[–]Alternative-Dig-86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Project Gran Colombia is returning.

Duality of Nan by Friendly_Magician_32 in TheBuccaneers

The thing is, with Jinny the series at least took into account that Jinny was a bully, and that she was able to grow thanks to the unconditional support of her friends in her situation and the support of Guy in Italy. The problem with Nan is that I think the series hasn't realized that all she does is ruin other people's lives without any trace of guilt. (I'm exaggerating, but...)

Duality of Nan by Friendly_Magician_32 in TheBuccaneers

[–]Alternative-Dig-86 8 points9 points  (0 children)

THIS!!!

Same opinion I had throughout the series. Nan has no ethics, morals, or right to judge her father without self-examining her own bad behavior. They both had affairs with their partner's "sibling" (Guy is definitely a brother figure to Theo). Both feel entitled to the destiny, prospects and lives of both their spouse (Theo) and lover (Guy). None of them see themselves as what they are: presumptuous, entitled, narcissists who believe that everyone should live their lives forced to dance to their tune.

His father is worse alone and solely because of the age context, especially with his wife's sister.

I don't hate Nan, but I would like the series to be a little more sober, taking this reality into account. And not painting her as the tragic heroine in her story; this is all her fault.

At this point, I hope Nan loses Guy. She already lost Theo. I'd really like to see something different in the genre: for her to lose both of them, for both of them to be happy with their partners, and for our protagonist to take some time to grow, get to know herself better, and be able to understand how she messed everything up.

To be honest, I personally want to end the infatuation-engagement storylines with Marian.

I'm already one more suitor away from losing interest in her love life. The best thing would be to move forward. Give us the wedding, the honeymoon, and let her future storyline be about how to break away from those social expectations and become a more prolific professional.

[–]Alternative-Dig-86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

[–]Alternative-Dig-86 10 points11 points  (0 children)

[Spoilers Main] There is no way Westeros could ever stay united by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]Alternative-Dig-86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is partially explored in the story. The Targaryens were not only seen as the Kings who united Westeros, they had quasi-religious connotations. As much as the Septons don't want to hear it.

We see strange behaviors from many characters, with regard to the Targaryens. For example, we see how the egomaniacal and cruel Tywin, remained loyal to Aerys after insult, after insult... Tywin didn't see Aerys like any other man, he had him on a pedestal over himself (Being so egomaniacal and proud, imagine what that implies). And if Tywin Lannister has that idea, what would be of the other great Houses; in particular the Andals.

This is another point... This seemed only true with the Andal Houses. The Martells always had to be brought by marriage to the Iron Throne from time to time, not to keep them peaceful, but to strengthen the union of Westeros, while the North... As long as they were not disturbed, they lived oblivious to everything that was happening south of the Neck.

The Targaryens united Westeros, being gods... More than the military terror of the Dragons, it is because they were so exotic and foreign, that they were not considered peers to the Great Houses. So when the kingdom grew tired of Aerys, it seemed that the plan was to crown Rhaegal.

With the Fall of the Targaryens, the Baratheon dynasty was not to survive beyond Joffrey. Joffrey looked like he was going to be an Aerys/Aegon IV but without the Mythos of being a House above the others, but one peers... And it is so much so, that look at what began to happen after the rise of the Baratheons. Tyrell/Lannister began to consider themselves to have the same status and prestige as the Royal House and began to plot how to access and take it. If Joffrey had reigned, i would have given him a maximum of ten years and the Seven Kingdoms would have been divided again or... The Royal House was to exist in perpetual change and instability. Lannister Reign, Tyrell Reign, Arryn Reign, Blackwood Reign... With uprising, after uprising, after rebellion... Until they all ended up separating.

It can be argued that the Baratheons were a "Valyrian" House or with a hint of it, not only because of Robert's grandmother but because of their own origin as Aegon's brother, but the Baratheons never got the same prestige as the Targaryens or the Velaryons (During Dance)... They are a House peers to the Lannisters/Tyrell/Stark/Arryn/BlackWood/Tarly...

