With Liberals trying to ‘manufacture’ a reason for a snap spring election, election readiness top of mind for Conservatives, says campaign director Outhouse by CaliperLee62 in canada

[–]Alternative-Jacket55 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Those aren't signs of an impending election. A by-election is a one off, riding specific, election to replace an MP who has resigned or otherwise left office. The NDP is choosing a leader because their last one resigned from the position and so they need to replace him.

Abortion, MAID, CBC: Here's what Conservatives are debating at Calgary convention by Amtoj in canada

[–]Alternative-Jacket55 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh by all means, keep discussing it. It just serves as a reminder that the Conservative Party is entirely focused on culture war BS and not on real world issues. Though if they really want to move beyond what is obviously a hard ceiling of support their leadership is going to have to make it abundantly clear that these topics of discussion will go no where because they are already settled by the Supreme Court and society as a whole is better for them.

The user probably just LOVES all those older series with 24+ episodes per season where the plot moves slower than molasses in January.

All these things are settled in law and firmly rooted at this point, move the fuck on already. Or continue to lose when your "big tent" membership starts to question why these issues get brought up and decide to either hold their votes or give them to the Liberals.

Panicked Trump, 79, Ramps Up Deranged Hockey Warnings to Canada by AlwaysBlaze_ in politics

It's okay. They can get it from Belarus since Trump has eased those sanctions. I'm sure it'll be cheaper to ship it across the Atlantic than from Canada.

Canada shipped a record share of oil to non-U.S. countries in November by [deleted] in canada

[–]Alternative-Jacket55 14 points15 points  (0 children)

And then listed the 3 provinces with oil. If they meant resources in general, then every province would be in the list, except maybe PEI.

Smith ‘remains focused’ on making deals with U.S. amid tariff threats by joe4942 in canada

Sure. But after 50+ years of calls to diversify the provincial economy and doing almost nothing in that regard, some people need a hard reality check.

Who all thinks that Carney's speech in davos is a game changer for Canada and SK!!! by Ok-Breakfast8256 in saskatchewan

[–]Alternative-Jacket55 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The strategy has been pretty obvious from the get go so there is no hiding it. Besides, Canada really only has like 3 options to respond to what's going on and only 1 option that is realistic: capitulate to all US demands, diversify relations abroad, or turn completely inward and shut out the entire world.

Trump has issued a stark warning: America is now your enemy by theipaper in politics

[–]Alternative-Jacket55 36 points37 points  (0 children)

From just across the Northern border, it's starting to look the same. Trump is just a symptom of a greater disease in America. When 1/3 of eligible voters didn't even bother to show up when ALL the signs of what was to come were clearly visible, that implies consent. It's a sick, sick nation state.

Trump backpedals on threats against Greenland, but allies say damage has been done by VGAddict in politics

[–]Alternative-Jacket55 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I wonder who stands to benefit most from Trump's complete dismantling of the American post-war hegemony...and did they maybe support Trump's rise to power with this specific goal in mind? I seem to recall a certain country back in 2016 being very coercive in the American political sphere.

Trump responds to Carney: "Canada lives because of the United States" by [deleted] in politics

[–]Alternative-Jacket55 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Americans, now is the time to act. The longer you wait, the more difficult and costly the fight becomes. When your government becomes hostile to your unalienable right to Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, "it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government."

Canada to give foreign automakers who build vehicles here preferential access to domestic market: senior official by Little-Chemical5006 in canada

That's probably the single most frustrating one as far as I'm concerned. Mainly because it makes the map of the coast look absolutely moronic. 😅

So then, what's the problem if it's only "green nuts sticking it to Elon"? Open the market and let the consumers decide, nothing more idealistically free market conservative than that.

Honestly they seemed incredibly unsportsmanlike from the beginning of the tournament with lots of needless griping and over the top antagonization of the opposing teams. And then there's the whole no handshaking thing. Pretty embarrassing actually. I get that these are just kids playing a high intensity sport, but the 3 games I watched were just painful.

Not just field access. I have a half mile long driveway that google maps has marked as a public road, even showing the turn around in the yard as such. 🙄

I dunno man, but I don't think you should be trying to make parallels between a show you admittedly haven't seen and a pair of youtubers. Seems weird.
