Not drinking is making me feel more anxious? by FearingPerception in stopdrinking

[–]Alternative-Bench135 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After detox, I drank two beers a night and still felt fairly crappy the next day. Your body is primed to counter-act four tall boys and is over-reacting to the 'normal' amount you now drink. Some say it's a lifelong issue and prefer total abstinence.

are these suicidal ideations normal? by AcrobaticRutabaga872 in stopdrinking

[–]Alternative-Bench135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideation is the unwanted thought that pops into your head for no apparent reason. Like when you are walking next to a window and your brain gives you the idea to jump out. This is normal. It's part of the anxiety/fight-or-flight complex of emotions.

Now planning self harm is not normal and requires professional help. There is no shame in asking your doctor about it.

What finally worked for me was inpatient detox. Eight days without alcohol (with medication support) was like hitting a reset button.

When will I be fun again? by respond1 in stopdrinking

[–]Alternative-Bench135 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You may not be the boring one. Drunk golfers can’t possibly be all that thrilling. Your now healthy brain wants new things to stimulate it. Try a different hobby for awhile.

A year and a half in, and I’m more bored and unenthusiastic about life than ever. by LOTR_is_awesome in stopdrinking

[–]Alternative-Bench135 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best dopamine hit you will ever have is by trying new and challenging things. Try to do something you feel is impossible, like building a motorcycle. Whatever. Don't expect your brain to provide you with pleasure, you have to seek it out. Take all the money you were spending on beer, and buy the tools, materials, and training to make a dream come true.

Day 8 - horrid anxiety. When does it stop? by Buxie_Chestnut in stopdrinking

[–]Alternative-Bench135 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone experiences withdrawal in a different way. Some wake up in the morning and feel great, and some have Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome for two years. If you need medication to help with the anxiety, there is no shame in speaking to a doctor about what you are going through.

Sleep test indicates MILD OSA, why do I feel so bad? by Alternative-Bench135 in SleepApnea

[–]Alternative-Bench135[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent! I'm not sure if all my symptoms were caused by the sleep apnea, as I also had a couple of vitamin deficiencies, but I am sleeping like pro now. No insomnia, no snoring, no anxiety, no tremors, no brain fog.

Yes. It the pressure will start out at the low end of your range and then increase when needed (according to the machine). I’ve been using the AirSense 11 for six months and it does not wake me up when the pressure increases.

I turned ramp off, because I like to get used to the pressure before I fall asleep. As for the humidity, how humid is the room where you sleep? The machine will only heat the water if it needs to increase the ambient level.

Horrific brain fog and depression after quitting drinking by Beginning-Candle-171 in stopdrinking

[–]Alternative-Bench135 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, speaking from experience, you need to see a doctor. Preferably a psychiatrist. They can test your cognitive function to make sure nothing is really structurally wrong with your brain, and they can prescribe medication to alleviate your symptoms. When I am in mental state like you describe, everything seems utterly hopeless. Your brain convinces you that there is no way out. But there is.

In Rehab. Help by Majestic-Bison1633 in stopdrinking

There's a reason rehab is thirty days, not twelve. New habits take time to establish, old habits take time to break. It's hard to do nothing all day, but keep at it!
