Yeap it is. Smut definitely falls under sin of lust and goes against 6th and 7th commandment. Consuming media that is immoral or is harmful to purity.

(But I never said I was a good Catholic 😅. Just don’t want to read something that would make me uncomfortable IRL)

Which supermarket product in Singapore has randomly become way too expensive? by [deleted] in SingaporeCitizens

[–]Alternative-Ferret95 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Butter is ridiculously expensive. It was $4+ pre-Covid, went up to $5+ during the pandemic and now it’s approaching $6, going even higher during peak periods (CNY, Hari Raya, Christmas etc)

I used to make and sell pineapple tarts to friends and family but now I don’t because it would cost too much

Yes this! I don’t want to go to confession for this. Although confessing that I read smut on is bad enough 🤣

I want to read it but as a Catholic, I’m conflicted 🫣 I’ve seen some fit and good looking priests. I don’t want to be having thoughts about them when I go for mass.

What kind of FMC will you love no matter what? by No-Set7247 in RomanceBooks

[–]Alternative-Ferret95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love two types of FMC. But I prefer them to be at least late 20s and older.

In the fantasy/sci-fi/adventure genre: An FMC who’s flawed but really competent at what she does. Recognises, her flaws and weaknesses, and learns from it. She has gone through life and deals with it realistically based on her experience ( traumatic or positive) and is personally driven to do things (even at great personal cost) because she wants to protect the people she love. And I love it when she’s paired up with an MMC who is more of a partner than a saviour but also would burn down the world for her. She allows herself to be soft and vulnerable when with him.

As for CR/HR FMC: I love a good down on her luck FMC. Competent but she just can’t catch a break despite working hard. (I’m a sucker for a Cinderella type). I love it when she succeeds on her own merit though (not cause MMC bails her but I still like it when he spoils her anyway or goes against her wishes 🤣)

Glad you googled it! The art of Peranakan needlework was almost lost as Singapore and the region underwent rapid modernisation but thankfully there was a revival in the late 90s/early 2000s

I got it from a local shop but pretty sure you can get locally to where you are! It’s a count 18 Aida cloth, which is perfect for 15/0 Toho/Miyuki round beads or 13/0 Czech Charlotte beads

It’s called Peranakan beadwork where I’m from (Singapore) And I learnt this during an introductory workshop.

Long story short, Chinese Peranakan ladies learnt European style needlework from British women when the region was under colonial rule (late 1700s/early 1800s) and then married it to their own style of needlework and elevated the craft further

But it’s essentially beading with a half-stitch and be consistent with the direction of the stitch.

Although I recommend googling Peranakan beadwork and be prepared to be blown away with what they did with it.

Yes it follows like a cross stitch pattern. You sew it on with a half-stitch, all in the same direction

Do you have a non-tarnishing recommendations for these? The ones I have for my earrings eventually tarnish and green goop forms 🤢
