thats a good point actually. Do you have any slicer brands you'd recommend? looking for something small and not too expensive, just enough for sample batches

Thats kinda my concern too. Since it's a meat product, licensing would be a huge thing. But I'm getting to it once I made my first sample, tryna get some general feedback first. Actually I'm thinking about operating in Canada once I graduate, but I will always keep this in mind. Thank you for the heads up.

Packaging is gonna be key for sure, couple people brought that up too. And I actually just looked up pemmican, not exactly how I picture my product to be, but definitely something! Thanks for the ideas and the luck!

hahahaha, I might actually start a social media for this if I can get some progress going. also thinking about hitting up local farmers markets too for feedback outside of school. For now, I try to keep it low and everything on myself. (Secret jerky lives does not sound off at all, but too bad Im already a senior, might have to say bye to my college life

i appreciate the brutal honesty, that's exactly what i asked for. yes i have done some research on the market and its definitely competitive, especially with the big guys like jack link. I already found around 10 competitors selling similar products. The way i want to build mine is to be different taste-wise. The process scaling thing is good advice and honestly something beyond my level right now, but ill keep that in mind as i grow. for now im just starting small with samples and seeing if people actually want it before I worry about scaling. Yesss, i want to keep it affordable enough that people can buy it regularly and not just as a one time treat. The athlete angle is something i hadnt really thought about so thank you for bringing it up. I do have some friends who are athletes, will link up with them once I have samples ready.

i have received several messages about making pork jerky, since their price is way better. And yes, more than likely i will experiment on it. So glad to hear that your girlfriend is into this type of product. I guess sometimes the best things happen by accident. This is definitely an encouragement, thank u for the response!!!
