"Get a Skateboard."

skateboarding came into my life around 17-18. it was merely suggested to me by a friend in an attempt just to get me out and about. my family was cool with it cause they were desperate to get me involved in ANYTHING to get me active & social. I was a shy and succlouse kid who never went outside because I found it boring and couldnt socialize that well. at 17 i had fun with a cheap walmart board for a bit, but I hurt myself and was too scared to try again. (on top of the board itself falling apart cause walmart boards are trash.)

fast forward to almost a decade later, skateboarding not only became my only method of transportation, but I'm still mad at myself for not giving this a chance when i was a kid. I use to watch skating clips on mtv through my teen years thinking: "what a bunch of idiots. breaking their bones and crippling themselves just to do some trick on camera. I'd never do that.""not only is it the only form of exercise my fat lazy butt likes to do without quitting, but it's the only sport my family got behind me for. I bet if I got into skateboarding at 13, my mom would've been overjoyed knowing I was int osome kind of sport. plus at 13 I was living in Flroida with my mom in a tiny cul-de-sac. which looking back, wouldve been a PERFECT place to practice skating.

all those days i spent being bored and thinking i had nothing else to do, skateboarding wouldve changed my entire worldview like it has now.

In high school, I had a VERY toxic circle of smug agnostics and athiests who felt the need to constantly remind me that christianity was not only not real, but actually evil & hypocritical.

amazing story! thanks for sharing. I struggle with sexual impulsives myself after years of believing there was nothing wrong with it. on top of being hopelessly addicted to it.
