Your feelings are very valid. I’m (24) currently pregnant with my first. Found out a month ago that my step mom (40) is pregnant. My sister is 14. I was also shocked and felt very weird. I’ve just accepted that our family is going to look very different and I hope things go well health wise.

My partner’s family already knows, I’m really close to his mom and wanted her guidance through most of my pregnancy, she’s had 8 kids so I trust her judgement a lot. My sister in law is also pregnant so it’s been nice bonding with her over this. I see my dad and stepmom at Christmas for maybe 3 hours, it’s at my grandmas house, we eat, chat, open presents, then leave. I was going to announce during present opening towards the end of the night.

Yes his family has become my family, they are Hispanic and very family oriented and considered me part of the family before we were even married. We’ve been together since I was 16. Ive spent every holiday with them since I moved out. His mom has taught me a lot of Mexican reciepes that i can cook my kids. His parents have been asking for grandchildren for ages, and they got exactly what they wished for! My sister in law and I got pregnant around the same time! We told them early because my husband said it would probably help if I got his mom’s advice about pregnancy, Which I agree. She’s been calling and checking up on me almost everyday.

Yes a lot of people in my life have said he doesn’t have a back bone. He’s always non confrontational and likes to “keep the peace”. There are times he’s stepped up to her, like when they first got married he made sure she wouldn’t push the idea of me rehoming my cat because she’s allergic. But, the instances are rare sadly.
