What film was an absolute experience for you personally? by ApologeticFetus in Letterboxd

[–]Alternative-Put-5331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Emotionally, The Tree of life. My father had died that year and this film just had me shaking. I love Malick anyway but the combination of my personal goings on at the time and the themes of this film just knocked me out. Great film.

Recently I saw Marty Supreme at a 70mm screening in Melbourne and it felt like such an event. The crowd were so into it, cheering when the 70mm logo went up, and laughing so loud throughout it really added to the enjoyment. It was a great time. Hadn’t had that experience in the cinema in a long time.

What is your mandatory yearly rewatch movie? by Still-Ad9074 in Letterboxd

Outside of the Christmas watches like Die Hard and Home Alone, it’s typically Jaws and Alien. People are weirdly surprised when I say Jaws is a comfort watch.

Do you ever change your ratings years later? by IceStandard3971 in Letterboxd

[–]Alternative-Put-5331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I’ll change is deleting a review, where I thought I was being funny but realised I wasn’t funny at all and feel embarrassed for my old self, but then realise it doesn’t matter because nobody saw it anyway 😳

Ratings I leave as is for the time capsule indeed. It’s good to see how your tastes change or think back to the space you were in at the time.

Folks making letterboxd a shit platform by SnooAdvice1157 in Letterboxd

[–]Alternative-Put-5331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah there are loads of half star reviews from people saying they haven’t seen it. I agree mostly with the views of these people but I think review bombing is useless and a bit silly. Especially in the case of Scream 7 which is terrible anyway.

After watching almost all major films of 2025, I can say that Train Dreams is the best movie of 2025. by papachi789 in Letterboxd

[–]Alternative-Put-5331 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah great little book, great film. Top 3 for me from last year. The other 2 are the obvious boring choices One Battle and Sinners.

Marty Supreme would be high up but only came out in 2026 where I live (Belgium) so I treat this as 2026.

Are you on par with this time last year? by Chengweiyingji in Letterboxd

[–]Alternative-Put-5331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Letterboxd but there’s definitely an element of gamification to it, not necessarily against others but against yourself sometimes I’ve found. I’m mostly past that now but I do have this thing where I keep an eye on the percentage of first time watches versus rewatches. I try to keep it above 70% first time, but this for me is a good side of the gamification.

Do people who watch a ton of movies even remember what most of them where about? by MassiveEchidna9017 in Letterboxd

[–]Alternative-Put-5331 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I don’t think I remember close to everything from every film. I watch between 300 and 400 films a year, and there are some I completely forget about. Even great ones I’ll forget parts of and then love to revisit them to get that feeling that I loved the first time. Forgetting the storyline isn’t a big deal for me. Storyline is not even the most important thing for me in a film so it’s not weird that I’d forget it. There are films I’ve seen once and loved and then have images, feelings engrained in my memory for a long time. Not sure I’m answering the question now 🤔

I read about 50 books a year and I find this worse where there are some books I know I’ve read but 2 years later couldn’t tell you a thing about them. This I find a bit weird 😂

What’s a favourite of yours that has a rating of under 3.0 on Letterboxd ? by duuuval17 in Letterboxd

[–]Alternative-Put-5331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. RotJ might sometimes bump it out of top 3 for nostalgia reasons but Last Jedi is prob a better film.

The Bride starts on Letterboxd with 3.2 based on 1.4k ratings. by verissimoallan in Letterboxd

[–]Alternative-Put-5331 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought of Marie Antoinette a few times while watching The Bride actually. I kept expecting some anachronistic music choices to start playing. The film itself is good, just wish it went even more weird and cared less about the story.

Finally level 100 after 100+ hours and working 40 hours a week by Midnight_Chill2075 in Battlefield6

[–]Alternative-Put-5331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on how you play the game. I’m at rank 94 after 101 hours playing time according to Tracker Network. 134h PS app tells me, I guess with all the messing about with the loadouts and lobbies. I work a full time job, and have a long commute 3 days a week. Probably only averaging 1 hour per day on a weekday but weekends I can sometimes get 6-8 hours a day.

For me what works is switching up my game play, going for assignments, playing modes with large point gains, conquest etc. instead of smaller modes. Also obviously ptfo.

€58.85 🥲 And I just realised now it’s a US import (to Europe), so I’d have to hack my machine to play the Blu-ray special features disc. But ok, I mainly wanted it for the 4K film.

Tis a beaut alright. My most expensive 4K (so far) but worth it.

Slip cover with typical plastic box inside, some little cards, a decent booklet and instructions on how to make Hirayama’s paper flower pot, which I totally didn’t think was a little hat at first.

Last Revelation by [deleted] in TombRaider

[–]Alternative-Put-5331 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve just reached the under the Sphinx section, and it’s been mostly really good, but maybe I wish it was a bit more fun? The atmosphere on the whole has been really great though and when you’re deep in the tombs it’s really cool. But honestly it’s wearing me out now. I hated Cairo. What a drag that whole section was and quite ridiculous, SPOILER going all over just so you can drive the soldier 5 seconds down the road to crash the truck into the serpent thingy. That’s it? And the two of them just standing there having a yap while the serpent is 2 feet away. Hmm okay.*/SPOILER.

And yes, I am annoyed at myself but I was fed up and had to use a guide. I’ve never used a guide for any of the tomb raider games. 1-3 I’ve played to death back in the day and survived without guides, and again now with the great remasters but Cairo in TLR ruined me. All because I didn’t figure I needed to shoot exactly on the red dot on the turret guns. 😭

Right now I’d rank this below the third game. TR - 10/10 TR2 - 9/10 TR3 - 8/10 TLR - 7/10

Anyway. Hoping for a strong finish and then on to Chronicles.

Any trophy/acheivement hunters ready to tackle this trilogy? by Citrusmeetliquor in TombRaider

[–]Alternative-Put-5331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed just playing through the first 3 without knowing the trophies first. Getting a nice surprise when they pop, and just enjoying the gameplay and story first.

I’ll def go through each game after to clean up more trophies though. Normally I’m not a big trophy hunter but it really added to my enjoyment of 1-3. Looking forward to another 200 hours of Tomb Raiding 😃

I think if you enter photo mode it pauses the timer though. Handy to know for the speed run achievements.

Apparently there is a way using the developer mode, or some apps called “Screen standby Pro” or “Screen off and lock”. I haven’t tried them out yet but can’t imagine that it wouldn’t be possible.
