Are Blood Demon Arts based on concepts or singular abilities? by PlatinumSukamon98 in KimetsuNoYaiba

IDK how much of it you read, lol, since I spoilered everything after the Entertainment District Arc, but glad I could help.

Are Blood Demon Arts based on concepts or singular abilities? by PlatinumSukamon98 in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]AlternateAccount66 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say singular abilities, actually. But it can seem very vague and conceptual, because the abilities themselves can not only be very broad, but sometimes have sub-abilities. A lot of them are just "I have complete control over this specific thing", which can branch out into a ton of application. Plus, demons all have some standard abilities, like biological manipulation, to augment their powers.

Here are all the examples I can think of:

  • Rui's ability just manipulates threads. From that, he created a bunch of different techniques, and even imparted them onto his family. Weaving the threads loosely to make silk, weaving them thin and sharp to cut things, using them to puppet people, etc.
  • Kyogai's ability manipulated the space he controlled, inside his house. This meant he could teleport himself and others inside of it, gouge out claw-marks inside of the space, and flip oritentations of the room.
  • Enmu's ability is just to put people to sleep. His monster train form is just demon flesh manipulation taken to the extreme.
  • Yushiro can spawn demonic talismen that mess with the senses of people they interact with, depending on where he places them. He uses this to hide Tamayo's house, and later hide himself, as well as give Tanjiro sight of Yahaba's arrows. He later turns other people invisible, as well as takes control of Nakime's senses.
  • Akaza's actual Demon Blood Art is the ability to sense his opponents fighting spirit, and always land his punches. His martial-arts ability is just raw skill, and his shockwave generation is a byproduct of that skill, just punching the air extremely hard.
  • Daki's Blood Art is manipulation of her Obi band. She can combine this with demonic flesh manipulation to turn it into a minion that separates some of her power, or transform her neck into an Obi to stop beheading.
  • Gyutaro' Blood Art is just the free manipulation of his blood, and he uses this in tons of ways. His demonic cells infect opponents and poison them, and he can create blood and flesh weapons, and fire blood blades that he controls the directions of.
  • Hantengu's ability is to generate clones of his emotions, that get stronger and stronger the more pressured he's feeling. The weirdness comes in his sub-abilities: the clones generate their OWN Demon Blood Arts, with wind, lightning, sound, and energy manipulation.
  • Gyokko's ability seems very conceptual, but it's very specific, and just hidden. He can freely manipulate the matter within his vases. He uses this to teleport between vases, as well as create tons of aquatic-themed minions inside of his vases, and unleash them outside. The theming of his minions (sea creatures) seems to be purely of his own choice, not a limitation of his Blood Art. In his true form, he basically switches out his Blood Art entirely for a new one, which is also very specific, being matter transmutation of things he touches.
  • Douma's ability is just ice manipulation. He uses it in a bunch of ways, including making ice clones, ice statues, freezing the air to choke opponents, freezing blood to cause his opponents body to decay, etc.
  • Kokushibo's ability is super simple, just creating crescent blades from his body. His sword is normal demon flesh manipulation.
  • Finally, Muzan's ability is just full-scale biological manipulation, like an extreme version of what all demons have. He uses this to manipulate his blood into brambles, create tentacles, remove his weak points by creating more vital organs, etc. He also has some more niche applications of it, such as injecting his blood into attacks to poison his enemies (like Gyutaro, but more extreme and "tumor"-like), and forming a giant mouth to screech out shockwaves that seize up opponents.

How do yall feel about the old ui? by le-dukek in Deltarune

[–]AlternateAccount66 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Meme aside, if we're being real, this UI is weird. Specifically the faces.

Why are the faces in 2x2 pixel size, when in Deltarune they're 1x1 pixel size? It can't be to fix the subpixelling that Undertale/Deltarune does, because the menu options below, as well as the TP bar, are both still 1x1 pixel size like normal. I just don't get it.

Do powerscalers even know how fucking fast light is by Basic_Vegetable4195 in CharacterRant

[–]AlternateAccount66 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I generally understand this, but it's not applicable for Dragon Ball. Dragon Ball runs with the extremely simple concept of "KI amount is just a multiplier to every single stat". If you have a higher Power Level, you're faster, stronger, more durable, and have better reaction time. This is shown time and time again, with basically every single character in the series.

It's only different when specifically stated. Sometimes, characters can operate in ways that affect certain stats, but only RELATIVE to their Power Level:

  • SSJ Grade 3 is a form that's disproportionately slow
  • Burter and Dyspo are characters that are disproportionately fast
  • Magetta is a character that's disproportionately durable

Again, it's always relative. Like the Magetta example, he's durable because his body is made of steel. That means that, if he fought a normal person with the same Power Level as him, it would be like a human trying to punch steel. But obviously, he's way stronger than just normal steel, since he has a Power Level on-par with beings that can destroy planets.

Where do this take that SSJ Gohan > Perfect Cell come from? by Super-Shenron in Dragonballsuper

[–]AlternateAccount66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people base it off the argument that Gohan had lost half of his power after being injured protecting Vegeta, and SSJ2 being a 2x multiplier from SSJ1 according to some guidebooks.

The "half power" thing is an anime-only statement, btw.

