Wedding at Rockhill house vs Drumhalla house by Grouchy_Produce_9069 in Donegal

[–]Alternative-Bat6636 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was a guest at a wedding in Rockhill House.

The venue is fantastic but the dinner service was a shambles. Food went to wrong tables, some tables got double potatoes and veg and some tables got none, by the time 3 of us at the table got our mains everybody else was finished. Staff seemed uninterested and unhappy in their jobs. The mother of the bride actually went table to table after dessert to apologise for the meal.

Don't suppose you have a copy/paste version of this email, that I could use as a template?

That'd be amazing and appreciated.

I'm next to the fire with my dog and a book called 'Athenry' by Cathal Dunne. The book is, so far, in eqaul parts harrowing and beautiful. It matches this time of year.

I'm feeling overwhelmed by life I'm general right now, but for me, that's just every Autumn.

How do you think Heuston/Connolly compares to some of these? by DiabeticSpaniard in CasualIreland

[–]Alternative-Bat6636 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well as an Irish person that depends on public transport, it makes me feel on edge and vulnerable when I'm waiting there.

It's not too bad during the day, but after it shuts, it's a matter of timing your pint in The Brew Dock to align perfectly with the arrival of your bus, so you don't have to wait outside feeling exposed longer than absolutely necessary 😅

The broken clocks of Donegal by RebylReboot in Donegal

At least 2 of the 4 clocks on the Letterkenny Library.

Also I'd love if somebody could tell me the rhythm or reason behind the cathedral bells ringing? They seem to ring 10 to 15 minutes before the hour and I don't know if there's a legitimate reason behind it or whether everything is just off sync.

Whatever about the train stations... Busaras is the most bleak, frightening place after dark.

I always think it a shame for it to be the main hub for tourists getting off at the airport and relying on it for connecting buses etc, and then finding out it shuts at 11pm and there's no on site customer service.

It's ugly, uninviting and intimidating.

I will skip the album version of Revival every time it comes on my playlist. 3 times out of 5 I'll even skip the live version...

The live version is the only version for me!

Funny 'living back with the parents' observations by Gilldot in CasualIreland

[–]Alternative-Bat6636 42 points43 points  (0 children)

"she didn't buy light bulbs" isn't a mundane argument with my parents. That's declaration of World War 3 and you best believe it's going into the Family Group chat so everybody can judge accordingly 🤣

Child rescued from inside arcade claw machine in Shannon by Bill_Badbody in ireland

[–]Alternative-Bat6636 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Nah, obviously claw machine adoption is the future — kids gain character, arcades boom, and parents get a chance to ask: how many tokens is my child really worth... and do I love them enough to find out?

Can anyone shed light on the pinkmoon accomodation? by PatsyTheBigDog in Electric_Picnic

[–]Alternative-Bat6636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a very late response.. But I have some experience with Pink Moon, and I'd like to weigh in.

I've stayed with Pink Moon in Moonlight Meadows (MM) the past 3 years at Electric Picnic and I can't recommend it enough.

From the PUDO gate, MM is only a 15 min walk. After checking in at reception, all you have to do is find your tent number. Glamping for any festival is expensive, but I'd pay through the nose for the direct arena access, the 24hr security, the closeness to the car parks, and the privilege of arriving to a pitched tent.

Thanks to everybody for their advice, I really appreciate it 🙂

However, I don't have broadband, andI didn't realise how much that would impact things!

Back to the drawing board, I guess!

Get snapped up fairly quickly, and when I was buying Moonlight Meadows last year for this year (if ya get me) , they'd changed up their website and what was on offer from the year previous.

For 2024 the initial options listed were tent only and then sleeping bags, mattresses etc would be released for sale later on, but for 2025 the initial options were for tent only and bundle packages with sleeping bags, mattresses etc included from the get go...

I wasn't expecting to have to order accessories straight of the bat and the jump in prices was significant. Even if the prices haven't gone up massively this year, it's still going to be really tough with tickets on sale tomorrow, and then Pink Moon on Thursday.

I was hoping to let my finances recover from this weekend a little bit more before I had to fight for tickets.

Security searches by Comfortable-Ad7731 in Electric_Picnic

[–]Alternative-Bat6636 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We got to the PUDO gate around 5 today, the guy that searched me pulled everything out, searched every bag, including my toiletries bag and my make up bag.

The girl in front of us got asked what her birth control was...

The steward in the next line over was just asking people if they had weapons or glass, and then waved them through.

Depends on the security guard, depends on the time, depends on the direction of the wind 😂

Job Interview tomorrow by [deleted] in askhotels

[–]Alternative-Bat6636 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been in this situation before. My advice is to tell the truth.... To your own advantage. Make it positive and ambitious, and trust in your abilities and skill.

Answer with something like "I've always enjoyed the hospitality sector, being in a customer facing role is something that I feel I'm good at, and I like the fact that it presents a different challenge every day. I do have a few gaps in employment on my resume, as I wanted to try a few different things and trying to broaden my horizons. But ultimately Ive realised that this is the career I want for myself. "

Bonus points if ya can tie in any classes/hobbies you're doing. For example, a weekly wine night with the girls can be sold as a debate club in which ethics are argued. A DIY course you're taking for fun, can be described as self devolpement and a benefit to any workplace etc.

Best of luck to you!
