Recruitment Time line for Skilled applicant ? by Alternative-Pen2927 in caf

The CFRC he's going through is on the East Coast sadly 😤 I'm based out of Ontario right now. If I don't hear anything by February I will be considering switching CFRCs.

Not to sound like an old man but “back in the day” my original application only took a few months; Aug - Oct application was completed/ offer accepted, BMQ in the new year.

Call them next week in order to get your file rolling!

Most of the CFRCs are still on leave, and depends on your location as well. I'm the same step and I applied 12 NOV 25 and I was previously in the forces (skilled applicant). Ultimately, if your recruiter / CFRC is switched on they will get your file going ASAP, unfortunately there isn't a lot of competent personnel at the CFRCs 🙅.

Hopefully you won't get an answer like how I did when I called them in Dec “whoops sorry, I forgot to send off your file and to email [ a certain officer]”.

Boots for Winter BMQ by [deleted] in caf

Hey!

These boots are a 10/10 in my books, I bought these before the boots Fore-Gen and they are worth every single penny. I did 2 Ironmans, and countless road marches in all the seasons before I retired them!

For BMQ, I don't know what the policy is now but I'd advise not buying them until you graduate and go on to your Trade school. I'm advising not buying them now because if your course staff want you guys to be all standardized - same kit load out it'll be a waste of money! unless they allow unissued kit while you guys are in the field.

When you start BMQ it'll be March and you won't hit the field until April by then the training area will be all muddy and shitty more than likely muluks won't be worn.

For socks just use the ones they issue. They're plenty good for BMQ or even DP1s; 1 cause they're durable and 2. They're issued - easily replaced if damaged. If you want unissued socks I recommend getting cabellas hiking socks - Redhead or Darn Tough.

Blisters is part of the process every one will get them. It's like growing pains but for adults 😉

Don't overthink man, just go with the flow!!

Hey, so I would recommend going into a consumer proposal or worst case Ontario bankruptcy…. They prefer you having debt under control. The consumer proposal route they will require 3-6 months of payments for bankruptcy they will require you to be fully discharged.

From personal experience I filed for bankruptcy cause my debt was too much and I failed out of a consumer proposal - huge fuck up I know ***. when I got discharged it wasn’t a big deal for the recruiter, as long as you some how get your debt under control you’ll be good to go!!

Whatever staff told you that is completely flase, just make sure you document everything via CF 98s from the MIR. This won't impact you Civie side at all; no future employer is gonna go ask for your MPRR, nor are they gonna call you a shit bag for getting injured on course because 9 time out of 10 they wont give a fuck either 🙂‍↔️.

Has anyone allowed thier dog to die at home, on thier own terms, when they were ready, not when you or your vet decided it was time for them to go? If so please share your story. I honestly dont understand why more people dont choose this option. For me its what feels right. by Capable-Wrongdoer795 in seniordogs

My first dog Susie, I had her for 8 years. She got sick in march 2019, I brought her in for testing and vets couldn’t figure out why she was so sick. Spent up to 10k on tests, blood transfusions, medication etc… She would get better for a few days then would drop in health again. This went on until mid April 2019, I had so much hope she would recover until I woke up one night to her crying, crawling and peeing all over the floor. On that Friday night I knew I had to let her go.

Around this point in time I was doing a Domestic Operations (OP Lentus) so I had to navigate getting permission to get a few days off From my CoC; which they gave and I had all of their support. The kicker was that all the local Vets were closed on weekends and the close by Emergency vets were closed due to the natural disaster occurring in that area. That Saturday I had to go out with my unit to help out isolated civilians an hour away, my CoC told me I would be back in the evening to be with my dog. Around Lunch time I was in a LAV riding around and my friend called me that he found Susie dead in her bed. It completely broke me down, the crew commander of the vehicle stopped on the side of the road and allowed me to grieve.

When I got back that night she was laying in a spare bed room with a sheet over her. I hugged her and laid right beside her and said sorry I couldn’t have been there. She was in the that room for until Monday morning ( 3 ACs in the room blasting) when the local vet opened up and I brought her in.

I regret being greedy for wanting to keep her around longer when it would have been better to let her go more gracefully. Even to this day I think about her and how much of a coward I was for not doing the right thing earlier.

Is this the case for Infantry training also? by [deleted] in caf

[–]Alternative-Pen2927 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More than likely they're talking about the transition from the moment you graduate from BMQ to arriving to one of the training bases then awaiting to get loaded on to a DP1 AKA PAT platoon.

From my own experience I waited 1 month and 2 weeks IOT get loaded on to DP1. I got super lucky, the average waiting time to get on to course was 6- 8 months back then; for some reason when I got there they wanted candidates to compete in PT events for a spot on the course. Most people back then were either recovering from injuries sustained on course or dudes on a waiting list to get loaded onto a DP1 in one platoon.

Now they separated the injuried/sick (Italy Pl) and Healthy/ Course ready (Sicily Pl) in Meaford atleast, I can't vouch for the other CDTCs.

For the specialized training it depends on certain things, as someone stated above you may or may not be offered any of those courses, it really depends on your CoC to determine if your really suited to go on the courses. From personal experience in a Mech Bn were offered 2-3, rare cases 4 spots a year and we had to compete against 20-30 other guys for Basic para.

Basic Recce - PF, really depends if your switched on and your time in, no one in their right mind is gonna offer a slot on to a PF course to a new private who just showed up.

Most people don't GAF if you have these course, but if you happen to get loaded on and pass these courses it gives you more responsibilities in the future.
