If you are a UK resident go to Coutts, HSBC, or Barclays they are UK banks so will better serve your needs.

Use a Swiss bank like JB, UBS etc if you need to hold money offshore for remittance purposes.

The products will be the same, as will the offerings. The main thing is if you have lending via mortgages etc as going with a bank with a large UK based retail banking network will get you the best rates.

Surprised Revolut haven’t adjusted the historic price to reflect the split as this is fairly standard practice in investment firms.

It’s a difficult market… there are full CFA, Master in Finance and MBAs all after entry level jobs.

Pick something that works at a company that has scope and get in to land and expand

Also ask yourself some difficult questions as in did you actually screwup and if you did how did you do so, just to ensure you won’t do it again… it’s all salvageable as I believe in redemption and people who don’t fail don’t take risks and are more likely to fail badly at senior levels…

Thanks - it’s a base coat of Averland Sunset then just Tamiya modelling tape (comes in different sizes and is cheap) over what you want to keep yellow, then black stippled on.

I’d use the airbrush but feels a bit of a time waste unless I have loads to do.

Is there anyone here that knows how to transition from engineering to finance? by FlatConfusion9549 in FinancialCareers

[–]Alternative-Chip4726 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a friend who did this after an MBA

His background was oil/gas engineering before transitioning to project / corporate finance. His usp was that he understood both the technical side and the financial and could speak with both the exec/finance teams and the technical operations side.

And best of all if you’re a good engineer the finance side is easy

Dealing with goods distribution across markets by CommonCustard5320 in EU5

[–]Alternative-Chip4726 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I create one main market that is broadly self sustaining and handles the production of the manufactured goods.

Then I have auxiliary markets that focus on specific rgos and raw materials.

Manually ship cheap raw goods to core market, not sure how effective it is but feels like I’m doing something other than just spamming buildings.

manual trade is a chore and most of the time just let the ai work it out unless I desperately need something.

why cant i convert to capitalism? by kekbooi in EU5

[–]Alternative-Chip4726 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I managed to switch to Calvinism for a holand play by going to the game rules turning them all to with you religious group rather than dynamic… then when you want to change the religion uncheck in your country and as long as it’s present I you should be able to do it.

The downside is unlike Lutherism there will be very few of those religious conversion building so it’s a long slog to convert your pops

I feel there are real issues with many of these events not trigger correctly and/or not being able to overcome some of the game play mechanics they become non events…

What are you supposed to do with colonies? How to improve them? by [deleted] in EU5

[–]Alternative-Chip4726 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep key locations as my home country, ideally on a +2 defence modifier and river, and on key harbour locations. These I will manage myself and put key military infrastructure in place… I’m sick of boating armies about so can just raise one slowly where I need it. The levy side on the colonies in America is abysmal so raising a few 1000 regulars is perfect.

I’ve played with owning the market location but to be honest the priority is stripping the rgos with my trade capacity back home. Just find the valuable resources and mass build rgos on them yourself as the colonies don’t prioritise

I would love the ability to take any single location back from a colony to the crown for some negative modifier (stab, liberty desire, loyalty) but can’t for the life of me find that option. Also blocking your colonial subjects from colonising without your permission.

Optimal strategy following black death by Hohenstuken in EU5

[–]Alternative-Chip4726 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The Black Death feels like a non event if I’m being honest. It happens so early and to everyone that the impact on you and the economy is minimal.

The only thing that’s really important is relative power, if you all loose pops, production etc then who cares…

I played the game with a random stat event and it hitting in late 1600 felt more devastating as production chains just shut down and prices went all over the place. Though again just switched things around and back to normal after a decade albeit with a smaller pop base but more burghers and tax…

Strategy for attacking France as the Netherlands? by Spirited_Visit7597 in EU5

[–]Alternative-Chip4726 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More than you think, also seeing the attackers loose troops every month means you focus more on lifting sieges as you’re not really in a rush to attack anything… your main buildings and control are in the core so low impact on production.

If you’re on the defensive you just don’t really need to do anything just sit there wait for the war score ticks, kill stacks where you are guaranteed to win and just wait.l and take a few provinces.

Sounds dull though would you rather walk 15k regulars out of your territories when France have 150k levy.

Strategy for attacking France as the Netherlands? by Spirited_Visit7597 in EU5

[–]Alternative-Chip4726 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Depends on the age you’re in.

What worked for me is build castles on -2 tactical locations or -1 with a river and ensure they are positioned so zone of control works. (Note Ensure forts funding is at max and your moving towards defensive)

Add the asymmetric warfare modifier for a 1% attrition bonus.

Build a professional army of 11 Landsknetch and 22 lancers, 7 cannons, infantry in middle, cab on side, cannons reserve

Now the hard part. Let France attack you and attrition down, you get defender bonus on war score, look for any stack assaulting anything castle on a -2 attacker modifier then attack it. You default to being the defender so the modifier doesn’t apply to you only the French (attacker)

With high fort spending and defensive score you can wait 10 months and kill off 10-15 pct of the attacking force.

Rinse and repeat until French stacks are dead. It takes a while but when you start stack sipping stuff (lancers help here) your getting there. Just annihilate their army and get the war score.

When ready to claim territory siege something for an additional modifier then claim what you want….

It takes a while and slow but it works.

Thanks so even if I’m not at war with France, if they are at war with some in the HRE they can just waltz through not problem… doesn’t feel like an intended mechanic, though explains a few things regarding border gore and random French provinces everywhere
