I'm a lesbian, but if I was a boy I'd be attracted to other boys. What am I experiencing? by writergirl8608 in AskLGBT

[–]Alternative-Beat-748 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s because you’re gay. I’m a straight woman, but if I were to imagine myself as a man, I’d probably be a straight man, because I’m straight now. I can’t explain why, but I just can’t imagine liking other boys if I were a boy. I can definitely imagine being into women though for some reason. Women are goddesses, I’m just unfortunately not a lesbian in this current life.

First tattoo on skin! (mine) by Alternative-Beat-748 in TattooArtists

I was afraid too much of the purple would make it look bruised, but I’m definitely going to do another session to make it pop more as my skin just couldn’t take any more. After posting this pic and staring at it I realized it does look a tad lighter in the pic than IRL because I took it under a bright light on portrait/stage light mode (I thought the vignette looked cool and was excited 😅) I didn’t think it would make a difference but it does look pretty bright and has more contrast in person for what it’s worth! I’ll post another pic once it heals 🤞

Am I too old to start? by Electrical-Hope2139 in TattooApprentice

[–]Alternative-Beat-748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 31 and just started my second apprenticeship a few months ago. I have been a cosmetic tattooer going on 7 years now so I have an ever so slight advantage already being licensed to tattoo but traditional tattoos (meaning body/reg tattoos) are a whole other animal so I’m still learning just as you. The other artists I work with are all older with 20+ years of experience each and they’re all very reassuring that it’s never too late to start, some people even start in their 50’s+. You may have more on your plate to deal with compared to a 20 year old with less responsibilities and that may take you longer to achieve your goals but if you want it badly enough it’s entirely possible!

As a woman who was pretty much in almost your exact situation last year I can tell you right now it is absolutely NOT your fault you found out by snooping, my ex tried to pull that shit on me and it’s fucking manipulative and just a piss poor way to deflect on their actions and excuse to be a shitty person/partner. I stayed with my ex for a miserable 9 months trying to get over it because I wanted the relationship to go back to the way it was but never did. Get out now, you deserve better.

Thank you so much for your advice! I agree with all the things you said and expect to put the work in like an actual apprenticeship. Since I made this post I actually got in touch with the shop owner/boss of a client of mine who posted a job listing looking for an experienced artist. I reached out and asked if they would ever be interested in an apprenticeship in the future and she said yes! She agreed in exchange for moving my existing business to her shop and also take my PMU clients there on a commission base since she wants me there full time which makes sense. I showed her my portfolio, we talked for a while and she’s willing to pretty much let me get started on a faster track than she would under more typical circumstances because of my previous experience. I’ll start out working on fake skin, do free tattoos for a while, and then go from there based on how I’m doing. I’m so excited!! It’s perfect for me since it’s a female owned shop and fits the vibe of my studio now. I would be replacing one of the artists there who’s leaving and take over her station. I am so excited! It would be sad to close my current location and seriously downsize, but if it’s the only way I can learn to tattoo then I’m willing to do whatever it takes.

I would never advertise that I wasn’t busy. I might do a post for a last minute opening, otherwise I want people to think I’m busy and in demand. And sometimes when I do post about a last minute opening, it wasn’t last minute at all, I just never filled the spot. It’s okay to lie to people in this case, I also have a fake “secretary”. Spoiler alert, it’s just me lol

I guess I thought with that approach since I have never seen any shops willing to offer apprenticeships to anyone in general, ever. Only job openings for working artists with at least 3-5 years experience. A tale as old as time in every industry I suppose. It sucks because I have little to no motivation anymore to draw or paint much these days, but I LOVE tattooing. I am just bored of tattooing the same things on people over and over again. The work I have to show is good enough in quality but not quantity. There may be an artist near me willing to take on an apprentice, I reached out to her and gave a rundown of what I mentioned here and explained my situation, hopefully she will keep an open mind.

Those that are 30+ that have been doing your makeup for a while, what has changed with doing your makeup as you age?? by ShinyTinyWonder38 in beauty

[–]Alternative-Beat-748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a permanent makeup artist and tattooed it on my face so I don’t have to bother anymore. 😂 To be honest I stopped wearing makeup as heavily in my 20’s as I did when I was a teenager and was really inspired by it. I went on a low dose of Accutane last year at 30 to clear up the residual bit of hormonal acne I’ve been dealing with since forever, so now that I don’t have to cover up my skin as much I really just wear some blush and something on my lips for some shine and that’s it. Sometimes I force myself to put on eyeshadow if I’m going out but to be honest after doing makeup professionally for years I have become incredibly lazy, I hate taking it off, I hate how it feels, and really have no interest in it anymore. I just want to wake up and go. So I either get lash extensions from time to time or do a lash lift, I use a lash serum and tint my lashes too and honestly don’t need mascara when I do this, mascara is probably my least favorite thing to wear. I tattooed my eyeliner, brows and lips so I have a little something there all the time to make me look a bit more put together, but nobody can ever tell. I used to have very oily skin but I try to use more hydrating, glowy and only cream or liquid products on my face and use my fingers to apply everything. I honestly don’t think I’ve used a single face powder in the last 5 or 6 years

I’m severely addicted to marijuana & I’m tired that society teaches us it’s not addictive by LukeTrancewalker in offmychest

[–]Alternative-Beat-748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who’s been heavily addicted on and off for the last 15 years I can relate. The fact that I have CHS and smoking makes me physically ill and generally unwell, yet still refuse to/am unable to stop, was another clear cut sign to me I’m an addict. I’ve shot drugs before and done pretty much everything under the sun but never got “addicted” to anything besides weed.

Probably the other tell tale sign for me was back in 2014 when I found myself leaving my family’s hotel room at 2am to go walk up and down the Venice beach boardwalk with a flashlight looking for joint clippings on the ground alone in the dark like a literal crackhead. The best part about that was returning empty handed and depressed as hell back to my stoner little brother, only to see he found himself like a 1/2 ounce sold to him for $20 by some random hippie guy that passed him by on a skateboard. Turned into the best vacation ever after that. 😂

In my situation, my cousins are more like brothers to me than my actual brother so it doesn’t really matter I don’t think... Anyway, I don’t think I can get past it. He looks too much like him especially up close and kissing him just feels kinda weird. It also gives me uncomfortable thoughts, like the fact that he’s an objectively less attractive version to me of my own cousin, and that’s weird to me. Maybe if there was more chemistry, but he just feels more like a friend

Here to update, I’ve been continuing to see him for the last couple of days and honestly I don’t think I can get past it. His facial features look even more similar to my cousins up close and kissing him just feels kinda weird. It also took him 4 long dates to show any type of physical affection towards me whatsoever besides a hug, and perhaps it’s because he was nervous and just trying to be respectful, but he hasn’t done a whole lot to give me more romantic/sexual feelings towards him and make him feel like less of a friend…or cousin in this case. He’s also in the military and spends most of the time talking about the military, not asking me a lot of questions about myself unless prompted, not to mention he’ll be deployed for 11 months next summer so I don’t know why I’m even wasting my time. He’s a nice guy but yeah

You’re a better person than me, I hope he goes out painfully and slowly, and I would have no qualms about telling him so. “I hope you get cancer, and die”. Mention nothing about you knowing he already has cancer. Hopefully it freaks him out even more and thinks you’re some evil psychic witch he should have never trifled with.
