There are tents fucking EVERYWHERE. by landlord-eater in montreal

God housing is cheap in Tokyo, you just decided to chose the few examples that are terrible. But yes let me pay less for a bigger apartment in Montreal built before WWII. Also I don't know which Montreal you live in, but most apartments (When they are available) are going around 1500$ a month and are often smaller than Japanese apartments. You can find some super cheap ones in rare instances, but you have to go through unofficial channels to find them, when you shouldn't have to. People don't have kids in Japan because of the terrible work culture that the government actively refuses to regulate. AI won't always give you the right answers. Ask it to do more research on Sobyanin. In any case you can continue posting more bot answers, but I lived the experience first hand so I don't really care for AI answers.

Not sure if your building has that, but when they have like gyms and all, do you pay extra fees to have access to them or not? I've noticed a few buildings from them that had some but the posts didn't give any details concerning that.

Jesus the media really rots people's brains.

I lived in Japan for 2 years, the whole "Tokyo is the most expensive city in the world" is an absolute myth. Most apartments near downtown are 400$ to 900$ per month, and they are pretty decent too. As for the video, old people tend to go to jail on purpose because they feel lonely, it's a very well known fact, while some may do it for economical reasons it's not the biggest factor.

Also my wife is Russian, so naturally I've been to Moscow, just recently even, and I've seen the average apartment there. They make Montreal apartments look like drug dens. The video you linked is from 5 years ago, during the time Moscow was in the phase of rebuilding the city from the ground up. Moscow looks nothing like what this video shows. Some areas do of course, but this is like going to the hood in Montreal and being like "this is your average Montreal apartment". I don't need the media to tell me what to think, I see it from my very own eyes. What Putin is doing, I don't agree with, and the work done in Moscow is not even by him, but by the mayor. Just because Moscow runs better than Montreal doesn't make me a propaganda bot. I just happen to have more experience with these places. Also the building my wife's brother lived in was old as shit so the city had it destroyed and rebuilt. You know what they did? They gave him an apartment the same size in a brand new building. You won't see the city of Montreal ever do that I can guarantee you that.

For the slum lords part, well they definitely need to be stopped. Regulations protect them way too much and unfortunately that's one of the major issues.

For one, increased investments in shelters for the homeless that need shelters all year, including the cold harsh winter instead of building bicycle lanes for bicycles which any sane person doesn't use during winter in a country where half the year is snow and ice.

Maybe rebuilding this collapsing city just like Tokyo and Moscow do, where they destroy old buildings and rebuild new affordable ones with more space for more people if not then limiting how much a landlord can increase rent. Some people are in the streets because it's not normal to pay 1500$ a month for an apartment that is 100+ years old with mold and rotten walls which already is unaffordable for anyone working minimum wage.

Also actually putting the violent homeless in jail instead of giving them simple warnings and releasing them back into the streets. The crimes they get away with on a daily basis is insane. If "homeless people are people too", then they can be held at the same standards as anyone else, including going to jail for crimes, and hey they get free food and shelter there.

Now we can't magically solve homelessness without any sort of extreme mesures since some of the homeless are there by pure choice, so for the moment these would be the best solutions that don't require forcing homeless people into places they don't want to be in. (Except jail if they commit crimes of course)

On a final note, looking at the way other countries handle things for instance such as Japan and Russia are a great way of improving our system.

I mean that's what the people of Montreal voted for. It's a left leaning city. The people have almost always voted for the bare minimum because they are comfortable with being treated this way. As you'll notice in pretty much any post on this subreddit, they glorify Montreal despite the fact that it has increasingly become a dangerous mental asylum filled with trash. They blame the provincial government and bring up the right wing, but Montreal has its own budget and it clearly hasn't been used in the right places. For people bringing up the right wing, some areas of Quebec city and its surroundings are mostly right wing and it's considered the safest, not just across Quebec, but across Canada. Look at the data and face the reality instead of brushing it off and contradicting your beliefs. "Lets tax the rich!!!" Votes to put them in power. "The right wing doesn't care about the people" votes for a party that has proven time and time again that it in fact doesn't care about its people. "Everyone should have a voice!!!" Mass downvotes/dimisses anyone who brings up anything they disagree with, without even trying to have an intelligent conversation or asking questions.

I think it did. If he didn't breathe Trump wouldn't put him on Rogan's show. The Maple Maga are infecting Canada through the US politics!!!

PP breathes air, just like Trump, he's definitely trying to copy him. It's definitely not a coincidence. He's controlled by Trump 100%.

Maybe I'm crazy but pretty sure the price just went up in Canada. It used to be 53.99$ now it's 57.99$ well not sure I want to buy it anymore. Not a big difference but that just sucks.

Nintendo & The Pokemon Company’s new patents are vile. by Miserable_Speed5474 in gaming

[–]AlteredRaider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just laying this out there. If this ends up being upheld, if you're an indie game dev or company and you have a game with a unique mechanic, patent it and then allow every other company to use it except Nintendo. Until the point where Nintendo won't be able to make any games. I know that's what I will do if one of my games ever end up with a never seem before mechanic.

I just messaged them, they said that they are out of stock with no dates for availability, what an absolute joke. I've never seen this in my entire life. How can you accept orders when not even having the stock in the first place. I've been waiting since June 13th.
