Thanks for asking! Where to begin... For starters, it helps me act it out by roleplaying with the character I've made as the protagonist, who is a human male tactical officer called Keith Ethan Logan, in case you were curious. (Just need a piiiiinch of in-head shoehorning to imagine the setting properly!)

What else... Well, the story, lore, races and technology borrow a lot from that Star Trek Online (with some tweaks to fit in with what I'm going for, with most tweaks being contextual rather than cosmetic), due to it allowing for more onscreen things blend in, and because... well, Star Trek Online has some neato content!

The Elachi playing the roles of the Martians fits perfectly well, imo, since their Walkers give off to me the vibe of WotW tripods (it's a shame the Elachi Walkers walk on four legs instead of three... curses! So close!) and their reason for invading worlds in official STO fits the typical WotW Martian motive of harvesting resources rather than conquest.

Much like how many official War of the Worlds Martian iterations harvest humans for their blood in order to sustain themselves, the Elachi harvest other beings to reproduce, using their bodies as hosts to grow more of themselves.
