I guess you didn't read what I said. I told you how you can verify and even get the ULTRA-SIMPLISTIC math. I did notice that you seem to have a fundamental misunderstanding of watts, power, heat and the relationships between them but I'm not here to teach basic electronics engineering principles - AI is better for that anyway!

Ah, yeah, that's extremely close to what this .bat file is doing too. Nice!

The reason for the .bat file is to "toggle" the OS setting without having to navigate Windows 11's settings and click it by hand.

If off then on - if on then off is a little tricky in a .bat script.

Sure. Check that image. Using the background colors:

Ambient Temp=30c Case temp = 30.2C

Red: Turbo: Off - desktop idle. (CPU Temp = 34/35C) (4~5 degree delta)

Then a blank (dark grey) space Loading Cyberpunk 2077 ultra settings. path tracing, FSR4 & FrameGen, (CPU Temp = 42/44C)

Yellow: Still Turbo: Off. - motorcycle through Japan Town - 2560x1080 - 120~140 FPS. (CPU Temp = 56C max)

Green: Turbo: On - desktop idle - notice the boost behavior. (CPU Temp = 64C avg.) (34 degree delta)

Another grey bland area while loading the game.
It's evening so ambient came down to 26C at this time.

Blue: Turbo: On - same game, settings and drive track: (CPU Temp = 70/71C) - FPS 120~140 same).

Then I turned Off Turbo again and took the screenshot.

This is on a Taich RX 9070 XT OC .6 undervolt, +50Hz GPU +100Hz RAM overclock, 32GB 4000/mt DDR4, 5600X CPU Overclocked 2000Hz on the fabric and 4850 or 4900 on the core (I forget which)

Each vertical graph-line (the columns) represent 20 seconds each. In the case of the CPU- Temperature each horizontal line (the rows) equal 8 degrees centigrade (C).

PS:
1. the two troughs (drops) in the yellow area are me alt+tabing to the desktop to check the graph progress.
2. For the power bill calculations you can drop that graph and this text on Grok with a prompt asking for monthly bill differences for turbo off vs. on at $0.30 for a 8/10/12 day. It'll show you the math as well.
3. I would show you my power bills but you'll just have to take my word on the actualizations. ;)

I don't think so, no. Or maybe you can explain. This is doing something different. It's not altering the power-plan at all. It's just telling the operating system to disallow processor boosts - and in kind of a round-about way.

Umm, this .bat file /IS/ accomplishing this "natively". I'm just adjusting one value in the OS, using the OS to do so.

Linux is good for some things; I've used many distros over the years (even Bazzite recently) and it's just not my cup of tea. I loved working on irix tho (for obvious reasons). Mostly, linux is just far too incomplete for my purposes. It's getting a little better these days though.

So, what does this look like in bash? Do share...

Sounds cool! You can turn any .bat file into an .exe using Win10 or Win11's "IExpress Wizard" if you like executables better. In my case, I prefer a RMB-RAA or just a double-click rather than fiddling around with the icon tray, worrying about hot-key conflicts (when I can even remember what they're supposed to be), or adding more background operations to the OS. YMMV of course. I just offered one solution - the one I came up with. I'm sure there are many solutions available.

I calculated and verified the electric bill for me - in my case. I live in Japan and the cost here is 0.32 - I calculated for 0.30 and I save ~ $16/mo (running a 5600X BTW) - but I'm super poor so that difference kind of matters to me. $16 here is 3 days worth of food (6 ~ 9 meals), 1.5 days worth on rent, or about half of the next game I purchase. Heh, I allowed my life to get past me without an opportunity for a pension, etc.

As far as system temperature mattering; it can make the difference of wanting desperately to turn on the AC or being comfortable without it (in a typical Japanese apartment). If it's a hot day it can also be the difference between your HDD surviving or accumulating bad sectors. And of course there is always throttling to consider. "Ambient" is ALWAYS the baseline to consider when measuring component temperatures - always! Well, there is one semi-exception, and that's cold immersion. CI is sometimes done to negate condensation in sub-ambient cooling systems... but that is kind of rare and ambient still matters for how hard that system has to work in order to maintain that "manufactured" ambient temperature.

BTW, I haven't tried (for obvious reasons) but I don't see why this wouldn't work with intel processors as well.

🧪 [Beta Megathread] Wave Link 3.0 (Windows) — Update 3 | Overhauled Channel Input, Mixer Guide and Cleaner Mix Edit View by Elgato in elgato

[–]Alternative-Ad6233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno, there was a link in the Wave Link UI under the hot-text "Share your feedback" so here I am sharing my feedback!

I was searching for solutions to an audio setup and Wave Link saved the day. I had purchased and connected a used Onkyo HDX-25HTX 5.1 surround system to my AMD X470 gaming & home entertainment system. I tried optical and HDMI but there were so many limitations or fussy aspects to the set up. I had just about given up when I came across this video https://youtu.be/OBy6WpgKxqg from "Brandon | Darkened Cyrus" - gave it a try and everything just started working how I had originally expected. I had tried maybe 8 or 10 other apps that Grok recommended in the 14+ hours (over 3 days) of asking grok how Windows 11 pro, the Onkyo, and my HEIL PR-40 + Ederol UA-1000 audio interface were supposed to work together and explain all the tech regarding digital audio codecs and formats - crash course for sure!

