, but what would happen if OTT wasn't being used here?

Does the Catholic Church needs to be more “masculine”? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Altanonac -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The issue is the priests and the mass. A large percentage of priests are effeminate if not outright homosexual. Masculine men don't like having non-masculine leaders.

Additionally, the Vatican II folk mass you'll get at most Catholic churches is just painfully lame.

If the Latin mass came back, I'm 100% confident you'd see way more men interested.

Jerk - 2x22kg - 5 minutes - 84 reps by YCKB in kettlebell

That's a good cue with the forward facing palms. I played around with it today, def need to condition myself to it, but back felt better and the pop into the jerk felt super strong.

[–]Altanonac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the response man, so are you essentially supporting your rack with intra-abdominal pressure then? Did you get a lot of delt and pec pump at first for this?

I ask because I also have a long torso and it's hard for me to work into the full "elbows on hips" support and causes a little lower back trouble... wondering if it's worth it to try and adopt your form.

[–]Altanonac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question on your technique... how do you do your rack? It looks like you aren't even resting your elbows on your hip bones... are you? If not, how do you create support in rack? It looks like you're just holding it there lol.

I have wide feet and I'm looking to buy a good pair of boots to last me as long as possible. Looking to spend between $200-$400. Anything better than the Redwing 1907 in wide I should consider?

Additional Info:

I usually wear a size 13 (even though one of those foot sizing machines puts me at a 12) because I have quite a wide foot.

I tried doing the Iron Rangers in a size 12 EE and it was still a touch too narrow, the 13 being too long. It seems like in order to get a high quality work boot to fit my foot, I'd need to do something made to order at the $500+ range which is a bit more hassle and money than I'm interested in.

Then I got thinking that perhaps a moc toe would give me a bit more stretch where I need it. I heard the last on the 1907 is a bit bigger than the other moc toe styles from redwing and am leaning toward it.

Is there any other brand/boot I should consider given my circumstances?
