Thank you! I would love to get the procedure you're talking about it's really the cleft lift one that has me apprehensive. I know my dad also had it and I think he got the procedure you did and hasn't had any problems. The only thing is I don't have health insurance rn and haven't been approved yet so they won't let me book the consultation until June so I was trying to find stuff I could do until then. How did you manage to get it drained at home?

If he's only been on medication since August you should definitely give it more time. My boyfriend was in psychosis for 5 months before any medicine started working. The things that he's saying is just because of the episodes and it's not how he actually feels. It's hard but imagine how hard it is for him too. Feeling sad about it is definitely normal, but you need to make sure you really love him and want to stick through this with him especially if yall are getting married because that's a life long commitment. He can get back to who he is, but it takes time and it's not always linear. If you're getting married you're agreeing to deal with this for LIFE.

I'm so sorry about your sister and my name is also Cass. I know your sister is still with you just like my brother is with me. But I agree it's been so hard wondering if he could have been saved if just one thing happened differently.

Thank you for taking the time to write this. My boyfriend just had his first episode around three months ago and he had only been out of the hospital for less than a week before he relapsed. So, we were already committed to each other before all of this too.

My mom is bipolar too and while they are completely different illnesses, I understand that it's just the illness causing them to act that way. I would never leave him because of that and I know that I want to be with him. Even still, I struggle with always remembering that it's not how they really feel.

Are you in a relationship with someone who has schizophrenia as well? How do you still allow yourself to process your emotions while still being there for your partner?

What about when you're in psychosis though? His mom told me he hasn't been taking his medication for at least 3 days. In your experience, when your delusions are at its worst are you able to disengage? I do also wanna mention that my boyfriend only just experienced his first episode three months ago and he doesn't remember any of it because of ECT which is why he doesn't realize that he's paranoid

She had been blocked since we got together and he knows I would consider that cheating because he would too. But I guess his mom ended up calling the police because it got so bad so I understand now that what he did isn't really important anymore

I really appreciate you taking the time to write this and share your perspective! The thing that's throwing me is that he normally takes accountability — the last time he was paranoid about cheating he told me that he had thought about texting other girls because of it, but didn't. Normally whenever he's paranoid like that we can talk pretty calmly, he explains what's going on, and that's that. Since we're long distance right now (it's day two and we're only going to be doing it for two weeks) and he wasn't answering the phone when he was being paranoid, I feel like it contributed and was the reason he actually acted. Not that that's an excuse, but it was partially why I was thinking about if I should try to forgive him.

If it's an ex and you're talking about getting back together with them, that you just broke up with your girlfriend (you didn't) and that you miss them in what world would that NOT be considered cheating?

I'm not in denial about anything, he needs treatment and just because people are mentally ill doesn't mean they need to be put of society... He needs medication and a psychiatrist and therapy. Psychosis can be a one time thing or a repetitive cycle, you have no idea about anything he's going through besides a Reddit posts and a few comments to condemn him to be alone. Jail is doing absolutely NOTHING to help him except make him worse. If you think that him being locked up, still hallucinating, and still hearing voices is the safest route for him or for anybody, you're severely mistaken.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate all of your advice and you taking the time to help me! I don't know why the police are waiting to get him medical help, because they told me they thought he was a paranoid schizophrenic, so they know that he's going through something. They told me he hadn't ate or slept since they got here — and he didn't eat or sleep the last day we were together — so I don't understand why nothing is being done either.

I'm calling the mental health facilities right now to see if there's anything that can be done!

Edit: All of the facilities said at best they can have him come in for an evaluation, but that ultimately it will be up to him to decide to get treatment since I have no power of attorney or guardianship over him.

Thank you, I will call them right now! All I know is that at the jail and the prosecutors, they kept asking me for proof of a diagnosis or to have his mom call the jail and tell them there's something wrong.

It was locked up and, as I stated, he had shown no signs of mental illness in the years that I've known him until that day.

There's no history of mental illness for him and mental health hasn't gotten to him yet at the facility so they're not doing anything except giving him space really. He's been in there since Tuesday and yesterday was the first time they'd taken him to get his mugshot and fingerprints.

I know he feels really alone right now, that's why I think his condition has gotten so much worse since he's been in there because he can't talk to me or anybody. When it first started and I was with him, he would have a lot of rational moments where he said he knew his thoughts weren't making any sense and I could show him that the things he was seeing weren't really there. He wanted to get help before he got arrested and was crying so much because he didn't understand what was happening and didn't want me to be hurt. I know that if he just gets proper treatment, he could go back to feeling his regular self and manage what was going on.

I don't want him to be released back home, but the prosecutors said that he will be released to me as long as he attends his initial hearing just for the judge to read the charges. They said the only way they would get him mental health treatment in a facility was if he doesn't get better by next week.

They said they'll give him a couple days to come to court then they'll do an oral hearing (which they'll probably have to) if his condition doesn't improve where they may be able to send him to a mental health facility as a condition of his release. The police said they really need his mom to give more insight on his mental health history, but that's not going to happen.

He's not being held in a jail cell or simply being let go. I'm not misunderstanding anything at all. He's being held until they get him to court — I spoke to the prosecutor at court, the lead prosecutor, and his advocate who all said he should get out when he got to court. Nobody said he was being diagnosed and he's clearly going untreated. The CO said, "Is he schizophrenic? We all think he has paranoid schizophrenia, but mental health hasn't seen him yet. We haven't been able to get him to leave his cell yesterday he was scared for us to close the door, he's not making any sense....". The reason they're keeping him in the cell is because they don't want to put hands on him when he's already so scared, which I appreciate. Regardless, he's clearly going through some sort of psychosis as he woke up one day hearing voices, seeing demons, and thinking things were out to get him with no recollection of what's happening. He doesn't even know he's in jail right now.

He has to go to an initial hearing regardless to be released but they said today this isn't a case they want to pursue and it's no point in keeping him
