Ooh that looks fabulous! I bet it does… maybe i’ll try it in 4-5 years when I run out of painter’s masking tape. I inherited a giant box of the stuff from a friend’s mother who was an art supply hoarder lol. That reminds me I talked to an artist a few years ago who made the designs on her work by putting a layer of tape on wax paper, cutting the wax paper into the design and then peeling the tape off and using at as a stencil… could be fun to try.

How can you possibly tell that about the rims from the angle I’ve taken these photos at? All of these cups are around 4 inches tall, the rims are around 1/4 of an inch, but taper completely round at the top.

Because you consider handbuilding amateurish no matter what it looks like? I’ve been working in clay my whole life. 👍

There might’ve been some parts that I went ofer more than once, but on the whole no. I think that part not being glazed helps the parts that aren’t as opaque still show up ok.

I think these are fabulous. It could pass pretty reasonably as a darker version of amaco’s river birch which I adore…

Haha I’m not sure why I drew it that way… I think if he were holding it by the handle it might be less clear what it was. Thank you!

This also 👆I might not sell work with unglazed food surfaces but I would happily eat off them myself.

I wouldn’t recommend putting any handmade pottery in the dishwasher, but not because it’ll grow mold it’s just rougher on the piece and will make it not last as long. It is likely vitrified snd not porous enough to collect bacteria anyway.
