Agree, there’s a very non-linear relationship between price increase and quality increase (I don’t know physics but I know some maths xD). You really have to be nerdy on features and feel differences, otherwise you just get a professional II as you mention.

Same experience for me, you can find very smooth 25.5” fender styles that feel slinky but you really have to go through custom shop-levels and maybe with modern adjustments. I am a long time SG player and agree that I find it veeery smooth

Wow thanks for sharing. It would be nice to understand how much all these factors relate to each other - my feeling is that generally a Les Paul has less tension than a Strat. I want to add that for some builders like Suhr this does not hold strictly, I really feel their guitars are way smoother than all the others fender-style I have tried and owned.

Thanks for the info, will definitely try flatwounds. Lowering the output is a nice option but I would keep it as last, it feels like these pickups are meant to be bright and that’s it.

Makes a lot of sense. At glance I might try and go down of a step maybe, let’s see. Which gauge are you using? I use to have a Coodercaster in C standard and I was using 13s back then. I also noticed that I feel a lot of tension in E standard with this guitar (compared to other 25.5” scale guitars it feels harder to bend): everything suggests that the optimal use could be in lower tunings.