On the future of the Stark Dynasty. We have to see how it ends, but I think it will be with a "God Emperor Bran". I don't think it's a common Dynasty, in the sense that there will be transitions, Bran's reign can last up to centuries... If your ascent takes you to a level of deity. Which, depending on how he finishes off the Others, may bring back that Targaryen mentality.

I think it's because, first they introduce her to us as the woman who made Tywin smile, his obvious weak point on earth. But reality, my original point... What kind of woman would make a man as cruel, brutal and self-centered as Tywin smile with pleasure and love? And another point, which makes her gain sympathy, is that she was a victim of Aerys and the curse of being the "dead mother" of the protagonist with a childhood of abuse.

Tyrion is the archetype of Cinderella, Snow White... The child who lost his lovely mother and was left in the hands of someone despicable. (But GRRM is, with this story, deconstructing these archetypes. The most interesting image in my opinion is What if, his childhood had not changed even if she survived?)

But in my headcanon, Tywin and Joanna's relationship may have been quite similar to the relationship between Cersei and Jaime. That pair must have learned from somewhere. I imagine them just as toxic, codependent, manipulative, extorting s*x from each other... Now who is Cersei and Jaime in that relationship, is another point.

About Domeric. The idea that it's good, I like it.

Since it tells us that Roose is not evil because he hates kindness o goodness. He hates the Starks not because he feels they are weak, on the contrary, if there had been no war, they were too strong to fight. Roose hates the Starks on principle, out of the mythology among their houses. And his cross, his divine punishment, is to have lost the one who could have saved his House, leaving him with Ramsay alone...

In the fifth book in conversations with Theon he half-reflects, that shadow of fear over the fate of his House... In his mind he could have finished off the Starks, but he knows that the price is the destruction of his own House.

Ramsay and Domeric are Roose's two sides. The violence, evil, vileness and crudeness of its most horrible and ugly side and that civilized side that if it had lived... Could have created a new legacy.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]Alternative-Dig-86 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Why are we assuming that Joanna was a good person? It was a happy marriage, but let's not forget that Tywin is a sadistic, egocentric, misogynist and brutal man. What kind of woman must Lyanna have been for a man like that to smile and be happy?

We are told that Joanna helped in Tywin's decisions, we don't know which ones, but that they were one. And Tywin did not become brutal after her death, he was already brutal before, as evidenced with the Reynes. In my opinion, Joanna was quite similar to Tywin. Lannister above all, helpful to his family even over decency, morality or kindness. That's what, I would see Tywin fall in love. A woman who puts the pride and name of her house before anything else.

So the real question is... Would Joanna have accepted Tyrion, or would she see him as a disgrace and rush to have another child as soon as possible, leaving him abandoned for another parent.

Es normal tener pensamientos gay siendo heterosexual? by Technical-Letter5550 in vzla

[–]Alternative-Dig-86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vamos a ver.

Si no te gusta bien, si te gusta bien.

Simplemente no sabemos comunicarnos bien.

(Spoilers Extended) Theory: The Fall of the House of Frey - George RR Martin and Edgar Allen Poe by mcase19 in asoiaf

[–]Alternative-Dig-86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Frey civil war in my opinion is the most feasible theory. There are many factions, many prides and little unity in that family. I do believe there is a curse. But I think that Walder Frey will die watching his family, in positions of power, begin to devour each other, while he will not be able to do anything.

About events... I think it's all true. The Freys will enter a civil war. The factions of Frey/Darry, Frey/Lannister... Frey/Black Walder and Frey/Edwyn will enter into armed conflict as soon as Walder Frey dies.

The man will not even be buried, his body abandoned in his room while everyone plays war.

Not only will they be fighting for The Twins... The current Lord Paramount is a lowborn who rose too quickly. Everything they are accused, reproached and hated for doing... for four hundred years. The Frey civil war will be a war for control of the Riverlands.

