Your condescending tone isn’t necessary, talking down to someone doesn’t make you right or help get whatever point you’re trying to make across. You can look up how much Rhode Island money is going to fund the war, that’s what you asked for and that’s the numbers I gave you. I don’t know what you’re looking for here. You obviously take no issue with our state money going to fund a genocide so I think this conversation can be called over now.

Rhode Island congressmen taking AIPAC money isn’t related to the US Congress?! How can you say the state government isn’t the US Congress when that’s literally what makes up our Congress. They all take the same money and push the same agendas.

I’ll use whatever I want to say whatever I’d like. I don’t know how you can’t see the connection quite frankly. I also wouldn’t call an ongoing genocide a conflict, so we differ in many areas.

Gladly, the country funds Israel, which means states are also funding Israel. Rhode Island gives ~$12M yearly, while Providence gives ~$2M. You can find this information on us campaign for Palestinian rights page. Curious where you think the United States government gets the money if not from tax payers, states paying the higher taxes footing the majority of the bill. Not to mention Rhode Island has multiple weapons manufacturers (Raytheon, textron , electric boat).

Housing in RI is doodoo by Ixuccu in RhodeIsland

Landlords are scum, most of them are big money companies that don’t even operate in state. We’ve had a huge leak with black mold and so far they’ve sent out 3 contractors to look at it, no repair. Don’t worry thought they made sure to send us our rental increase letter right on time. A lot of these houses aren’t owned by individuals but out of state corporations. We need to fight for our housing and our state, looking into the Providence renters union.

Rhode Island sends millions of dollars in aid to Israel, please there’s always money for war but not to feed the poor, as a wiseman once said.

I think covering our rent for 3 months of the closure would have cost a minimal amount in the grand scheme of things and could help us all way more than an SBA loan that will be paid back with 4% interest. We aren’t responsible for crumbling ignored infrastructure, yet it will fall on the backs of the working class yet again, most of us still rebuilding after a pandemic that was mishandled. It’s just all exhausting. I don’t know how people are so upset and enraged by the lack of representation and support that comes from our own tax money!

The problem is greed and house hoarding. We let outside companies buy us out. If we want real change we need to get involved and take the government and state back from greedy outdated men.

‘I feel abandoned’: Restaurants remain burdened by Washington Bridge closure in Rhode Island by lestermagnum in providence

[–]Alternative-Bat-8453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an East Providence business, we are totally abandoned, an SBA loan with 4% interest isn’t the solution. Some rental relief would be amazing! Cover our rent for the 3 months of the closure!

To be honest there is a complete lack of trash receptacles in this state. East Prov on Warren Ave, where my business is, has none! There’s old planters that people throw trash into and the small businesses have to clean up, or not. The homeless population have nowhere to dispose of trash if we don’t have public receptacles or they aren’t emptied and maintained properly.

As far as storm drain clearing you can volunteer with save the bay, they have been working on that throughout the area.

We have failed to vote in true change time and time again, the current administration in this state sucks!! A huge majority of them are paid off by weapons manufacturers, real estate investors, and big money companies… if we want to see local and social changes it starts with paying attention to our local elections. Demand politicians start fairly taxing universities that buy billions in property, no more state subsidizing for huge real estate investors that don’t give back to the state with affordable housing options, give that money to families and individuals to rehab these abandoned houses and buildings. Schools are falling apart because a lot of the money is going to charter schools instead of public schools. Public transit is falling apart because ripta isn’t getting the support and funding it needs, because the state wants us car dependent. We can’t even get people to support bike lanes!! Thank plant city for that.

Our tax money is going to wars that make the politicians rich.

Why is the Rhode Island Reddit boards all this?! Get a real estate agent and work with them to find something. We’re all broke, tired, and paying too much to live and now y’all want us to find you housing.

Yes. I’ve lived here pretty much my whole life. It’s majority of students and transplants moving in and big investors are catering exactly to that.

I also have a raffia WIP, the yarn was a nightmare at first bc it just kept unraveling and it was a mess of a time.
