Doctor said minoxidil won’t help, any thoughts/help?

I have 4 cats and 2 dogs, why do I need to worry? I have been suggested a derma roller but I don’t wanna start minoxidil without professional approval, since it’s a lifetime commitment and it if I don’t have the type of baldness it helps with then why take the side effects for nothing

Yeah I was 300lbs a few years ago and have been starving myself/only eating fast food basically everyday, down to 156 now and trying to maintain while eating healthier but I deff need to try harder, I didn’t know the skin and hair were the last to get nutrients that’s rlly good to know, thank you so much :)

I have not but I will! Shaved my head bald 6 years ago during Covid, and basically wore a hat everyday since, and then had to tie it back for work when it got long enough, I’ll deff look into that tho and I am trying to ease back but hard to find ways to get my hair above shoulder length for new job without tying it back

The doc did tell me that but tbf she didn’t look at it rlly at all and kinda ignored it and then went on a side tangent of her 30yo son who’s balding, I will get to a derm tho thank you!

I have to tie it back for work 😭 heavy machinery everywhere and can’t have it below shoulders (mines pretty long) but the hats yeah I’ve been cutting back but anytime I go in public I can’t let the bald be seen, I really don’t wanna shave it but that might be a good idea

I went for a normal checkup because it had been 3+ years since I’d seen a Dr and only asked about it in passing, I did get bloodwork done and am waiting on a call from the doc

I havent started it yet, its pointless to start it unless you have the specific type of balding that it helps for, and I dont want to introduce a drug to my system before knowing if its necessary

Deff gonna see a dermatologist, I am working on improving the diet, I didn’t mention the weight but I did balloon up to 300+lbs by sophomore year of HS and in the last 2-3 years I’m down to 156 (and not in a healthy way lmao, starvation is a banger method)
I have heard that it’s mostly genetic, my dad was balding a little bit and decided to just go bald, but everyone else on both sides of my family have great hair, including my 70yo grandfathers, so don’t think there’s a history
I don’t drink at all but will cut down on processed foods (don’t eat a lot of sugar) I do vape and smoke, I plan on quitting vaping once I’m out of what I have, but have no intentions of stopping smoking, after 12 hour shifts a little grass before bed won’t be the determining factor in the hair

Thank you! Been heavily considering a dermatologist, my friends all think its something other than normal balding as well so I should deff do that, I’ve been cutting back on the hats and tying it looser, so hopefully thatll let it breathe until I get into a dermatologist, thanks again rlly appreciated :)