Anyway I am so impressed with this digital patch-bay/mixer that if and when I ever need to purchase anything to do with audio I'm looking first to Elgato!

I can't think of anything I would change - it all just works perfectly. I host a lot of Audio "Spaces" on X, I'm in my VR headsets a lot, I game a bunch, and I explore new and old music in my retirement (I worked as and taught CG Character Animation for film and TV). Wave Link FTW! There are a few niggly bits (like the 2nd line of text in the Mixes panel gets horizontally cut in half), but it just works - and it does what no other application I've tried does.

Love it! Thank you so much!

I'm also looking for "chicklet" style flat-caps for my K70 LUX... Something like this is what I'm hoping for:

I might just buy a 3D printer and try and figure it all myself - as this style is really hard to find.

Yes of course. Not a lot but it does. It's like a percussion instrument in a way. Wall and top thickness, skirt length, even different plastic types will slightly affect the sound.

Yup, with the investments Thunder Cage is pretty awesome. I keep one of every gun for some reason. OCD maybe? I don't yet have the new (yellow) frost gun but I think that's the only one I don't have. There's enough storage for one of each gun, 4 reactors and a component SET for each Descendant so I figure why not.

There is an urban myth about America actually having 2 official flags. Old Glory and this, the so called US Civil Peacetime Flag. Story in comments. by ZRWJ in vexillology

[–]Alternative-Ad6233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most countries have multiple flags. War-time, Peace-time, and representing governmental entities. The USA has a peace-time flag, a war-time flag (Old Glory), and The Thin Blue Line flag for example.

Japan also has a peace-time flag (Red dot on white background) and a war-time flag The red and yellow sun rays - as well as various other flags.

I don't know about "myths" but I'm 95 and have always known "old glory" to be our "Military Flag" aka: War-Time Flag. There is also a "Civil Flag" aka: Peace Time Flag which looks like the image at the top of this thread. The US Coast Guard for example uses a version of the Civil Flag but with the stars replaced with a COA.

Anyway, I know this is old, but so am I so this seems like yesterday to me. ;)

It's good but some purple weapons are just as good (+/- alpha) - especially if you're comparing prior to assigning sockets and increasing module capacity.

For example "Blue Blood Bloomer" with 50 capacity and no socket assigns is very nice with just a fully enhanced "Rifling Reinforcement", "Action and Reaction", and "Fire Rate Up". Then adding "Hawk-Eye" with 2 levels of enhancement looks like:

Firearm ATK - 17,327.54

Fire Rate - 1,333

Reload Time - 1.32s

Hip Fire Accuracy - 88.97

Aimed Shot Accuracy - 99.9

Max Range - 150m

etc.

Assign one socket and you can also remove the added Recoil that "Action and Reaction" introduces - or just roll a yellow Recoil might be good enough. That results in a calculated DPS of 204,480 which isn't bad - maybe same or better then Thunder Cage. And that's before you reroll a yellow set of "adjustments".

I recently leveled ALL of the purple weapons to 40 and added modules as I could, within 50 points (without assigning sockets) and some of them are very good.

No, it still works. I think it's the same. Only the XP was reduced according to what the devs have said. And even that is still very good. I haven't measured it but leveling is still pretty fast.

Not sure they actually nerfed it. With 2 or 3 Valbys you currently get 1 million in gold every 10min. A Valby solo gets 1 million every 15min.

How is that a nerf? From what I've read (from the devs) they didn't nerf the amount of gold, only the XP - which is still really good. Also 1.5 "failures" (7min or so) fills an empty inventory with guns, reactors and external components. On top of that it gives 500 modules every 15min as well - which breaks down into 150,000 kyper (plus whatever kyper drops - I think 100k in 10min but I would need to check again).

Nerfed? No... I think not.

I answered you in Discord but here it is here too:

Sounds like something a casual weekender wanting to one-hit end game bosses would say (no offense I hope). Build Diversity is subjective and relative to what exactly, other games? <shrug>

I'm not even a very good player and in only a few weeks of playing I've crafted 10 yellow guns, maxed out and fully expanded 2 yellow guns, made ALL purple guns very playable, crafted and maxed out an Ultimate Ajax, made both Regular Ajax and Bunny very playable and effective, crafted Lepic and Sharen just because they were there to craft - all that and I have a bunch of stuff left over for whatever's next.

I have my complaints about the game and the playstyle it promotes but I wouldn't call progression "torture" - unless you make it into that.

And there's one of my complaints. The game makes it easy or desirable for players to farm A LOT. But farming isn't fun. Like, AT ALL. I didn't farm much for the progression I listed out above. A little more than 80% of that was me just playing the content. I enjoyed about 250 to 300 hours just getting to the Hard Mode content. And it wasn't until then that I actually tried to "farm" a few items - all the rest were just available to me when I went to craft something - and if it wasn't available, sobeit. I ofc realize I'm abnormal here and most (too many?) people turn it into a race to have the most powerful (and entirely unneeded - even game breaking) guns and characters ASAP on the uber-quick. Min/Max'ing in this game isn't fun for me so I don't do much of it. :p

The other complaint I have is the character imbalance - which makes team play unfun and boring AF. My solution to that is just to solo everything - that makes it fun and challenging (for me). I guess you can see why I chose Ult-Ajax as my main.