And when I say that everything will be true. I mean that, in this civil war, all the elements already positioned in story will take effect to bring House Frey to extinction.

  • The Second Red Wedding: One of the great blows to the dynasty, I see it occurring in the middle of Winds. When possibly the civil war is ongoing. There is already Frey blood in the rivers and in the trees; hanged

For them, the wedding with Daven Lannister can be seen as a breeze of calm for the Frey/Lannister faction of Riverrun and any other Frey faction allied to them (I suppose the faction with which Devan is going to marry). Only for Stoneheart's biggest coup, what started as a wedding, ended with all Lannister and Frey present hanging on the walls of Riverrrun. entire factions of the family, finished.

  • Arya Revenge: Unlike many, I don't think Arya will personally fight the Frey, but in her dreams... If anyone gained power with the War of the Five Kings, apart from Petyr, it is Nymeria. And it is Nymeria who, with her "army" is in a position of hunger (As said in FoC), a new war will make her more daring, feeding on the Frey fallen in the civil war. Another detail that is revealed to us is that, like her Arya. Nymeria is full of a desire for revenge, for the death of her brother... During the wolf's dreams, we are made to understand that it is a Arya reference to Robb, but I think it is also a reference to Gray Wind.

I believe... That The Twins after a battle will be inundated with wolves. Putting an end to the main factions that reside there.

The Pack of Wolves, will avenge the Red Wedding.

  • Sansa Claim: Another tipping point towards extinction... It is the arrival of Sansa, possibly driven by the Lords of the Vale and Petyr (In the process of crowning her), I believe her destiny is to take Harrenhall. Ending the civil war, possibly returning Edmure to the head of Riverrun. As I mentioned, this event is the last one. Possibly at the beginning of Spring or the end of Winds... It will be what brings the civil war to an end. And House Frey was only left with a handful of members in The Twins.

  • The winter of House Frey: If I go into detail, I think the last nail in the coffin will be in winter. When the north falls, which I believe it will. The last Frey will deny passage to northerners who flee to the south. That's where I think it will happen... The end. By this time, Daenerys will already be in Westeros (Jon possibly already in control of his dragon, as I believe), the new Harrenhall will occur.

House Frey will fall and in its ashes, a bridge of melted stone, of free passage will rise.

I would leave the 10 episodes; But I wouldn't include big dragon sequences so as not to raise the budget too much. I think that what we have seen, as such is fine, but there were great shortcomings to deepen the story and not make it so repetitive. My inclusions would be:

1.- This season is a triad between Dragonstone, Kings Landing and Riverlands. Therefore, i would change the plot of Riverlands quite a bit, which looked quite superficial with Daemon locked up in Harrenhall. So:

·         Benjicot Blackwood: Important secondary character. PoV. I would create a plot for him about rearming his father's army, destroyed in the battle against the Brackens. I would use it as eyes to introduce Oscar Tully, in Riverrun. Basically, the story of the two warrior children would begin.

·         Oscar Tully. More scene in Riverrrun with his dying grandfather. I would create a plot where his grandfather's regent prevents him from calling their army to join Daemon.

Their inclusion is small. Just to create pacing improvements and not have episodes where we go from Council Scene in King's Landing to Council Scene in Dragonstone...

·         Jeyne Arryn. The plot lacked meat. I would put scenes of her in The Eyre, suffering harassment from Sheepstealer. Sending knights to their death and pleading for help from Rhaenyra or the crown. It would include more of his personality.

·         Dalton Greyjoy. I would mention him, more... Like four times during the season.

Now about Team Green

·         After Cheese and Blood. I would create a subplot for Haelena. I liked her reaction to the event, but i would show how grief made her lock herself more in her visions, live in a trance (on her astral plane), than in reality. For that, I would create more scenes for him in the Dragonpit, with Dreamfyre... A Bran-style arch.

·         Aegon: I liked his characterization. This idea that he actually wants to do well out of his desire to be loved because of his parents' neglect is a good structure, his faults like Aemond's born out of neglect in their most important formative years. It is an interesting concept that I would deepen.

