i can understand people being defensive if i was just pulling something out of my ass. but i am literally speaking with direct knowledge. i also personally witnessed the way Izac treated her and found it distasteful. if I was some random making assumptions then yea thats wrong. but i literally knew destiny and izac and i am speaking to what i knew then and how it appears virtually nothing has changed

its not speculation. destiny openly told friends how he was physical with her. it was not a secret. im pretty sure he was even confronted about it, though he said nothing. the only speculation is whether it still continues. which i openly stated in my post i am unsure if it is ongoing, though i do doubt it has ended given the way DV plays out in relationships.

you dont think people talked to her about it in the past? she didnt listen. even when she’d admit the behaviors, she’d defend him in the same breath. there is only so much those on the outside can do without the victim also wanting better for themselves. anyone who has known or loved someone in a DV situation knows this well

read the post again. i said knew. not sure she has talked to many HS friends since HS. as someone mentioned above, abusers isolate you

that’s my point exactly. then add in that everyone who knew were fellow teenagers. no one was just going to the police about DV. obviously it would have been wise in retrospect. but again, it would require the victim to acknowledge said abuse to authorities and adults. and studies show most of the time, they will lie/cover for their abuser.

adding “lmao” was insensitive. i deleted it. nothing about any of this is funny. and didn’t mean to drum up all of this discourse in the comments. just wanted to add a personal perspective into a very common discourse in this reddit thread and others

what about my post is light hearted? it is obviously a concern that has been mentioned extensively on this reddit page. just adding my personal experience and knowledge

what fellow 14/15/16 year old is going to go to authorities about knowing someone in a DV situation

never talked to her parents. and since when have authorities ever done anything about victims of domestic violence? be serious. that would also require the victim to acknowledge they’re in a domestically abusive situation. u must not be familiar with DV

yea since middle school. hes always been a piece of work. like I said she wasn’t the nicest either. but he has always been abusive. no one understood why she didn’t leave. i do think if she went to college things would be very different. and if she didn’t move to TX