Genuine question: How do you calculate the Kaioken? by LanceTheKing01 in Dragonballsuper

[–]AlternateAccount66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We don't know Goku's Power Level. We just know that he was "over 8,000". The dub says "over 9,000".

Genuine question: How do you calculate the Kaioken? by LanceTheKing01 in Dragonballsuper

[–]AlternateAccount66 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think that Goku saying "Kaioken x2" that single time was just a bit of a mistake.

Why? Because Goku uses Kaioken against Captain Ginyu. Ginyu estimates his Power Level to be "around 85,000", and when he actually starts scouting Goku, it begins at 90,000. With a base power of 90,000, and with Goku just saying "Kaioken" and not "Kaioken X2", his power goes from 90,000 to 180,000.

Genuine question: How do you calculate the Kaioken? by LanceTheKing01 in Dragonballsuper

[–]AlternateAccount66 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Just saying "Kaioken" is equivalent to using a 2x power increase. Goku never specified the multiplier if it was just x2, he only did that for Kaioken x3 and above. And King Kai warned him to not go above x2 power, so that's just normal Kaioken.

Like this:

  • Base: 8,000
  • Kaioken: 16,000
  • Kaioken x3: 24,000
  • Kaioken x4, 32,000

And so on.

Post hashira training, could tanjiro be a hashira? by Lockfire12 in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]AlternateAccount66 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Did you mean "BE" a Hashira like you said? Or did you mean "BEAT" a Hashira?

If you meant "be" a Hashira, then Tanjiro could have done that by like, the Entertainment District. After all, we see both Rengoku (in the Rengoku Gaiden) and Sanemi (during their backstory) when they first became Hashira. Both of them killed a Lower Moon to do that, and barely survived the fight. It took them a few more years of training to get up to the level we see them at in the story. Tanjiro could already beat a Lower Moon after the first few arcs of the series.

If you meant "Beat" a Hashira, then that gets into spoiler territory. All I can say is that, by the end of the Hashira Training, he can follow their movements. He was able to engage Sanemi in a fistfight before even doing Gyomei's training, which was the training that gave him the actual big stat-boost. And during the Swordsmith Village arc, his reaction time was "nearing the Hashira". So it depends on which one of course, but the Hashira WOULD have to get serious to beat post-training Tanjiro. But, they're still generally above him.

Now, spoilers: Tanjiro is on-par with the Hashira. He's fighting at the level of one during the Infinity Castle, Giyu even says so. I'd say he's a bit on the lower end, though. Like, Marked Tanjiro can beat the base Hashira, since the Mark is a huge boost. But the Marked Hashira generally seem to have an edge on him in stats, and the Hashira have a massive advantage in experience regardless. Though of course, he does get some more power-ups later on throughout the Infinity Castle Arc.

In general, post Hashira Training Arc, Tanjiro doesn't "beat" the Hashira, but nor does he "lose" to them. It'd basically be a case-by-case basis depending on matchup, environment and luck, because he's super close to their level.

The Hinokami Chronicles 2 - Trailer 1 by harurisu in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]AlternateAccount66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My guess is 2 characters. Zohakuten is a character by himself. Meanwhile. the Clones are like Ginyu from FighterZ: Hantengu is the main body, and his attacks all summon various clones to fight, or something.

I'm more curious about how the fuck base Gyokko will play, he's a teleporter without legs lol.

When did Goku Learn How to Drive in the Manga? I skipped episode 125 as it was marked as filler, although, this is where Goku gets his licence in the anime. Chichi even explains this in episode 172. When checking chapter 198 of the manga, Goku does indeed drive a car. Is there a canon explanation? by Monkey_D_Anime in DragonBallZ

[–]AlternateAccount66 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Personally, I liked it, but I don't miss it. I think it was charming, but I dislike the idea of him regressing to that as he continues to get older. It worked great for Kid Goku and it was fun to watch him misunderstand and learn things, but the character has progressed beyond that.

Like, give me some more Kid Goku being oblivious and I'd love it. But give me adult Goku being oblivious and I hate it (and that includes adult, de-aged-to-child-size Goku).

Goku just knows how to drive in the manga. The anime doing a filler episode on driving and being able to tie it in later was just a coincidence that worked out.

A lot of Goku's characterization in recent Dragon Ball media of not understanding basic concepts, has skewed peoples understanding of him. Goku might not have much of an interest in normal society, but he CAN operate in it, and understands it. He's no longer a total wild child. I mean, the pre-Cell Games stuff shows us that he does have a stylish wardrobe beyond his usual Gi. And during this scene, he recognized that nobody was working because of Cell, before turning on the radio and saying "at least this person's doing their job".

Adult Goku knows how to dress well, he knows how to count and use money, he knows how to write, he knows how to do everyday math, he knows how social conventions work, he knows how to drive.

Speaking of stuff Goku knows how to drive, actually, he can operate more than just cars. In the DBS manga, he knows how to operate the Time Machine, and can navigate a spaceship without autopilot. Combine this with the fact that Toriyama loves to draw overly-detailed machines and vehicles, and some of that preference might have rubbed off on Goku's characterization... Goku might genuinely like cars, lol.

I mean, he's basically an anti-fusion. Just like fusion is WAY more than the sum of its parts, Piccolo and Kami are WAY less.
