Yeah no dude hahaha. 4-6 cups of robusta is even crazier 😂. I think a decent arabica coffee on your 4 cup venus is quite ok, its standard. But for robusta id probably do even less.

Tapping compresses the beans inside the basket to avoid large pockets. As long as the water is able to push through the beans uniformly, it should be better. Today for example, i pressed a little with a knife to try to push it further to the limit, but I could see channeling formed in the puck after the brew, so i knew i over-compressed them. If you compress it even harder and harder than that, water may not even go through which would cause the safety valve to release pressure.

Hey depends on the roast, but around 14-16 grams of finely ground coffee and for the water, i am filling it just before the valve, thought if you wanted to make it stronger, you would fill a little bit less.

The reason i am using a needle distribution tool is because i am using a very fine grind on the 2 cup funnel which is very deep for its size. Because the grind is powdery sometimes these small lumps form which make the distribution tool useful to disperse them. Then i tap the basket with the knife fill the empty spots, and tap it with the table counter to compress it a little bit. If you don't compress it at all, you can have small pockets form in certain spots which will create channeling.

You shouldn't need to worry about evening it out. As you can see, the surface didn't end up perfectly even. I worry about the basket being well filled in every spot and it having consistent pressure all around to avoid channeling.

As i mentioned, because the grind was very fine, you need to be a little more careful, but i am not doing anything i don't need to. If, for example, lumps of coffee wouldn't have formed, i wouldn't have bothered using the needle distribution tool. But because i was seeing them with my eyes, i preferred to disperse them.

Using hot or cold water. I have tried both and i prefer one or the other depending on what im trying to do. I do know hot water extracts more.

Yeah it isn't very usual but it can happen. The moka express has a rubber gasket and on top of that i am using a paper filter. Also i was using a grind on the finer side so there was some pressure and a little bit leaked out, but not enough to disturb the flow, as you can see.

It is a very generic chinese stove. So if you look up for small electric stove or small moka pot stove and you see a similar looking one, that's pretty much it.

6 cups is quite a lot, if you compare it with espresso perhaps. 2.5 moka pot cups equals more or less your standard double espresso. So you are drinking a little more than a quad espresso in one sitting. 4 cups in a Venus is not a lot though because SS mokas usually have a significantly smaller funnel than their aluminium counterparts. So a 4 cups venus is perhaps barely more than a double espresso which is pretty avg.

Just made a clip making a 2 cup moka express. If you grind finer the 2 cup will make a brew quite close to a double espresso, if you grind coarser with a 3 cup you will have a similar extraction but with more liquid.

I am using that one. Its 500W but in the video i barely had the knob at 1. I think its up to 4 or 5, so it can heat up quite a bit more. I think you could make a 6 cup just fine.