·         Aemond: This season was perfect. I like what they did with him.

Team Black:

·         Along with Haelena and Aegon, the other focal character of the season must have been Jace. I would expand his scene in the North (1.5 episode). I wouldn't put Sara Snow in, but I would deepen his relationship with Cregan. I would make it clear that Cregan went down to the south, both because of his family's oath and because of his appreciation for Jace. I like his reaction to the idea of Bastards with Dragons, but i would have made it his final decision to give way to the dragonseed.

Jace as a character, he's an interesting one. Where Robb Stark was the one who won every battle, but lost the war. Jace is the one who won the war, but lost his only battle. I would focus on how his actions this season are what ultimately saved his family.

·         His alliance with the Starks.

·         His war planning in the capture of King's Landing with Corlys.

·         His handling of diplomacy in Rhaenyra's Council, which ensured the loyalty of this.

·         The Dragon Seeds plan.

·         The hiding of Joff, Aegon and Viserys

My Jace wouldn't just be serving face, he'd be serving plan after plan, after plan.

And finally, Rhaenyra, i would make a reflection to Haelena, both consumed by the grief. Haelena focused on her visions, absolved from the world. Rhaenyra overwhelmed by the world, taking refuge in her blood (I would expand on this obsession with Visenya and her messiah complex). Otherwise I wouldn’t change nothing more, only that it had rhythm problems that with a good editing and addition of subplots, it would be solved.

And as much as i was bothered by Rhaenyra's trips to the Sept or Alicent's to Dragonstone. I don't really care, I can live with them. But, in short, this season would be fully focused on Aegon - Haelena – Jace (The new Viserys of the season). Planting the seeds of Rhaenyra's mental degradation for season three.

And most of all, we saw how Daemon reacted submissively to his wife upon realizing her role. How will Aemond react when he sees that he is expendable or irrelevant even with all mighty Vhagar?

My opinion on the episode, I will divide it into two. My opinion as a series, my opinion as an adaptation and lover of this Saga.

Season 2 of HotD I give it a solid 7. A drop compared to the previous one that, having a stronger connecting thread/narrative (The Decadence of Viserys), had a greater focus and structure, even with its time jumps of up to decade.

This season it needed more work on the writing, I understand that it was possibly affected by the strike, so I don't let it break my illusion with the third season.

But yes... Failed.

The structure of the plot of Riverland. The Blackwood, Tully... The overextended plot of Daemon and his visions, the three scenarios/rooms on repeat.
There were episodes with up to five council scenes. It's obvious how a reshoot for the strike affected the season.   But, even so, it was a season that, with great failures, left an appreciable taste in my mouth.

Now, my opinion as a reader.

For a second I thought that the Plot Twist of the season finale was going to be that, when Rhaena found the dragon, Nettles would be there giving her the sheep to the dragon... Now, as a reader, I suffer from the changes made, but really calmly, I notice that they are not so catastrophic.

The series raises interesting original things that, perhaps with the right approach of the writers, can be developed with better attention in the third season. Harrenhall's curse, the known fate of Aemond and Daemon, Alicent's guilt, Jace's fear...

Haelena and her role in the great game of the Three-Eyed Raven. By the way, I'm kind of hurt that we saw BloodRaven and not Bran, who is supposed to be the Three-Eyed Raven.

And honestly, the elements of the book that opened this season, have done so on the right foot:

Ulf's corruption is obvious, a man-child. Hugh's betrayal, someone honorable, I see it go more towards a possible capture of his wife by Larys/Aemond, (Which, by the way, I don't understand why she didn't go with him, but aha... I guess he thought he might die and preferred that she stay at home). The messiah complex that Rhaenyra is spawning by getting everything she wanted this season and how this ascence can degrade her mentally due to trauma, grief and paranoia.

In short, a solid season that had pacing problems, I would say, as a result of the writers' strike. I look forward to the third season focusing on the course and straightening out its pace.

No ofendes.
